Trainer T. Cook reported that his runners PULSAR, HEAVENLY DREAM and HIDDEN GODDESS, were scratched today for the following reasons: PULSAR, due to the firm track, and HEAVENLY DREAM and HIDDEN GODDESS were found to be suffering a virus.

Race 1: Swanwick Murray Roche Lawyers QTIS 2YO Handicap- 1100 metres

Apprentice Z. White pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 118C(c) in that she did weigh out without a safety vest for her ride on SPENDING FRENZY. In imposing a fine of $200, stewards took into account the circumstances involved and Apprentice White’s good record in relation to this rule.

WICKED GRIMSHAW – Began awkwardly and lost some ground. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

BROOK’S PLEASURE – When questioned regarding the filly’s performance, N. Day stated the horse was positioned and travelled well throughout, however, when placed under pressure near the 200m shifted some ground, failed to finish off as expected and proved disappointing. Trainer J. McConachy was of the opinion that the break between runs may have affected the horse’s performance in that it was going into today’s event lacking some fitness and also that the filly was exhibiting signs of being in season. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no physical abnormalities, however it was noted that the filly was slow to recover. A swab sample was taken. Stewards will follow up further with Mr McConachy in the coming days.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, rider A. Butler and J. Wehlow, trainer of LEROY ROCKS, placed 5th by the Judge, viewed the available patrol films and after doing so lodged an objection against DOOGUS being placed 4th, alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence and viewing the relevant patrol films, stewards determined that near the 400m, when both runners commenced to take their runs, there was a bump between the runners and again near the 200m and 150m. While the stewards acknowledged there was minor contact at these points between the runners, bearing in mind the margin of a neck, they were of the opinion that it was not sufficient to warrant a reversal of the placings and the objection was dismissed.

LEROY ROCKS – Shifted out near the 500m and made contact with STYLISH CRIMINAL, which was taken out on to RED RUNNER. A. Butler was advised to exercise more care.

STYLISH CRIMINAL – Slow to begin. Bumped near the 500m, taken out on to another runner.
