Race 1: BP Rockhampton South Class 4 Handicap 1400m
 
HELLUVA HOFFA – Slow to begin.
 
ATLANTIS CITY – Began awkwardly.
 
HI SUGAR – Raced 3 wide without cover leaving the 800m.
 
Following Race 1 the track was upgraded to Good 4 retrospectively.
 
Race 2: Rees R & Sydney Jones Country Cup BenchMark 65 Handicap 1200m
 
CLAPPERS – Hung out in the middle stages. 
 
PICK OF THE PUBS – Near the 900m when over racing had to be steadied from the heels of MEGA D’ORO. Raced wide with cover.
 
POETIC SHOW – Race wide without cover.
 
MISTA BUSY – Jockey D. Evans was reminded of the rules regarding whip use prior to the 100m.
 
MEGA D’ORO – When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, Jockey A. Butler advised he was instructed to obtain cover and complied with those instructions. However, when crossed early by OSSENHAGEN, the horse commenced to race keenly and when restrained he felt the horse failed to travel well for the remainder of the race. Jockey Butler recommended to connections that the blinkers be removed for future starts.
Race 3: Rum City Foods Maiden Handicap 1050m
 
TOORAK RUBY – Jumped outwards at the start. Raced wide without cover.
 
WHOOSH – Raced wide without cover throughout. Jockey N. Seymour pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 800m mark he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of HEEB’S FIRST ANGEL, resulting in that horse being taken in, and DE LOSKO being tightened, checked and losing its rightful running. Jockey N. Seymour’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days, to commence from midnight, 12 April, and to be up to and including midnight, 23 April 2018.
 
MAGICAL FORECAST –Jockey A. Butler stated that he had placed the horse under some pressure near the 900m, however on straightening, had concerns for its welfare and retired the horse from the race.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Connections will be advised that a barrier trial of at least 800 metres is required prior to its next race start.
 
HEEB’S FIRST ANGEL – Bled during the event. As this was the first occasion on which the horse has bled, it will now be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
 
Race 4: Scottish Pacific Business Finance Ratings Band 0-60 Handicap 1050m
 
BAUHINIA DROUGHT – As J. Stanley was unable to fulfil his engagement, N. Seymour was substituted as the rider of the horse. Given Jockey Stanley’s good record and the circumstances involved, his explanation was accepted. Laid out near the 900m and shifted wider on the track.
 
JAY JAY – Dwelt at the start and came together with IMPERIAL ATTITUDE on jumping.
 
IMPERIAL ATTITUDE- Bumped at the start.
 
GOLOVKIN – Bumped with SHUDAPUTARINGONIT shortly after the start.
 
SHUDAPUTARINGONIT – Bumped soon after the start.
 
ARGYLL BAY – Hung out wider on the track near the 900m.
 
Race 5: SMW Group 2018 Capricornia Yearling Sale Classic QTIS 2-Y-O Plate 1200m
 
Prior to correct weight, Jockey Stanley, rider of the 2nd placegetter, DIAMOND ACCOUNT, and trainer J. Wigginton viewed the available patrol films to ascertain if any grounds existed to lodge a protest against the winner. After doing so, they did not proceed.
 
BROOK’S PLEASURE- The start was delayed when the horse broke through the gates, however was quickly restrained, returned to the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.
 
SERIOUS CRIME – Slow to begin.
 
UBER MOVER – Slow to begin.
 
DIAMOND ACCOUNT – Severely tightened between BROOK’S PLEASURE and RUBY GEORGIE, which jumped inwards at the start.
 
MARWAY – Jumped awkwardly at the start and had to be eased from the heels of WICKED GRIMSHAW.
 
WICKED WAYS – Raced wide without cover.
 
SYNONYMS – Raced wide without cover.
 
Race 6: Uton Capricornia Yearling Sale Championship QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap 1300m
 
MISTA POINT – Declared a late scratching at 8am on veterinary advice. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next race start.
 
TOXOPHILY – Dwelt at the start and was hampered and lost ground when LEROY ROCKS jumped outwards. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the early stages of the straight until leaving the 300m.
 
DANTIEN – Near the 1000m, was buffeted between SAMBA RIO and LEROY ROCK when SAMBA RIO rolled in.  Shortly after LOTA CREEK ROAD laid in, resulting in SAMBA RIO being taken in slightly and DANTIEN laid in and away onto the heels of LEROY ROCK and lost ground.
 
LOTA CREEK GOLD – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Raced wide with cover.
 
L’AMOUR MALADE – Near the 100m had to be eased from the heels of NORTHERN DRAGON, which shifted out under pressure. Raced wide without cover.
 
TOKAREV – Raced wide without cover.
 
SAMBA RIO – Raced wide without cover.
