QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB, SATURDAY, 30 MAY 2020 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – 6M ENTIRE COURSE PENETROMETER – 4.45 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. Olsen __________________________ As jockey R. Oakford and jockey N. Stephens were indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet Race 1: XXXX Gold QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap – 1200m STARFILLY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after breaking through the barriers and was regathered shortly after and was passed fit to start. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. GOLDEN FEATURES – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Rider reported that after a tough run being trapped wide throughout, when asked for a finishing effort on straightening, ran to the line in a disappointing manner. EURO NO GO ZONE – Jumped away awkwardly. POINTO’S PICK – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight. SHEMADEMEDOIT – Jumped away awkwardly. Hung out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer Mr J. Rundle was advised SHEMADEMEDOIT would be required to race tractably in an official trial prior to a future race start. BEAUTIFUL CHELSEY- Slow to begin. EMPIRE PRINCESS – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey B. Appo stated that after being trapped wide his mount failed to respond to his riding entering the home straight and went to the line in a disappointing manner. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. AMOREM – In the vicinity of the 400m was momentarily held up for clear running and was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running. BEGS BELIEF – In the vicinity of the 300m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of SHEMADEMEDOIT, which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Race 2: Chris Warren Homes QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1100m Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to review the start to ascertain if the starter had correctly effected the start. It was ascertained that as the start was effected MARRON CHEVAL had lunged at the gates, but the stewards and the starter were comfortably satisfied that this had no bearing on the start being effected and as such correct weight was declared. POUND TO POUND – Underwent a prerace veterinary examination after contacting the rail en route to the barriers and was passed fit to start. MARRON CHEVAL – Lunged forward as the start was effected and as a result jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride. BOSS BABY – Was momentarily held up for clear running in the vicinity of the 500m and was obliged to shift wider to improve into clear running. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 3: Empire Apartment Hotel Maiden H’cap – 1100m The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes owing to BUWAN being required to undergo a veterinary examination. TASSHANKA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not starting in the past 12 months and was passed fit to start. BUWAN – Underwent a prerace veterinary examination after contacting the rail en route to the barriers and was passed fit to start. METTRE LE FEU - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not starting after an extended break and was passed fit to start. BLUE LANYARD – Jumped away awkwardly. In the vicinity of the 800m became awkwardly placed on heels and had to be steadied. LIKE MELANIA – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride. Jockey B. Appo reported that his mount became awkward in its action for no reason in the vicinity of the 300m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. KNIGHT FLIGHT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not starting in the past 12 months and passed fit to start. Jumped away awkwardly. In the vicinity of the 900m had to be restrained whilst racing in restricted room between BROOK’S GIRL and ACCELERANT, both of which shifted ground marginally. Laid in under pressure in the straight. KRUPT AS ‘ER – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. SERIOUS SYMPHONY – Slow to begin. ACCELERANT – Laid in under pressure in the straight. METTRE LE FEU – Raced wide throughout. WREN PLUCKED – Jockey Z. White pleaded guilty to a charge of excessive use of the whip, in that she used her whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 13 times in total and was fined $200. When determining penalty stewards took into account Jockey Z Whites poor record in relation to whip breaches. DIP DYE – Laid in under pressure in the straight. Raced wide throughout. Race 4: Milner Constructions Pty Ltd Open H’cap – 1400m POETIC HEART – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and was slow into stride. Trainer Mr A. Coome was advised that POETIC HEART would be required to jump with the field in an official jump out prior to a future race start. HEYINGTON – Laid in under pressure in the straight. SWORD OF JUSTICE – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 5: The Uniform Centre Benchmark 69 H’cap – 1100m ALL EEZ – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, contacting ALERT BY SEA. Laid out rounding the home turn. MARGOT – Slow to begin. Hung out severely when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer B. Johnson was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next race start. ALERT BY SEA – Contacted on jumping away. HIDDEN GODDESS – Jumped away awkwardly. PARISIAN TYCOON – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Race 6: Victoria Tavern Class 3 Plate – 1400m MR RESETTI – Declared a late scratching at 8.26 am after trainer R. Meek was experiencing transport difficulties and couldn’t attend the meeting. GLADISHING – As jockey N. Stephens was indisposed, jockey N. Summers was substituted as the rider of the horse. EARL OF FORDYCE – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages. KINGS COUNTY – Jumped away awkwardly and overraced in the early stages. PRETTY MAMA –Underwent a prerace veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin. THAT’S TWO SLABS – A post race veterinary examination revealed failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 7: Winstondale Spraying Contractors Class 2 Plate – 1050m DOOM – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. HAZAR – Jumped away awkwardly. Contacted in the vicinity of the 50m. BROOK’S PLEASURE – Slow to begin. Jockey E. Smith advised stewards that, in her opinion, after being slow to begin her mount was not suited to racing at the back of the field. She added she would advise trainer G. Bell to remove the tail when loaded into the barriers. OUTSPOKEN – Slow to begin. GISELLE – Contacted on jumping away. In the vicinity of the 900m became awkwardly placed on heels and shifted out, carrying IRONORE GINA out on to RURAL REBEL, which was carried out onto HEYGERONIMO, which was hampered. RURAL REBEL – In the vicinity of the 900m was hampered and carried wider by IRONORE GINA, which was carried out by GISELLE. HEYGERONIMO – In the vicinity of the 900m was hampered and carried wider. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and obliged to shift out to improve into clear running. Race 8: Walkers Hot Bread Shop Class 1 H’cap – 1200m SEQUALO’S SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Jockey B Pengelly will be interviewed in relation to his whip use in the straight. WIDE LOAD – As R. Oakford was indisposed, J. Stanley was substituted as the rider. BROOKVILLE – When questioned in relation to the performance, apprentice E Smith stated that her mount never felt comfortable at any stage. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. HUGS ‘N’ KISSES – Laid out under pressure in the straight. LEGAL ASSET – As Jockey M Stephens was indisposed, stewards granted permission for apprentice E Bell to ride LEGAL ASSET 1.5kg overweight as she was the only available rider. TALA RIKISA – In the vicinity of the 200m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of HUGS ‘N’ KISSES which shifted out marginally. Jockey G Goomany, rider of HUGS ‘N’ KISSES, was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future. *********************************** GENERAL Jockey Zoe White was found guilty of a charge of improper conduct under the provisions of AR228(c) in that prior to the running of race 6 behind the barriers used foul language towards Dr S. Olsen whilst she was performing her duties examining PRETTY MAMA. Subsequently Jockey White was fined the sum of $500. Stewards acting under AR283(5) suspended $200 of the penalty for a period of 2 years. Trainer Bevan Johnson pleaded guilty to a charge of improper conduct under the provisions of AR228(c) in that following the running of race 5 in the vacinity of the mounting enclosure, used foul language directed towards stewards whilst they were performing their duties. Subsequently Trainer Johnson was fined the sum of $500. Stewards acting under AR283(5) suspended $200 of the penalty for a period of 2 years.
