Laid in under pressure in the straight. POINTO’S PICK – Shortly after jumping away had to be restrained to avoid the heels of IMALI, which shifted in whilst racing ungenerously. In this incident brushed the running rail on a number of occasions. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight. ASK ME TOMORROW – Laid in under pressure in the straight. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey B. Pengelly stated that ASK ME TOMORROW failed to show its strong finishing effort and was of the opinion that the gelding had come to the end of its preparation. Trainer T. Smith advised stewards that ASK ME TOMORROW would be spelled. ALEYSA’S DREAM – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.IMALI – Rider reported that her mount raced ungenerously throughout the event and had to be restrained off heels on a number of occasions. Trainer J. Manzelmann stated that it is his intention to experiment with IMALI’S gear prior to a future race start. Stewards advised Mr Manzelmann that a warning would be placed on therecord of IMALI in relation to its racing manners. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 2: Kennas Maiden H’cap – 1100mThe start of this race was delayed 5 minutes due to the 2 late scratchings of TASHANKA and BRAHLINA.TASHANKA – Declared a late scratching at 12.27 pm after refusing to load. Following correct weight, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable.0 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets6 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win6 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets7 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place betsTrainer W. Weeks was advised that TAHSANKA would be required to obtain a barrier certificate prior to a future race start. BRANLINA – Declared a late scratching at 12.29 pm. After being fractious during the loading process was examined by the on-course veterinarian and ruled unfit to race. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.0 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets5ents in the dollar on the face value of pace bets for the win4 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets5 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place betsTrainer Mr J. Pointon was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required and also BRANLINA would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to a future race start.KRUPT AS ‘ER – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the middle stages and in the vicinity of the 1000mm raced with its head in the air for a number of strides. METTRE LE FEU – Laid in under pressure in the straight.,FAST SONG – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not competing for an extended period and was passed fit to start. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey S. Wiseman stated that her mount, which weakened noticeably over the concluding stages, may have been disadvantaged from carrying 60 kilograms in today’s event and advised that FAST SONG would be better suited racing further back with cover rather than leading.. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Following the running of this event the track rating was downgraded to Soft 5 at 12.43 pmRace 3: Michel’s Patisserie Open H’cap – 1050mHIDDEN GOODESS – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages. CYCLONE FUGITIVE – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery and minor signs of thumps. Race 4: Red Lion Hotel Class 3 Plate – 1050mELLEGANT ZOUS – Trainer A. Coome was reprimanded under LR67 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. When assessing penalty, stewards were mindful that this was the first time trainer A. Coome had been spoken to in regards to this rule.CHEVY NOVA – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and until inside the 400m. CHILLI PRAWN – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the straight.MAD IRISH TYCOON – Jumped away awkwardly. SFILZA – Jumped away awkwardly. SOJOURNISH – Raced in restricted room from the 500m until inside the 400m and was obliged to shift in to improve. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. ELEGANT ZOUS – Raced wide throughout. DANCING TYCOON – Upon return to its stable, stable representative T Cook informed stewards that DANCING TYCOON had bled from both nostrils and therefore under the provisions of AR79(4) it would now incur a 3 month bar from racing and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to its next race start. Following this event, the track racing was downgraded to Soft 6 at 1.50 pmRace 5: South Geldard Lawyers Open H’cap – 1500mSHIRANDA – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages.HOWICK – Slow to begin. Trainer A. Coome stated that HOWICK would be leaving his stable. HEYINGTON – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was unable to shift out to improve until HOWICK which was racing to its outside began to weaken from the vicinity of the 350m and was able to shift out and improve into clear running. MACHJO TYCOON – Laid out rounding the home turn. Race 6: The Professionals Livingston Molloy Real Estate Class 6 Plate – 1200mSTAR SILK – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.NORTH AFRICA – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. SMUG SATISFACTION – Trainer T. Button was fined $100 for presenting the horse in incorrect gear. Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey C. Whiteley was reprimanded for using his whip in an action which raised his whip arm above shoulder height. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery. Race 7: Trend Interiors Tile & Carpet Court QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1300mHEY PAL – Slow to begin. RED SATIN – Slow to begin. SCANDINA - Slow to begin. BUSH BEAT ROCKET – Slow to begin. LEGAL ASSET – Dipped on jumping away and as a result was slow to begin. CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Race 8: Rockhampton Cup Friday 17 July Benchmark 58 H’cap – 1400mCELOSIA – Correct weight was delayed to allow C. Russell and jockey S. Wiseman, trainer and jockey of CELOSIA, to view the stewards’ patrol footage of the start of the race. After being the films it was ascertain that as the start was effected, CELOSIA’s gate failed to open with the remainder of the field and as a result was denied a fair start. Acting under AR204(1)(a), CELOSIA was deemed to be a non-runner, with the following deductions applicable:3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets3 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win3 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets4 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place betsBROKEN FINGER - Stewards also examined the patrol films in relation to BROKEN FINGER being denied a fair start.
