QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB – FRIDAY, 23 August 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – +5.5m entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. Hanson RACE 1: SMW GROUP OPEN HANDICAP - 1300m DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE – Began awkwardly, making contact with the outside partition. Jockey D. Simmons was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. HEARTBREAK HARRY – Overraced in the early stages and again in the vicinity of the 800m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of FOMO. RACE 2: ADAMS PLANT HIRE PTY LTD QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLDHANDICAP - 1300m BETTER THAN GROOVY – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, jockey D. Simmons stated he intended to ride his mount in a positive manner but was trapped wide in the early and middle stages, and rather than place his mount under pressure too early, elected to remain wide where his mount was comfortable. ASTRAL KNIGHT – Raced green when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. BURDEN – When questioned regarding the horse racing further back in the field in today’s event, jockey A. Sewell stated that after jumping only fairly and rather than being trapped wide elected to take hold of his mount and race further back with cover, but after attempting to take a position behind the leaders was shuffled further back than intended and as a result raced at the rear of the field. He added his mount laid out under pressure in the straight. ALL FOR HARRY – Rider M. Stephens reported his mount was reluctant to improve into a run from the vicinity of the 200m and as a result elected to shift wider around the heels of KICK ONS, but after improving into clear running his mount failed to respond to his riding. RACE 3: WOOLLAM CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 6 PLATE SET WEIGHTS –1050m MALKARA – Began awkwardly and shifted out, contacting SECUKRITY BELLE. Laid in under pressure in the straight. HIDDEN GODDESS – Was restrained on jumping away and shifted in behind runners. SECURITY BELLE – Was hampered on jumping away and blundered. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. ME MYUSELF AND I – Overraced in the early and middle stages. OUTBACK WARRIOR – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Jockey R. Wiggins advised that OUTBACK WARRIOR may have come to the end of its preparation. COLOSSEUM KING – Laid in under pressure in the straight. RACE 4: 2019 SPRING CARNIVAL PACKAGES ON SALE NOW!MAIDENHANDICAP - 1500m PRINCE NUTCRACKER – Overraced in the early stages and got is head in the air when attempted to be restrained. In the vicinity of the 400m was disappointed when a run closed after MONASHEE JACK shifted out. MONSIEUR JACK – Overraced in the early and middle stages. BUSTER MOON – Rider J. Stanley reported he became concerned with the action of the gelding and as a result elected not to place his mount under full pressure over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. MEATBALL – Was hampered on jumping away. REAGAN’S MISTAKE – Laid out under pressure in the straight. HARBOUR SKIES – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer D. Gardiner advised that subsequent to its last start he applied blinkers and a bubble cheeker to the approved gear and it had pleased in its work leading up to today’s race and, in his opinion, is more suitable racing over longer distances. RACE 5: DYNAMIC ELECTRICAL REFRIGERATION AND SOLARBENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP - 1600m DARTS AWAY – Raced in restricted room in the vicinity of the 200m to inside the 100m. In the incident made contact with the running rail and became awkward in its stride. DANE CHEVAL – Reared on jumping away. Laid in under pressure in the straight. RACE 6: XXXX GOLD CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1) - 1100m ELOQUENT BELLE – Stewards were advised of the late arrival of the horse on course. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration to the near foreleg and was declared a scratching at 3.24 pm. BOOMISTA – Attempted to buck shortly after jumping away and as a result lost considerable ground. Trainer Mr T. Button was advised that the horse would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. RACE 7: PIMM'S PARTY AT THE PARK CLASS 1 HANDICAP (2) - 1100m MY CERTAIN – In the vicinity of the 900m was obliged to steady after the pace slackened. Near the 50m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of SPIRIT’S SILK, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey B. Pengelly, rider of SPIRIT’S SILK, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding and his licence was suspended for a period of 8 days, to commence midnight, 31st August and to expire at midnight, 8 September. DELUXE EDITION – In the vicinity of the 900m was obliged to steady after the pace slackened. OUTSPOKEN – Slow to begin. SPIRIT’S SILK – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. CIRCUIT JUDGE – Raced wide without cover throughout. RACE 8: TROPICAL POOL MAINTENANCE RATINGS BAND 0 –55 HANDICAP - 1500m JETINTOIT – Stewards acceded to a request from trainer R. Shannon to replace senior jockey H. Phillips with apprentice jockey D. Graham as, in his opinion, the gelding is best suited being ridden by a female jockey. Reared on jumping away and lost considerable ground. Trainer R. Shannon was advised that the gelding must acquire a barrier certificate prior to its next race start. I’M ROSIE – In the vicinity of the 200m shifted out in an attempt to improve, carrying HYPER DRIVER out on to KUNGA GEORGE MUNGA, which was carried out on to WICKED QUEEN, which was obliged to steady.
