Prior to the declaration of correct weight, J. Stanley, the rider of LEGAL TIES, placed 4th viewed the stewards’ patrol film and after doing so lodged an objection against CRAIGLEA ELLA being declared 2nd, alleging interference near the 400m. After taking evidence from all parties, it was established that leaving the 400m CRAIGLEA ELLA, which was hanging out, made contact with GREAT FOX, which shifted out and caused significant interfernce to WICKED GRIMSHAW and in turn LEGAL TIES. Stewards were of the opinion that this interference had a significant effect on LEGAL TIES, which had cost it the beaten margin and had the interference not occurred that LEGAL TIES would have placed ahead of CRAIGLEA ELLA. Therefore, the objection was upheld with the amended placings

At a subsequent inquiry, stewards determined the interference was attributable to the mannerisms of CRAIGLEA ELLA and that connections would be advised that the horse must barrier trial prior to its next start.
