SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Rockhampton – Saturday 19 October 2019 – Race 6:
 
Jockey L. Tilley, the rider of 5th placegetter HUMBLE AND KIND, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR208(2) of failing to weigh in and was fined $500.
 
GENERAL
 
As L. Tilley was to be overweight in Races 2 and 3, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Tilley pleaded guilty to a charge under AR190(3) and was fined $300.
 
The following trainers were each fined $100 under LR67(1) for failing to declare riders for their runners by the prescribed time:
 
           Races 4 & 7 – S. Rundle (HUGS ‘N’ KISSES and STORMINA)
           Race 5 – R. Vale (MEATBALL)
           Race 6 – C. Garland (ALL PICKLED)
           Race 7 – W. Baulch (ROCK’N’ROLL BOBBY)
 
Race 1: ROCKHAMPTON MINI LOADS & TRUCK HIRE CLASS 6 PLATE – 1200M
 
GUISSOLA – Laid out under pressure in the straight.
 
MISTA BUSY – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Rider accidentally dropped his whip in the vicinity of the 400m.
 
ARCHIE’S SON – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages.
 
HIDDEN GODDESS – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout the event.
 
GLOBAL ROCKET – Slow to begin.
 
QUIDNI – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
SOUND INVESTMENT – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 2: ROCKHAMPTON BUSINESS MACHINES QTIS 3YO RATINGS BAND 0 – 60 H’CAP – 1300M
 
TYCOON FLYER – Contacted on jumping away.
 
MALVAGIO – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BOSS BABY – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
MARRON CHEVAL – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey W. D’Avila stated that he was instructed to ride his mount to lead in today’s event and after beginning well was able to take up a position in the lead. He added that his mount began to overrace in the early stages and as a result he elected to allow the filly to stride forward in an attempt to settle. He added that from the vicinity of the 400m he was aware of the gap he had placed on the remainder of the field and as a result elected to place his mount under full pressure and weakened over the concluding stages. He further added that in his opinion MARRON CHEVAL did not handle the step up in distance from its previous start at Mackay. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.
 
MISS CLAIR – Hung out throughout the event and in the vicinity of the 1000m hung out rounding the turn, placing its rider at a disadvantage. Trainer Mr G. Green was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of MISS CLAIR regarding hanging.
 
Race 3: TONY MCMAHON RACING CONSULTANCY OPEN H’CAP – 1100M
 
JACK LANCASTER – Raced wide without cover. Rider A. Sewell reported that in his opinion the horse failed to handle the quick backup from its last start in Mackay. Trainer L. Wright stated that he would report back on the horse’s condition in coming days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.
 
Race 4: KELE PROPERTY GROUP MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M
 
DEEJAYBEAT – Hampered on jumping away. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey D. Simmons stated that his mount failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer Ms O. Cairns was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
STAR VOYAGER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
WHAT A THOUGHT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
NORTHERN INSTINCT – Underwent a veterinary examination after breaking through the barriers and was passed fit to start. Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ASHTABULA – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
TOO MUCH LIP – Dislodged its rider en route to the barriers. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Jumped away awkwardly. Trainer Mr J. Wigginton was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s pre-race manners.
 
GRAND ALIBI – When questioned regarding GRAND ALIBI settling further forward in today’s event, jockey N. Summers stated that she was instructed to attempt to be positive on GRAND ALIBI, similar to how the gelding settled at its start at Emerald on 7 September. When questioned, trainer Ms G. Bell stated that she had given the rider instructions to settle on the pace at its most recent start at Rockhampton, however, the gelding was slow into stride. Stewards advised Ms Bell that if her instructions differ from the horse’s most recent racing pattern, she has an obligation under the rules to notify stewards of a potential change of tactics.
 
HUGS ‘N’ KISSES – Raced wide without cover.
 
Race 5: LJ HOOKER ROCKHAMPTON MELBOURNE CUP – TUESDAY 5 NOV BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1600M
 
BLUE SEAL – Had to check in the vicinity of the 100m to avoid the heels of MEATBALL, which shifted out when insufficiently clear. A. Sewell, the rider of MEATBALL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) and his licence to ride in races was suspended for 6 days, commencing midnight Sunday 27 October and expiring midnight Saturday 2 November 2019.
 
AHMAH STAR – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 6: THE ROCKS FASHIONS ON THE FIELD CLASS 3 PLATE – 1050M
 
ALL EEZ – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the vicinity of the 400m until inside the 100m.
 
SHENRON – Held up for clear running from the vicinity of the 400m until approaching the 200m.
 
WARNERS LANDING – Momentarily inconvenienced in the vicinity of the 500m by ELEGANT ZOUS, which shifted out whilst overracing.
 
SOLO MELODY – Raced wide throughout.
 
ELEGANT ZOUS – Jumped away awkwardly. Became awkwardly placed at the heels of SHE’S ON POINT in the vicinity of the 600m and was obliged to shift out, and in doing so momentarily inconvenienced WARNERS LANDING.
 
CASSAVANCE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.
 
Race 7: MELBOURNE CUP GRANDSTAND LUNCHEON – ON SALE NOW! CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
 
TERMINATE – Trainer Mr T. Cook advised stewards of a change of tactics to attempt to settle back with cover, and in doing so the horse settled last.
 
BESTERS – Shifted out abruptly in the vicinity of the 200m despite the efforts of its rider and then shortly thereafter shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
DIAMOND ACCOUNT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
MAN OF ENVY – Obliged to steady over the concluding stages.
 
FREE DROP – Reared on jumping away. Obliged to steady over the concluding stages.
 
NIGHTS ABLAZE – Had to be steadied in the vicinity of the 50m to avoid the heels of BESTERS, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey S. Sheargold, the rider of BESTERS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) and his licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, commencing midnight Sunday 27 October and expiring midnight Monday 4 November 2019.
 
STORMINA – Knuckled on jumping away.
 
SALTY’S BOY – Raced wide without cover throughout the event.
 
ROCK’N’ROLL BOBBY – Obliged to steady over the concluding stages.
