SUPPLEMANTARY REPORT
From Rockhampton Tuesday19 May 2020 Race 1.
Jockey N Seymour rider of DACXI DELIVERS was reprimanded under AR131(d) for excessively slowing the pace of the race in the vicinity of the 900m. As a result ASK ME TOMORROW, I FEEL REAL and CAT IN THE REINE all had to be steadied for several strides.
From Rockhampton Saturday 13 June 2020 Race 6.
Jockey C Whiteley was found guilty of a charge under AR132(6)(a) for using his whip in an action forward of his mounts shoulder and was fined $200. In accessing penalty, stewards took into account Jockey Whiteleys clear record in relation to this rule over a long period and that Jockey Whiteleys whip contacted SMUG SATISFACTION forward of the shoulder and not in the vicinity of the head.

Race 1: 30 Days of Gratitude – Jaime Parnell QTIS 2yo & 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1050m
CRAIGLEA MARKITA – Declared a late scratching at 11 am after refusing to proceed to the barriers. Following the event, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable:
2 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
5 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win
3 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
8 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
Trainer K. Johnson was advised that CRAIGLEA MARKITA would be required to proceed to the barriers in an official trial prior to a future race start.
CHARLOTTE RULES – Reared on jumping away and as a result dislodged its rider. Jockey N. Summers was examined by the ambulance officers and was passed fit to fulfil her remaining engagements. Following the running of this event, stewards were notified that when the veterinarian attempted to examine the filly post race, CHARLOTTE RULES had been removed from the course within the prescribed time. Trainer D. Johnston was advised that CHARLOTTE RULES would need to obtain a barrier certificate for rearing on jumping away, and also need to provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to its next race start. Trainer D. Johnston was fined $200 for leaving the course with the horse prior to the prescribed time.
OLLIE’S STAND – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. In the vicinity of the 900m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of MATAGORDA, which had to take evasive action to avoid the riderless horse.
MATAGORDA – In the vicinity of the 900m had to take evasive action to avoid the heels of EMILEE’S EMPIRE, which was carried wider by the riderless horse.
EMILEE’S EMPIRE – In the vicinity of the 900m was inconvenienced and taken wider by the riderless horse. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider N. Seymour was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip.
OSHI BAY – In the vicinity of the 900m was inconvenienced and carried wider by EMILEE’S EMPIRE, which was carried out by the riderless horse.
GOLDEN FEATURES – Laid out rounding the turn.
Race 2: Allenstown Square Meats QTIS 2yo & 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1050m
The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes owing to the late scratching of CRAIGLEA CHANTILLY on veterinary advice at 11.42 am. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with following deductions applicable.

Trainer K. Johnston was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to a future race start.
CHESTO’S DREAM – Trainer A. Coome was reprimanded under AR103(4)(c) for failing to lodge a stable return prior to acceptance time. Bumped on entering the home straight.
CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the straight. Rider S. Wiseman reported that after being headed by the eventual winner KOTABHARU in the straight, her mount began to weaken noticeably, but, in her opinion, would derive benefit from today’s run. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
BETHIA – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running for a short distance on entering the home straight.
KOTABHARU – Overraced for a short distance passing the 900m when being restrained to find cover. Was momentarily held up on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running, and in doing so contacted CHESTO’S DREAM
CRAIGLEA CINDY – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
MRS SENNA – Raced green under pressure in the straight.
STRICTLY PHYSICAL – Rider M. Butler pleaded guilty to a charge of excessive use of his whip in that he used his whip 15 times prior to the 100m. Jockey M. Butler’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, to commence midnight 23 June and to conclude midnight 30 June 2020.
Race 3: BFB Scaffolding Maiden H’cap – 1200m
The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes.
BLAME IT ON PARIS – Underwent a prerace veterinary examination after not starting in the past 12 months and was passed fit to start.
ACCELERANT – Was contacted on jumping away.
PRINCESS CARTIER – Bumped on jumping away.
SPLENDID FUN – Jumped away awkwardly, contacting the inside barrier partition. Jockey Z. White advised that in this incident she contacted her right leg, placing her under a slight disadvantage throughout. Jockey White was examined by ambulance officers and was passed fit to fulfil her remaining engagements. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
FIORETICAL – Slow to begin. In the vicinity of the 900m had to be restrained after improving onto heels. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
PEERLESS CRUISE – In the vicinity of the 900m had to be restrained after improving onto heels.
A GIRL LIKE ALICE – Laid out rounding the home turn.
I AM CLEVER – In the vicinity of the 400m was momentarily inconvenienced when having to avoid the heels of EVERYNOW’N’THEN, which shifted out to improve. Jockey C. Whiteley, rider of EVRYNOW’N’THEN, was reminded to be clear when shifting ground in future.
EVRYNOW’N’THEN – Raced green when placed under pressure in the straight.
KNIGHT FIGHT – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
KRUPT AS ‘ER – Raced wide throughout.
Race 4: Black Nugget Hotel Class 2 H’cap – 1050m
SOLOMON – Jumped away awkwardly, contacting the outside barrier partition. Approaching the 500m became awkwardly placed on the heels of CALCULATED RISK, which shifted out. Jockey L. Tilley, rider of CALCULATED RISK, was reminded of her obligations to be clear when shifting ground in future. Approaching the 100m raced in restricted room for a number of strides.
SHEEZASINGA – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Jockey R. Wiggins stated that, in his opinion, the horse may have come to the end of its preparation.
CALCULATED RISK – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Laid out under pressure in the straight. Trainer C. Smith was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of CALCULATED RISK in relation to hanging out.
SHE’S OUR RIPPA - Raced green under pressure in the straight. Approaching the 200m shifted out despite the efforts of its rider, hampering FOURGRANDMAN and after being corrected shifted in, hampering MIRACULOUS.
ISIS JECTALE – Held up for clear running for a number of strides approaching the 300m.
MIRACULOUS – In the vicinity of the 200m was inconvenienced by SHE’S OUR RIPPA, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
FOURGRANDMAN – In the vicinity of the 200m was inconvenienced by SHE’S OUR RIPPA, which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
RAPTCHA’U – A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 5: Empire Apartment Hotel Class 2 H’cap – 1050m
GAFFA – As M. Stephens was indisposed, N. Seymour was permitted to be substituted as the rider of the horse.
DOOM – In the vicinity of the 900m was momentarily inconvenienced by CINCO STAR, which was carried in by TARTUFO BIANCO.
CINCO STAR – In the vicinity of the 900m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of TARTUFO BIANCO, which shifted in when insufficiently clear to do so. Apprentice E. Smith, rider of TARTUFO BIANCO, was severely reprimanded and advised to make greater efforts to stop riding and straighten her mounts when they shift ground in future.
NOT LIABLE – In the vicinity of the 900m had to be restrained after becoming awkwardly placed on the running rail whilst racing ungenerously. Jockey R. Wiggins, rider of NOT LIABLE, stated that approaching the 900m his mount began to take hold of him and proved difficult to ride making the home turn. Trainer J. Wigginton was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of NOT LIABLE in relation to its racing manners.
Race 6: Ironmonger Shipping Agencies QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1400m
HEY PAL – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey S. Wiseman stated that after being slow to begin, was caught wide in the early stages. She added that her mount began to race keenly when attempting to find cover behind LLANO. She further stated that her mount failed to settle and raced on the heels of LLANO for a number of strides, and as such elected to shift wider and attempt to improve around the field. Jockey Wiseman added on entering the home straight her mount weakened noticeably over the concluding stages.
POGO – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced green under pressure in the straight.
TALES OF EPSILON – Reared on jumping away. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Became awkwardly placed on heels in the vicinity of the 1000m.
ESPEREUS – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and was slow to begin.
FLAME PRINCESS – Was held up for clear running from the vicinity of the 400m until inside the 100m and had to shift wider on the track to improve into clear running.
LLANO – Raced wide throughout.
VERMUTIN – Rider reported her mount resented racing in restricted room when placed under pressure in the straight and became awkwardly placed on the heels of RED SATIN over the concluding stages.
Race 7: Rejuvenate Wellness Centre Open H’cap – 1100m
RAIDEN - Prior to the declaration of correct weight, the stewards identified that Jockey B. Pengelly had struck his mount on 8 occasions prior to the 100m and 15 times in total. Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that RAIDEN had had gained an advantage in breaching AR132(7)(a)(ii) and therefore elected to not exercise their powers under AR132(10) to lodge a protest and correct weight was declared. Jockey B. Pengelly pleaded guilty to a charge of excessive use of the whip and was fined $500. In assessing penalty, stewards were mindful that RAIDEN was the winner of the event and also took into account B. Pengelly’s record in relation to whip breaches. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 500m shifted in whilst being restrained off heels, hampering CONCA DEL SOGNO.
CONCA DEL SOGNO – In the vicinity of the 500m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of CASINO THOUGHTS, which shifted in whilst overracing.
SHIGERU MAHOGANY – Rider H. Richardson pleaded guilty to excessive use of the whip and was fined $100. In assessing penalty stewards took into account Jockey Richardsons excellent record.
SPRING CREEK – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey C. Whitely stated that after being slow away and rather than being trapped wide from the an outside barrier elected to shift in and race at the tail of the field.
Race 8: The Uniform Centre Open H’cap – 1100m
POETIC HEART – Contacted the outside barrier partition on jumping away. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey J. Stanley stated that his mount travelled well throughout but when placed under pressure on entering the home straight his mount failed to respond to his urgings and went to the line in a disappointing manner. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
HEYINGTON – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride.
BARACHIEL – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight and obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
Race 9: 2020m Rockhampton Cup – 17 July Class 3 H’cap – 1500m
QUIDNI – Stewards acceded to a request from trainer A. Coome to remove blinkers from the gelding. Mr Coome subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge under AR206(2) for the late removal of blinkers and was fined $100.
GRACEFUL GIFT – As jockey M. Stephens was indisposed, jockey S. Wiseman was permitted to be substituted as the rider of the horse.
FINUCANE MISSILE – Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey J. Stanley to view the stewards footage in relation to the start of the race to determine if he was denied a fair start. On review of the film it was ascertained that as the start was effected the barrier attendant had hold of the bridle of FINUCANE MISSILE and continued to hold the gelding after the start was effected and as a result denied the gelding the opportunity to jump with the field. As such FINUCANE MISSILE was declared a non runner. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

Race 10: Tony Madden Architects Pty Ltd Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1200m
SIR MAGIC – As G. Steele was unavailable to attend the meeting, S. Wiseman was permitted to be substituted as the rider.
NADEEM ESPRIT – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
SEQUABLUR – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
SOJOURNIST – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey B. Appo pled guilty to a charge of excessive use of the whip and his licence was suspended for a period of 6 days, to commence at midnight, 30 June and to conclude at midnight, 6 July. Trainer J. McConachy was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of SOJOURNIST in relation to hanging.
UNDERWOOD – Overraced in the early and middle stages and became awkwardly placed on heels entering the home straight.
SHENRON – Overraced throughout the event. Laid out rounding the home turn. Jockey T. Chambers pleaded guilty to a charge of excessive use of the whip and her licence to ride in races was suspended for 13 days, to commence at midnight 23 June and to concludes at midnight ,6 July 2020.
