Matthews SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT From Emerald 27.5.17 Ð Race 2: Trainer J. Wehlow reported that TERETTO had chips in both knees and would now be retired from racing. Mr Wehlow was advised that if the horse were to return to racing a full veterinary clearance would be required. Race 1: Rockhampton VW Golf Runout Maiden Plate Ð 1050 metres Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards viewed the patrol film in regard to SAURABH. It was subsequently established that the horse stood in the barrier and took no part in the race. Trainer T. Button advised that it was the intention for the horse to leave his stable. Given the history of the gelding, the horse will be required to perform satisfactorily in a series of trials to prove its suitability for racing. BOY IN A MILLION Ð Shifted outwards by its rider near the 650 to take evasive action to avoid a fallen rider and took no further competitive part in the event. HIGH CHANGE Ð Slow to begin. Clipped the heels of LIFEÕS A WITCH near the 650m, blundered and dislodged its rider. At a subsequent inquiry, stewards took evidence from N. Summers (DEBBIEÕS DREAM), C. Bayliss (LIFEÕS A WITCH) and M. McGillivray, the rider of HIGH CHANGE. Stewards found that at the point of the incident LIFEÕS A WITCH laid in and away marginally from DEBBIEÕS DREAM. As stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the carelessness of any one rider was to blame for the incident, it was deemed a racing incident. BRUTAL BABE Ð Slow to begin. Apprentice M. Murphy reported that his mount had raced greenly throughout. As apprentice M. McGillivray was stood down from his remaining engagements, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Apprentice McGillivray was advised that he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming riding. Race 2: Rockhampton Prestige Clearance Centre BM 55 Handicap Ð 1600 metres QUICK ASSAULT Ð Raced keenly in the early stages. Eased from the heels of another runner near the 1100m. FRISKIER Ð Began awkwardly. Apprentice B. Nothdurft was fined $200 for using the whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, stewards took into account the totality of the whip use and the distance of the event. PRINCE OF BARODA Ð Bounded in the air on jumping. SEACITY Ð Raced wide without cover throughout and was inclined to lay in in the straight. ONEMORENOBLEDANCER Ð Overraced for a short distance leaving the 1200m. TEST MY FRIENDSHIP Ð Unruly in its preliminary. Began awkwardly. Race 3: Rockhampton VW Financial Services Open Handicap Ð 1400 metres WORTHY HERO Ð Trainer J. Wehlow advised that the horse would now be sent for a spell. It was observed that the horse had minor abrasions to the offside hind leg. FRENCH HUSSLER Ð Apprentice M. Murphy used his whip 8 times prior to the 100m. After considering the totality of the whip use, stewards took no direction action other however advised apprentice Murphy of the requirements of the rule. CASINO BENJO Ð Overraced in the early stages. Race 4: Think Water Rockhampton QTIS 3YO Handicap Ð 1300 metres WINNING KISS Ð Made contact with another runner on jumping. AUSSIE TYCOON Ð Made contact with another runner on jumping. Steadied when tightened onto another runner near the 1200m BARACHIEL Ð Began slowly and raced wide until near the 700m. MISTA BUSY Ð Steadied when tightened for room by AUSSIE TYCOON near the 1200m when WINNING KISS took that runner inwards. At a subsequent inquiry, stewards issued a charge of careless riding against apprentice B. Nothdurft in that he allowed his mount to shift in at that point when insufficiently clear of AUSSIE TYCOON, resulting in tightening to MISTA BUSY. Stewards adjourned the matter to a time and date to be fixed to enable further evidence to be taken. Race 5: Rockhampton VW V6 Amarok Class 1 Handicap Ð 1200 metres CHIEF ADVOCATE Ð Raced wide without cover throughout. SPLENDABA Ð Jumped out at the start on to NACIREMA, which was taken out on to FRANKY COLD MEDINA. Bumped by another runner near the 300 metres. NACIREMA Ð Bumped and taken outwards on to another runner at the start. Q. Krogh reported that he felt something was amiss with his mount near the 300m so he eased the horse down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness and swelling in the near foreleg due to a possible tendon injury, and the horse was treated. A veterinary certificate will be required. STELLA GRIS Ð A. Allen was questioned regarding his reason for leading on the horse. He advised that he was instructed to be positive on the horse, and after beginning well, in the early stages he was caught wide and elected to go forward and obtain the lead. FRANKY COLD MEDINA Ð Bumped at the start. Shifted out and bumped SPLENDABA near the 300 metres. Race 6: Rockhampton VW Servicing Class 6 Plate Ð 1100 metres EL CAPO Ð Slow into stride and made contact with DOTHERIGHTTHING. STRAIGHT GOLD Ð Raced three wide without cover throughout. DOTHERIGHTTHING Ð Bumped at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery rate. CLOSE THE BEACHES Ð Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 900m when being restrained. METEORÕS MAN Ð Bumped at the start. SECURITY BELLE Ð Jumped out at the start and made contact with METEORÕS MAN. Raced three wide with cover. Race 7: Wandal Need n Feed Winter Provincial Sprinters Series (Ht) Bm 70 Handicap Ð 1300 metres JOHNNY BE QUICK Ð Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. HEROISM Ð Taken inwards near the 100m, tightening the running of ALL HOST. ALL HOST Ð Tightened for room, checked and lost ground near the 100m. Apprentice B. Nothdurft, the rider of JOHNNY BE QUICK, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 100m he used insufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting inwards when not fully clear of HEROISM, which was taken in, tightening the running of ALL HOST. Stewards deemed this a mid-range offence and after taking into account apprentice NothdurftÕs guilty plea and that this was his first suspension in 12 months of race riding, his licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, to commence at midnight 3 June and expire on Tuesday 13 June 2017. SIX BEAT Ð Slow to begin. HAPPY SNITZEL Ð After beginning with the field, commenced to race ungenerously and lost ground. Trainer G. Bell reported that she had added a gear change of cross over nose band on for todayÕs event and she would now remove this gear and re-add blinkers to the horseÕs gear.
