Race 1: Hairhouse Cairns Central QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1200m
 
The explanations offered by jockeys L. Tilley and N. Day for late arrival on course were accepted.
 
TALES OF EPSILON – Began awkwardly.
 
FRANKIE DREAMIN’ – Tightened for room at the start between POETIC PETE and ATTARD, which jumped inwards.
 
ATTARD – Jumped outwards at the start.
 
MONIQUITA – Near the 1100 metres was eased to avoid the heels of BOLD EOS. When being eased shifted inwards and bumped BOOMSTRESS.
 
BOLD EOS – Rider R. Wiggins was reprimanded for shifting in near the 1100 metres when not sufficiently clear of MONIQUITA.
 
POETIC PETE – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MARRON CHEVAL – Raced wide throughout.
 
BOOMSTRESS – Jockey T. Brooker reported that the filly travelled well in the early and middle stages. She added that her mount then failed to respond to her riding upon entering the home straight and was disappointing. A subsequent veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 2: XXXX Gold Class 3 Plate – 1050m
 
FUN FOR ME – On arrival at the barriers was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Began extremely awkwardly and could not muster any speed despite the efforts of its rider. Took no competitive part in the event. Subsequently T. Simmons, trainer of the mare, was notified that due to the mare’s uncompetitive performance, FUN FOR ME will be required to trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again, and a veterinary clearance must be submitted in respect of the mare. Ms Simmons notified the Stewards that the rider of the mare, D Simmons reported that FUN FOR ME resented the blinkers and tongue throughout the race, adding that she will remove such gear for the mare’s future racing. 
 
PAPER TRADE – Held up for clear running from the 600 metres until approaching the 400 metres.
 
HOVE ACTUALLY – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 3: Hairhouse Warehouse Rockhampton Staff Appreciation Maiden H’cap – 1400m
 
STYLE LINE – Slow to begin.
 
FREEDOM FACTOR – Change of tactics. Trainer P. Hulbert advised that if circumstances permit the gelding would be ridden further back than usual from the wide barrier in an effort to obtain cover. The horse subsequently settled in a midfield position and raced wide throughout.
 
TRUST ISSUES – Slow to begin. Near the 500 metres had to be eased to avoid the heels of BRANDS HATCH.
 
GISELLE – Shifted in near the 1000 metres and crowded PRUNDA.
 
PRUNDA – For a short distance near the 1000 metres raced tight to the inside of GISELLE
 
CASINO WEEK – Near the 700 metres was hampered by another runner. Raced wide throughout.
 
BRANDS HATCH – Rider was notified to exercise more care for shifting out when not sufficiently clear of TRUST ISSUES near the 500 metres, resulting in that mare being inconvenienced.
 
HEATHER JOAN – Apprentice M. Nakao was reprimanded for shifting out near the 250 metres when not sufficiently clear of PAIBLE resulting in that filly being carried out to TWIST EDGEROI, which had to be eased.
 
TWIST EDGEROI – Near the 250 metres had to be eased to avoid the heels of PAIBLE. Raced wide throughout.
 
PAIBLE – Carried out by HEATHER JOAN near the 250 metres.
 
FREEDOM FACTOR – Raced wide throughout.


 
Race 4: Dooley & Bryant Battlers Cup Benchmark 65 H’cap – 2200m
 
CAPTAINS WAY – Prior to being loaded into the barrier the gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon. Acting on a report from her that the gelding had blood in its near-side nostril which could not be attributed to any external trauma, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the CAPTAIN’S WAY at 2.05 pm with the following deductions applicable.
 
0 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
1 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
2 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
3 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
Trainer J. Doolan will be notified that prior to racing again the gelding must complete a 1000 metre gallop to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
 
GLADISHING – Raced wide in the early stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 600 metres and 400 metres.
 
MAC’S METTLE – Shifted in after passing the winning post and crowded GLADISHING.  Apprentice E. Smith was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in the future.
 
SATURN OPS – Approaching the winning post on the first occasion shifted out after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of GLADISHING. Lost it’s off fore plate during the race.
 
SHIRANDA – Began awkwardly.
 
PROANE – Jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped EFFECTAV at the start.
 
EFFECTAV – Bumped on jumping.
 
 
Race 5: Family Fun Day At The Races – Sunday 23 June Benchmark 55 H’cap – 1800m
 
DON’T CHEAT CHARLIE – Shifted out under pressure near the 200 metres.
 
DOSSIER – Approaching the winning post shifted out abruptly. Jockey R. Wiggins was fined $200 for his use of the whip prior to the 100 metres.
 
AHMAH STAR – Near the 200 metres was eased when crowded between JETINTOIT and DON’T CHEAT CHARLIE, which shifted out under pressure.
 
RUFFY ROAD – After taking evidence from rider N. Summers and trainer of the gelding Mr G. Elliott, stewards adjourned an inquiry into Miss Summers riding of RUFFY ROAD.
 
 
Race 6:  TAB Calcutta Tickets On Sale Now! Class 1 H’cap – 1500m
 
MISTA MAYBE - Slow to begin. Overraced in the back straight.
 
ART SHE QUICK – Lost ground at the start after jumping away awkwardly.
 
ATTIQUE – Overraced in the back straight. Shifted ground and bumped QUADACUS near the 100 metres.
 
QUADACUS – Bumped by ATTIQUE near the 100 metres.
 
 
Race 7: Veuve Clicquot Enclosure – Saturday, 6 July Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
 
CAVELLTON – Slow to begin.
 
LADY BEC – Slow to begin.
 
SIEGE OF ENNIS – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.
 
HIDDEN GODDESS – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages.
 
FISH ‘N’ SNITZ – Shifted in slightly under pressure near the 300 metres.
 
BRANDY BALLOON – Jockey D. Simmons was reprimanded for shifting out near the 300 metres when not sufficiently clear of PAINTER’S REWARD.
 
PAINTER’S REWARD – Checked near the 300 metres when crowded between FISH ‘N’ SNITZ, which shifted in slightly, and BRANDY BALLOON, which shifted out.
 
HIDDEN THUNDER – Near the 50 metres was eased when crowded between BRANDY BALLOON and LADY BEC, both of which shifted ground slightly.
 
 
 
Race 8: Hairhouse Warehouse Rockhampton Tattersalls Sprint Open H’cap – 1200m
 
FOUR EXCEL – Began awkwardly. Shifted in slightly near the 1000 metres. Near the 600 metres, when overracing, shifted out after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of DOOGUS and bumped PEACOCK.
 
MR MARKOU – Became unbalanced after being bumped by REACH FOR HEAVEN (NZ) on jumping.
 
REACH FOR HEAVEN (NZ) – Jumped outwards at the start and bumped MR MARKOU.
 
WONDER BOOM – After passing the 1000 metres commenced to overrace and had to be checked when momentarily crowded between HEARTBREAK HARRY and FOUR EXCEL, which shifted in. Passing the 600 metres became unbalanced when bumped by PEACOCK, which had been bumped outwards by FOUR EXCEL. For the majority of the home straight hung inwards under pressure, resulting in its rider being unable to ride the horse out in his normal manner. Subsequently trainer P. Butterworth was informed that a warning would be issued against the horse for its racing manners.
 
PEACOCK - Near the 600 metres was bumped and carried outwards. Passing the 500 metres was eased to avoid the heels of HEARTBREAK HARRY, which laid inwards. Raced wide throughout.
