Trainer S Tregea
Trainer S Tregea was interviewed regarding his reasons for arriving slightly late for Race 7. After considering the explanation tendered by Mr Tregea, Stewards issued a reprimand under AR232(b) in that Mr Tregea had failed to comply with a direction of the Stewards to have PRIORITISE presented on course 3 hours prior to the scheduled start time as per QRIC’s recently introduce feature race policy. Mr Tregea was advised that another minor infraction of this direction may result in a significant penalty being imposed.
 
Trainer A Coome
Trainer A Coome was interviewed regarding his reasons for arriving slightly late for Race 7. After considering the explanation tendered by Mr Coome, Stewards issued a reprimand under AR232(b) in that Mr Coome had failed to comply with a direction of the Stewards to have POETIC HEART and SCRABBLE presented on course 3 hours prior to the scheduled start time as per QRIC’s recently introduce feature race policy. Mr Coome was advised that another minor infraction of this direction may result in a significant penalty being imposed.
 
Trainer A Coome was also fined $200 for having an unlicensed stable hand working in his stables.
 
Trainer L Herne
Trainer L Herne pleaded to guilty to a charge under AR232(b) in that she had failed to comply with a direction of the Stewards to have ESTIKHRAAJ presented on course 3 hours prior to the scheduled start time for Race 7 as per QRIC’s recently introduce feature race policy. Trainer Herne was fined $1000 with $500 suspended for a period of 12 months provided she did not breach the same rule again. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account that ESTIKHRAAJ was presented 27 minutes late.
 
 
Jockey B Stewart
As Jockey B Stewart had left the course without a clearance, Stewards have referred a matter to the Stewards panel at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club 07/07/2019 relating to Jockey Stewart’s use of the whip in Races 4 and 7 as well as he leaving the course without a clearance.
 
Trainer T Button
Acting on a report from the Integrity Investigations Team, Stewards interviewed Trainer T Button in relation to him being in possession of a plastic container allegedly containing Wind Aid of which Mr Button assured Stewards that no runner had received any throughout the meeting. After hearing submissions from Mr Button, Stewards adjourned the matter to a date to be fixed. Further to that, all of Mr Button’s runners were sampled and the plastic container seized for analyses.
 
Race 1: TAB QTIS Two-Years-Old Plate 1300m
 
KICK ONS – Dipped on a number of occasions in the home straight. Jockey B Stewart was fined $200 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metres.
 
MASTER JAMIE – Lost ground at the start after beginning awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
Race 2: The Capricornian BenchMark 69 Handicap 1400m
 
HEARTBREAK HARRY – Raced wide throughout. App. M Wishart, in the presence of Senior Jockey J. Stanley, was fined $100 for using the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metres.
 
OPTION – Slow to begin.
 
MAGIC WU – Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: Condon Financial BenchMark 65 Handicap 2215m
 
HIGH WIND – Raced wide from the 1400 metres. App. M Wishart, in the presence of Senior Jockey J. Stanley, was fined $300 for using the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metres.
 
BACKHOUSE BILLY – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MAC’S METTLE – Jumped outwards at the start and bumped ZOFFANY ROCKET.
 
ZOFANNY ROCKET – Bumped at the start.
 
Race 4: Phil Peel Jeweller Class 1 Handicap 1050m
 
WHOOSH – Jockey B Stewart was the rider of the gelding. Jumped inwards at the start and hampered CIRCUIT JUDGE and SANTISIMO. Trainer K Smyth reported that the gelding had suffered a laceration to the near hind leg.
 
CIRCUIT JUDGE – Hampered at the start.
 
SANTISIMO - Hampered at the start.
 
CHEEKY MILA – Tightened near the 800 metres by SALTY’S BOY.
 
SHE’S ON POINT – Rider reported that the saddle shifted to the near side on jumping, placing him at a disadvantage throughout. Raced wide throughout.
 
OTTO’S BROTHER – Raced wide throughout. App. M Wishart, in the presence of Senior Jockey J. Stanley, was fined $200 for using the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metres.
 
SALTY’S BOY – Shifted in near the 800 metres momentarily crowding CHEEKY MILA.
 
PRETTY RICKY - Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 5: Claude Green Memorial Class 3 Handicap 1200m
 
CAVELLTON – Slow to begin.
 
I’VE GOT FRIENDS – After being placed in the barrier, became fractious and reared. The gelding was removed from the barriers and examined by the veterinary surgeon subsequently being passed fit to run.
 
TOM’S STAR – Raced wide throughout. App. E Smith was fined $100 for using the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metres.
 
Race 6: PKF QTIS Three-Years-Old Plate 1600m
 
SHIRANDA – Jockey B El-Issa was fined $200 for using the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metres.
 
OUR TOP SHELF – Raced wide throughout. Near the 100 metres was carried wider on the track by MYWIFESAIDNO.
 
MYWIFESAIDNO – Raced wide throughout. Near the 1100 metres shifted outwards and carried OUR TOP SHELF wider on the track.
 
CHANAMARO – Over raced in the early stages.
 
LEGAL TIES – On arrival at the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run. Raced wide throughout.
 
POETIC REALITY – Began awkwardly resulting its rider losing his offside stirrup iron which he regained shortly after the start.
 
Race 7: Woolloam Constructions Rockhampton Cup Open Handicap 1600m
 
PRIORITISE – Raced wide throughout.
 
BALBOA ROCKS – Raced wide throughout.
 
ASTORIA – Raced wide throughout.
 
UNBIASED – Raced keenly in the early stages and raced wide throughout.
 
BOLD ASSASSIN – Slow to begin after being awkwardly.
 
POETIC HEART – Slow to begin.
 
SPRING CREEK – Jockey Q Krogh was the rider of the mare and Stewards accepted the reasons tendered by Trainer J O’Shea for the late declaration of the rider. Slow to begin.
 
SCRABBLE – App. M Murphy was the rider of gelding and Stewards accepted the reasons tendered by Trainer A Coome for the late declaration of the rider.
 
Race 8: Kelly Suli Appreciation Open Handicap 1050m
 
BOLD XAVVI – Began awkwardly and raced wide throughout. Checked near the 100 metres.
 
GYPSY TOFF – Hampered at the start FOUR EXCEL.
 
FOUR EXCEL – Jumped awkwardly out at the start and hampered GYPSY TOFF.
 
HANOVER SQUARE – Jockey B El-Issa was issued with a reprimand for allowing his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of BOLD XAVVI resulting in that runner having to be checked near the 100 metres.
