QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSIONSTEWARDS REPORT ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB – TUESDAY, 21 MAY 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD (4)RAIL – 5 METRES ENTIRE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C AlbrechtStewards – N Laskey, L Hicks, M. HeathClerk of Scales – W WelburnJudge – S BryantVeterinarian- Capricorn Vet ClinicSwab attendants – N Boyle, E BurgessStarter- R Hanson General As Jockey R Wiggins was not riding at today’s meeting due to illness and Jockey M Stephens due to injury, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Both riders were advised that they would require a medical clearance prior to riding in races again. Race 1: Condon Financial Pty Ltd QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1100m MASTER JAMIE - Became fractious in the race day tie-up stalls, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Examined by the veterinary surgeon again behind the barriers, which cleared the gelding to take its place in the field. Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, making contact with CRAIGLEA ALTONA. Overraced in the early stages. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey L. Tilley was cautioned regarding his use of the whip. ISA PRINCESS – Slow to begin, then hampered by CRIME BOSS and as a result lost ground. CRIME BOSS - Began very awkwardly, almost dislodging its rider. Laid in under pressure in the home straight, placing its rider at some disadvantage. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery. Trainer J. Pointon advised the gelding would now be sent for a spell. CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Hampered at the start when tightened for room. LEGAL ASSET – Hampered at the start when bumped by CRAIGLEA ALTONA. Race 2: Thommo’s Betta Home Living BM65 H’cap – 1400m RUSTY SCOOTER – Jockey N. Day replaced jockey R. Wiggins, who was not riding at today’s meeting. Fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was effected and lost ground. DAUNTING QUEEN – Eased at the start from a wide barrier to obtain a position with cover at the rear of the field. Rider H. English dropped her whip near the 150m. JAYAQUA – Jockey A. Butler was fined the sum of $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty stewards were mindful of jockey Butler’s recent good record. Race 3: Grant And Simpson Lawyers Maiden H’cap – 1200m STYLE LINE – Trainer T. McMahon advised stewards he would instruct the rider to use minimal whip use on the mare. Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace near the 800m and had to be steadied from heels. Rider L. Tilley reported following the race that the mare responded well to the whip, which he had informed the connections. BOU WEEKLY – Slow to begin. TRUST ISSUES – Became fractious in the barriers as the start was effected and as a result began awkwardly losing ground. Obliged to alter course near the 200m. Jockey D. Evans was fined $200 under AR211(1) for returning to scale overweight. MONSIEUR JACK – Began awkwardly. Commenced to hang out leaving the 300m and as a result was unable to be tested by its rider for the remainder of the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer P. Dillon was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start. GISELLE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Approaching the 200m had to be checked when tightened for room between LENNON’S PADDOCK and MONSIEUR JACK, which hung out badly despite the efforts of it’s rider. LENNON’S PADDOCK – Bumped near the 200m. HIGHLY INFLUENTIAL – When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance, Jockey B. Pengelly could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer C. Russell was advised that a veterinary clearance must be supplied prior to its next race start. MILITARY SPY – Lost its near hind plate in running. Race 4: HHH Partners Class 5 H’cap – 1600m POTEMKIN – Began awkwardly, making contact with HULK HENRY. HULK HENRY – Began awkwardly and hampered shortly after. Raced wide for the majority of the event. PROANE – Slow to begin. GLADISHING – Slow to begin. PERSISTENT SHADOW – Shifted out abruptly at the start. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race. Shifted in near the 200m and bumped SHADOW VISION. SHADOW VISION – Overraced in the early stages. Bumped near the 200m. GUISSOLA – Held up approaching and passing the 500m. LITTLE HUNTER – Held up in the early stages of the home straight and obliged to shift out near the 400m to obtain clear running. FASTNET LATINA – Raced wide throughout the event. Race 5: RHS Centenary Race Day 6 July – Tickets On Sale Now Class 2 Plate – 1100m OTTO’S BROTHER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout the event. KULABA – Began awkwardly. FIELDS AVENUE – Began awkwardly. LADYADA – Held up for clear running from the 600m until approaching the 300m. PAINTER’S REWARD – Held up and unable to improve for the majority of the home straight, until obtaining clear running inside the final 100m. MISS DE MIRAGE – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running near the 200m. SEIZED – Raced wide throughout. Jockey J. Stanley reported that after placing his mount under pressure in the early stages of the home straight he then desisted from placing any further pressure on his mount over the final 300m when out of contention, as he had concerns with its action. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. A swab sample was taken. Trainer T. Button undertook to report any abnormalities that may come to light in the days subsequent to the event. BRANDY BALLOON – Raced wide without cover throughout the event. MILNE BAY – Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the race. Race 6: 2019 XXXX Gold Winter Carnival – On Sale Now H’cap – 1050m MISS ANNA – Restrained at the start from its wide barrier to obtain a position at the rear of the field with cover. FOUR EXCEL – Raced 4 wide in the early stages until improving forward and obtaining a position outside the leader near the 700m. ROOI ROE – Held up in the early stages of the home straight, and near the 200m was obliged to alter course to obtain clear running. REACH FOR HEAVEN – Held up momentarily near the 400m when attempting to improve. Near the 100m shifted out and bumped FRENCH HUSSLER, then shifted in and as a result had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at heels when attempting a narrow run. Apprentice T. Doyle was advised to show more care when attempting narrow runs in future. SHORELINE – Raced wide throughout the event. PARTY PARDEE – Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the event. Race 7: Big Boys Toys EXPO QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1200m The start of this race was delayed when apprentice A. Thompson was dislodged from CRAIGLEA ZED during the preliminary, the gelding galloped for a short distance before being recaptured and was returned behind the barriers where it was subsequently examined by the veterinary surgeon and was cleared to start. Apprentice A. Thompson was uninjured in this incident and was able to fulfil his engagement. Trainer K. Johnston was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding regarding its pre-race manners. CRAIGLEA ZED - Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event. MISS FLAWLESS – Slow to begin.
