SUPREME JET- Trainer advised the gelding had now been retired.
FUTUREAL- Trainer explained that the mare had reacted adversely to a routine joint treatment administered in days leading up to the race and this may have affected its performance. The mare would remain in training and receive treatment for this issue.
Mr Vale was of the opinion that CHEEKY STAR was also effected by this routine treatment.

General
Due to flight delays for a number of jockeys, all races were rescheduled back one race time, with Race 1 to commence at 12.37 pm and Race 8 initially to commence at 4.52 pm The race was further delayed until 5.15 pm to allow for jockeys J. Orman and M. Du Plessis to arrive on course.
Race 1: Iron Jack QTIS 2YO & 3YO Maiden Handicap- 1100 metres
TARWYN BLUE – Declared a late scratching at 12.09pm due no available rider.
SQUALL – Bumped on jumping away.
SARANOVA – Tightened at the start.
TARAKI –Made contact on jumping away. Hung out near the 900m and lost ground. The horse was inclined to hang in in the straight and proved difficult to ride out.
YES SAY US – Raced greenly in the straight and shifted ground.
KINGS COUNTY – Jockey D. McLellan was dislodged on leaving the enclosure. The horse was recaptured shortly after, and following a veterinary examination at the barriers, was passed to take its place in the field.
CLUB SODA – Began awkwardly.
STEELZ TIME – Jumped outwards and HOT CHOCOLATE jumped inwards, resulting BROW ROWEL and SARANOVA being tightened for room between those runners.
BROW ROWEL – Tightened at the start.
SPRING BEAT – Slow to jump and began awkwardly.
BRAVE JEWEL – Stewards will inquire into jockey T. Brooker’s use of her whip on her mount.
Following this event the track was downgraded to a Soft 7 retrospective to Race 1.
Race 2: Summer Bright Maiden Plate- 1300 Metres
BEAT THE BEAST – As the replacement rider, Jockey B. Pengelly was permitted to ride 1 kilogram overweight. Began awkwardly.
AMERICAN LOVE – Jockey C. Symons replaced jockey A. Allen and was permitted to ride 1.5 kilograms overweight. Hung out in the middle stages. Raced wide with cover.
BOLD AS ICE – Rolled in near the 300m, causing TORQUE to be steadied.
TORQUE – Steadied near the 300m.
DAUNTING QUEEN – Raced wide without cover.
CALZAGHE PRINCE – Slow to begin.
MISS SCHIFFER – Raced wide with cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Apprentice L. Dodds stated that the horse may not have been suited by the track conditions today.
STRADIFY – Raced wide with cover.
Race 3: Rockhampton Mini Loads Ken Russell Memorial Class 1 Handicap- 1300 Metres
COPYWRITER – Declared a late scratching at 1.26 pm due to the downgrading of the track.
NEED A WARRANT – Declared a late scratching at 1.24 pm when there was no available rider and due to the downgrading of the track as the horse was first-up today.
FAST TRACK – Jockey T. Brooker replaced jockey M. Hellyer and was permitted to ride 1.5 kilograms overweight.
DUANSKILL – Jumped outwards at the start. Tightened for room when placed in restricted room near the 900m, overreacted and lost ground.
GLADISHING – Slow to begin.
POETIC HEART – Jumped awkwardly and raced wide without cover.
VAN WINKEL – Raced wide without cover.
THE SHOWMAN – Slow to begin and bounded on jumping. Rolled in momentarily near the 900m, taking FAST TRICK in slightly, which caused DUANSKILL to be placed in restricted room and tightened. In this incident the horse overreacted and lost ground. Jockey B. Pengelly, rider of THE SHOWMAN, was advised to exercise more care.
CORNISH TALES – Raced wide without cover.
Race 4: Col Donovan Memorial Ratings Band 0-55 Handicap- 1600 Metres
SOLAR LADY – Bumped on a number of occasions in the early stages of the straight.
SCARLET HUSSIE – Declared a late scratching at 1.52 pm due to the downgrading of the track.
REAL MONTE –Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after concerns were raised by the QRIC Integrity Investigation Team and was passed to take its place in the field.
LITTLE HUNTER – Buffeted between runners on jumping.
PROANE – Began ungenerously and threw its head in the air. Near the 400m raced ungenerously and shifted inwards abruptly. Raced wide with cover.
HIMALAYAN SALT – Bumped on a number of occasions in the early stages of the straight.
FLYING FERO – Raced wide with no cover throughout.
CHEEKY STAR – Raced wide without cover.
FREE DROP- Raced wide without cover throughout.
Race 5: Linemac Motors Class 3 Handicap- 1500 Metres
DARING DEEDS – Jumped awkwardly at the start.
MISS MILES –Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
GAMBIT – Jockey S. Wiseman replaced jockey D. Hayse and was permitted to rider ½ kilogram overweight. Raced wide with no cover.
ALOOF’S TURF – On return to scale jockey T. Brooker advised it was not her instructions to lead. Bumped at the start.
OCCHILUPO – Bumped at the start and lost some ground. Raced wide with cover.
TO THE LETTER - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse has had previous airway surgery, had a partial obstruction to the upper airway, and that it was a roarer. The trainer recommended that the horse now be retired, however stewards ordered that the horse be scoped on a treadmill and a veterinary certificate be provided if it was to return to racing.
Race 6: Lythgo Crew Wealth Management BM 65 Handicap-1050 Metres
DRAYMAN – Raced wide without cover.
HIDDEN GODDESS – Laid out in the middle stages.
STRIVE TO SUCCEED – Began awkwardly.
BERAHT – Raced wide without cover.
CYCLONE FUGITIVE – Raced wide with cover.
WICKED EXPRESS – Raced wide without cover.
BACKSLAPPER – Raced wide with cover.
Race 7: Edge Insurance Class 6 Plate- 1200 Metres
SAILOR GERRI – Declared a late scratching at 1.03 pm due to the downgrade of the track.
KARAHARAGA - Prior to the running of this race, Stewards inquired into a report from the IIT in relation to an apparent haematoma found on the near-side jugular of the horse. Stewards sought an explanation from trainer B. Currie. He explained that all horses racing on Friday had received treatment on Wednesday prior to travelling to Rockhampton, and further that all horses racing on Saturday had received treatment on Thursday prior to being transported to Rockhampton. Stewards found there was not sufficient evidence to establish the horse had received treatment in breach of the rules, and permitted the horse to start. Stewards have obtained Mr. Currie’s treatment records and adjourned the matter. A pre-race blood sample and a post-race urine sample were taken from the horse.
DEVILS PINCH – Jockey J. Stanley replaced jockey B Stewart, who was to be overweight. In the circumstances, no action was taken against jockey Stewart. Dipped near the 800m.
CLATEAU – Had its head down as the start was effected and was slow to begin.
SKY BROOK – Reared as the start was effected, becoming unbalanced and losing ground. A further warning will be placed on the horse regarding its barrier manners.
Race 8: XXXX Gold Newmarket Open Handicap- 1300 Metres
CHARLIE BOY – Declared a late scratching at 3.23 pm due to the downgrading of the track.
BLUE JEST – Jockey L. Tilley was permitted to ride half a kilogram overweight. Raced wide without cover.
ARENA SALON – Slow into stride.
DIVINE SERVICE – Approaching the 900 metres, commenced to race keenly and near the 900 metres, put in an awkward stride which resulted in NICCANOVA having to be eased.
NICCANOVA – Eased near the 900 metres. On return to scale, jockey A. Allen stated that the horse had travelled well throughout, however when placed under pressure in the early stages of the straight had failed to sprint.
HEARTBREAK HARRY – Shifted out from the heels of BLUE JEST near the 800m.
DYLAN’S LUCK - Bumped with OF THE DAY near the 800m and became awkward on the heels of IDANCE, shifted out and made significant contact with OF THE DAY. Became unbalanced in this incident.
OF THE DAY – Bumped near the 800m.
HEARTBREAK HARRY – Raced wide without cover.
