WICKED PEARL – Hampered on jumping away and lost ground.

CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner.

HE’S SO VIVACIOUS – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

WICKED PEARL – Raced greenly throughout whilst hanging in and laid in under pressure in the home straight. L Tilley, the rider of ARJAYCEE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he directed his mount out to the outside of CRAIGLEA ALTONA to secure clear running and in doing so made heavy contact with WICKED PEARL, causing that horse to be shifted wider, become unbalanced and lose ground. Jockey Tilley’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 7 March and to conclude midnight 15 March.

Race 2: Poynter Hargraves Personalised Wealth QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1050m

SUPER SID – Slow to begin.

CRIME BOSS – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost significant ground. A warning was placed on the horse’s racing manners. Overraced approaching the first turn and shifted wider to avoid heels, and raced wide from that point onwards.

SUMMER SALT – Tightened for room and checked near the 800m when racing between THE STOCKBROKER and CRAIGLEA MALACHI, which improved onto heels and shifted out to avoid the heels of ROCKY POET. Apprentice jockey E. Smith, rider of ROCKY POET, was reprimanded for excessively steadying the pace.

THE STOCKBROKER – Placed in restricted room near the 800m.

ROCK POET – Laid out under pressure in the home straight, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions. A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which was galloped on during the event revealed no abnormalities.

BOSS BABY – Raced wide without cover.

CRAIGLEA MALACHI – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have a poor post-race recovery.

Race 3: Calibre Earthmoving and Environmental QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1050m

OUR GIRL TAMIYA – Reared up in the tie-up stalls. Following an examination by the veterinary surgeon, stewards ordered the horse be a late scratching at 1.28 pm.

REAGAN’S MISTAKE – Made contact with the running rail en route to the barriers. Was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Steadied to avoid heels near the 700m.

ZIGGI ROCKS – Raced wide without cover.

HEZHOME – Raced greenly throughout the event.

KEPTINTHEDARK – Raced greenly throughout and particular when under pressure in the home straight.

BLACK SAGA – Stewards questioned jockey D. Evans regarding the tactics adopted and the overall performance of the horse. Of concern to stewards was that the horse led at its only start and in today’s event settled at the tail of the field. Jockey Evans explained that he had intended to lead, however the horse began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with a runner to his outside. Despite his urgings in the early stages the horse did not muster speed and he was obliged to settle at the tail of the field. He further advised that he shifted out and pressured the horse to improve around CRAIGLEA FLORIDA at the 700m, which the horse did so, though when placed under pressure in the home straight did not respond as anticipated and was disappointing in his opinion. Stewards perused the video of the event with jockey Evans and accepted his explanation. Jockey Evans suggested that a gear change to remove the blinkers and add winkers for today’s event may have resulted in the horse failing to show pace early. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities

Race 4: Phil Peel Leading Edge Jewellers Maiden Handicap 1050m

GAP THE FIELD - Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Then commenced to buck and was then retired from the event. Trainer R. Vale was advised that the horse must officially trial prior to its next race start.

SUJANI – Raced wide until passing the 700m.

ELITE ENCOUNTER – Jockey C. McIver pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to shift in near the 900m, tightening the running of DAWLISH, causing that horse to be checked. Jockey McIver was suspended for a period of 8 days, to commence at midnight, 7 March and to expire at midnight, 15. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account jockey McIvers’ good riding record.

Jockey Thompson was suspended from riding in races for a period of 14 days, to commence at midnight, 5 March and to expire at midnight, 19 March. In assessing penalty stewards considered the incident to be high range carelessness.

I AM DAN – A post race veterinary examination found the horse to be making an abnormal respiratory noise Trainer J. Wehlow will be advised he must provide to stewards the results of an endoscopic examination, and that the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.
