AinsworthSwab attendants – Mrs Z Newman & Miss N BoyleStarter – Mr C Matthews Race 1: Stage and Audio QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1100m MYSTERY ELEMENT – Became awkward on the heels of ROCKETHEAD near the 400m and shifted in to obtain clear running. DIAMOND ACCOUNT – Tightened between runners which both shifted ground approaching the 900m. OUR GIRL FIFI – Raced wide without cover throughout. Race 2: Springton Park BenchMark 65 Handicap 1835m The starter reported a delay in the starting mechanism. As observed, the barriers of RUFFY ROAD and FABULOUS CHILD had opened slightly prematurely to the remainder. Stewards were of the opinion that this had no material effect on the race. LIKE ’EM SASSY – L. Tilley reported that his mount had lunged at the barriers and he was unbalanced and the horse had begun awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance of his mount, L. Tilley stated that the horse had raced flat on this occasion and may have come to the end of its preparation. He added that the increase in weight and distance and today’s heat may have affected its performance and suggested that the horse be freshened up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. PULSAR – Slow to begin. RUBY RAY – Slow to begin. RUFFY ROAD – Slow to begin. ALOOF’S TURF – J. Stanley reported that his mount was under pressure from the 450m and as he had concerns near the 250m, he eased the horse down over the final 200m. Jockey Stanley stated that the horse may have been effected by the heat and had come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be stressed immediately post-race, however had recovered well on cooling down. Race 3: Empire Rockhampton BenchMark 60 Handicap 1400m MISHNAH – Fractious in the barriers. Reared when the start was effected, unseated the jockey and took no part in the race. Trainer J. Wehlow was advised that given the horse’s history, it would have to obtain two consecutive barrier certificates. UNCANNY REASON – Bounded on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages and was allowed to take up a leading position from the 900m. BANSHEE JET – Steadied from the heels of MAGIC SCENE approaching the 900m. Race 4: Wilpeena Cattle Co Maiden Plate 1300m MEET HARRY – Began awkwardly. MILITARY PRINCE – Laid in on occasions in the straight. SNOOZE – Began awkwardly. OUR CINDERELLA – Raced wide without cover throughout. SELENITE – Raced wide without cover throughout. Race 5: Ulton QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1100m DOOGUS – Commenced to overrace near the 900m and improved into restricted room when unable to be restrained between PROUD KING and BOLD AS ICE. This incident was reviewed with App E Smith. PROUD KING – Shifted wider on the track near the 700m and in the straight rider A. Butler had concerns with his mount’s action and eased the horse down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be sore above the off hind hock. Connections were advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance and must barrier trial prior to its next race start. POETIC HEART – Prior to the start rider N. Seymour was struck in the face by his mount. After being examined by the paramedics, jockey Seymour was cleared to fulfil his engagement. Began awkwardly. Following the running of this event, Jockey Seymour was again examined by the paramedics and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagement. SPRING CREEK – Began awkwardly. Eased near the 900m and lost ground when CRAIGLEA NEO (L. Tilley) shifted in. L. Tilley was advised to use greater effort to prevent his mount from shifting in. TOKAREV – Slow to begin. Race 6: Ironmonger Shipping Agencies Open Handicap 1300m Prior to the declaration of correct weight, N. Day, the rider of 2nd placegetter STARANTE, viewed the stewards’ patrol footage with regard to the use of the whip by A. Butler, the rider of 1st placegetter COURT CLOWN, however did not proceed with any objection COURT CLOWN – A. Butler was fined $300 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions, being 9 times, prior to the 100m. In consideration of penalty, Stewards were mindful of Jockey Butler’s recent good record. SHEER PERSISTENCE – Slow to begin. Race 7: Hairhouse Warehouse Class 1 Handicap 1100m SCUTARI – Bumped on jumping. RAPT IN BLACK – Raced wide without cover throughout. DOUBLE JAY GOLD – Made contact with SCUTARI on jumping and lost ground. MISS RICH – Bumped shortly after the start. SALTY’S BOY – Began awkwardly and shortly after made contact with MISS RICH. Stewards spoke to apprentice E. Smith with regard to her riding in the early stages. She explained that she wanted to maintain a position one off the fence outside STAR PICKET, however from the 900m her mount commenced to overrace and was unable to be restrained and as a result took up the position leading to the outside of HEAVENLY DREAM.
