SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT:
 
Rockhampton 31/01/19, Race 3:
 
Trainer K. Smyth reported that Denman Dancer jarred up following the event.
 
GENERAL:
 
As Apprentice A. Thompson was indisposed for personal reasons, riding replacements were made in races 4, 5, 6 and 7 as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Due to ongoing showers post scratching deadline and after an inspection of the track, stewards downgraded the track to Soft 5 at 12.15 pm.
 
 
Race 1: HOMESTEAD 4711 QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD H’CAP – 1100M
 
INVESTIBLE – Bumped at the start.
 
ARJAYCEE – Bumped at the start.
 
TYCOON FLYER – Bumped at the start. Passing the 900m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Laid out in the home straight.
 
ASTRAL KNIGHT – Bumped at the start.  Shifted out abruptly near the 300m. Raced 3 wide  without cover throughout.  Jockey Simmons reported his mount raced greenly throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer G. Green was advised  that a warning would be placed  on the horse for racing ungenerously.
 
THE STOCKBROKER – Jockey J. Stanley reported that as it was its first start in blinkers, the horse commenced to race keenly in the early stages, and then when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to respond. Trainer T. Button agreed with jockey Stanley’s comments, however also added that, in his opinion, THE STOCKBROKER horse would benefit from its run today.
 
 
Race 2: REGIONAL INSURANCE BROKERS OPEN H’CAP – 1500M
 
TAMBO’S HEART – Slow to begin. Raced keen in the early and middle stages.
 
I CAN I WILL IAM – Jockey C. Jokic was reminded of her obligations regarding use of her whip.
 
 
Race 3: AUSTRALIAN NATIVES CLASS 6 PLATE – 1200M
 
SABA LASS – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
UTHRED – Brushed another runner passing the 400m and laid in in the home straight.
 
BARACHIEL – Brushed by another runner passing the 400m.
 
RISE TO FAME - Trainer M. Attard was questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding.  Mr Attard explained that RISE TO FAME was first up and was able to obtain an easy lead, adding he had been pleased with its trackwork leading up to today’s event and expected a forward showing.
 
 
Race 4: 2019 RACING GALA BALL – SAT 23 MARCH QTIS JEWEL QUALIFIER 3-Y-O H’CAP– 1100M
 
CYCLONE TOPGIRL –As apprentice A. Thompson was indisposed and then apprentice N. Fazackerley failed to arrive on course, Stewards acceded to a request from trainer L. Wright for senior rider R. Wiggins to be the replacement rider. Stewards will interview apprentice Fazackerley as to the reasons for failing to arrive on course to fulfil his engagement. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer L. Wright expressed disappointment in the performance of the filly today, however added that the heavy weight impost did not suit the horse.
 
CHANAMARO – Bumped at the start.
 
THE TAX ACCOUNTANT - Bumped at the start.
 
OUR TOP SHELF – Began awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with BOLD SENSATION. Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
BOLD SENSATION – Shifted in when bumped by another runner at the start. Laid in during the home straight and proved difficult to ride out to the end of the race. Leaving the 100m was steadied across when awkwardly placed at the heels of CHANAMARO.
 
GRACIE BELLE – Shifted in when bumped by another runner at the start. Laid out in the home straight.
 
 
 
Race 5: NEVER A BETTER TIME TO BE A CLUB 150 MEMBER! MAIDEN PLATE– 1300M
 
KAOS AGENT –Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
LARBAUD – Connections were advised LARBAUD would settle in a more forward position today, if circumstances permit.  The filly was subsequently was ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly and shifted in and bumped another runner.
 
THE VOLTO –  After becoming fractious in the barriers was removed from the gates, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race. Raced 3 wide and keenly in the early stages.
 
DYDEE’S GIRL – Bumped at the start.
 
DIXIE LEE – Began awkwardly. Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
LENNON’S PADDOCK – Slow to begin.
 
Trainer J. McConachy was fined $100 for failing to produce the ID card for   KAOS AGENT.
 
Race 6: XXXX GOLD CLASS 3 H’CAP– 1300M
 
Stewards accepted explanation tendered by trainer O. Cairns in relation to POINT FORWARD arriving on course late. A pre-race sample was taken from the gelding.
 
ALL ABOUT MAGIC –Fractious in the barrier prior to start. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 100m jockey L. Tilley almost dropped his whip.
 
POINT FORWARD – Slow to begin. Raced keen in early stages. Near the 100m shifted out abruptly and was placed awkwardly at heels. Raced wide without cover. 
 
SOUTHERN ALBATROSS – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
 
Race 7: CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALES CARNIVAL 2019
CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1100M
 
As Jockey N. Summers was not attending today’s meeting due to personal reasons, jockey C. Jokic was substituted as the rider of SAGRE’S POINT.
 
 
On return to scale after viewing the patrol footage a protest was lodged by jockey N. Thomas, rider of the 2nd placegetter, ROCK’N’ROLL BOBBY, against CASH STRAPPED being declared the winner, alleging interference leaving the 300m.  After taking evidence from the parties concerned, stewards were of the opinion that passing the 300m CASH STRAPPED did shift out, however was clear of ROCK’N’ROLLD BOBBY at that stage.  A short distance later  CASH STRAPPED  again shifted out slightly under pressure, however ROCK’N’ROLL BOBBY  laid in. Stewards were satisfied that  both horses shifted  ground over the concluding stages, and therefore the dismissed the objection and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.
 
SAGRE’S POINT – Slow to begin.
 
CASH STRAPPED –Raced wide throughout.
 
SHENRON – Raced wide throughout.
