Near the 400m bumped with RUFFY ROAD. RUFFY ROAD – Bumped near the 400m. Stewards sought an explanation from apprentice L. Dodds regarding the performance of the horse. He stated his mount proved disappointing, however could offer no tangible explanation, adding that the horse found the lead well and travelled well throughout, however when placed under pressure from the 600m improved slightly, but shortly after failed to respond any further. Trainer G. Elliott reported that the gelding had difficulty urinating in the lead up to today’s race. On return to the stables, a penile bean was found and Mr Elliott was of the opinion this may have effected its performance. The gelding had otherwise pulled up well. Race 2: DC Motors BenchMark 60 Handicap 1400mELLE THE MODEL – Slow to begin. Jockey P. Romeo lost his whip inside the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination found the horse to be mildly lame in the near foreleg. OAKFIELD MIDNIGHT – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages, and from the 800m raced 3 wide with no cover for the remainder.Race 3: Whittington @ Grandview Stud QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1100mGOLDEN LIGHT – The start was delayed when the horse got its hind leg up on the barrier partition. The horse was removed from the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and cleared to take its place in the field. NOW ASK ME – Began awkwardly and lost some ground. GAP THE FIELD – Jumped outwards at the start and made contact with DROPPER ROCKET. DROPPER ROCKET – Bumped at the start. UNDERCOVER GIRL – Jumped awkwardly in the air and lost some ground. BLUE DEWAR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate must be produced prior to its next race start. Race 4: Sharon Mylrea Fashions On The Field Sat 7 April Maiden Plate 1300mCHEEKY STAR – The start was delayed when the horse reared up and sat down in the barriers. After being removed underwent a veterinary inspection and passed to take its place in the field. SAGRE’S POINT – Slow to begin. MITCHELL GRASS – Raced wide without cover. HIGH RIDER – Raced wide without cover. BOHEMIAN TIGER – Raced wide with cover. Race 5: Capricornia Yearling Sales – 11AM Sunday 8 April Open Handicap 1300m FASTNET FLYER – Began awkwardly.DENNIS DENUTO – Jumped awkwardly. FRIENDLY DRAGON – Slow into stride. I CAN I WILL IAM – Slow into stride. MOTORISED – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. COURT CLOWN; Jockey A. Butler was advised of the rules with regard to the use of his whip prior to the 100m. Race 6: Rockhampton Mayor’s Class 6 Plate 1200mFUTUREAL – Declared a late scratching at 9.15 am on veterinary advice. UTHRED – Slow to begin. RAGAZZO DEL CORSA – Jockey J. Stanley reported his mount shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages, obliging him to stop riding and straighten. MACHO TYCOON – Raced 3 wide throughout. MYSTIC FORCES – With regard to the performance of the horse, Jockey N. Seymour stated that the horse was disappointing. He advised that after obtaining the lead easily and setting the pace of the race, he placed the horse under pressure inside the 400m and shortly after his mount commenced to tire. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have as slow post-race recovery. Race 7: Rockhampton Regional Council Class 2 Handicap 1200m BARBADOS STORM – Jumped away awkwardly. CULPO – Made contact shortly after the start. POETIC LUCK – Made contact shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections will be advised that a veterinary certificate will be required prior to the horse’s next race start. ROUGISSANTE – Tightened and checked near the 700m. TAPA – Shifted out under pressure from the 250m. FAST TRICK – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Apprentice E. Smith pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 700m she used insufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting inwards when not sufficiently clear of ROUGISSANTE, resulting in that horse being tightened, checked and lose its rightful running. Apprentice Smith’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days, to commence at midnight 14 March up to and including 26 April 2018 THE REAL SPIEL – Jockey B. Grylls reported her mount raced flat.
