General
All runners that competed in the past 7 days underwent a pre race veterinary examination and were passed fit to start.
 
Following the running of Race 4, Jockey J Bayliss was stood down from his remaining engagements. Changes were made as per the stewards raceday sheet.
 
 
Race 1: BECOME A MEMBER 2021 Maiden Plate 1300 metres
 
CARLIN TREND – Was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 9.15am. Trainer Mr R. Vale was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to a future race start.
 
ESPEREUS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
NAVARRE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
MY BYE – Jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 300m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of NEWSHOUND which shifted out to obtain cover. Jockey B. Appo, rider of NEWSHOUND was reminded of his obligations to be clear when shifting ground in future.
 
NEWSHOUND – Hampered on jumping away. Held up for clear running approaching the 300m and was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
 
GRACIOUS JAZZ – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 100m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MAGNATE which laid in under pressure. Jockey M. McGillivray, rider of MAGNATE was reminded of his obligations to be clear when shifting ground in future.
 
FIORETICA – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after competing in the past 7 days and was passed fit to start. When questioned regarding the gelding leading in todays event, Jockey H Phillips stated that it was not her intention to settle forward but after beginning well and from a wide barrier elected to make use of her early gate speed. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding lost its off fore plate in running. Jockey H Phillips was fined $300 for using her whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more then permitted under the rule.
 
 
RACE 2: HAPPY 60TH JAMES LARKIN CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1400 METRES
 
 
CAVELLTON – Jumped away awkwardly. Was held up for clear running on entering the home straight to approaching the 150m when being able to obtain a narrow run between BOLD EOS and FANX. When improving into the run was momentarily inconvenienced by FANX which laid in under pressure contacting the hind quarters of CAVELLTON.
 
BOLD EOS – Approaching the 150m was momentarily inconvenienced by CAVELLTON which improved into a run to the mares outside. When questioned regarding the performance of BOLD EOS, Jockey R Wiggins could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance but added when placed under pressure his mount weakened noticeably and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery.
 
FANX – Approaching the 150m, laid in contacting the hind quarters of CAVELLTON which was improving to the geldings inside. As a result of the incident FANX shifted wider becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of GYPSEY BIKER. Lost its off hind leg in running.
 
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Good 3.
 
Following this event Jockey J. Bayliss was examined by on course Ambulance Officers and was passed fit to fulfill his remaining engagements.
 
RACE 3: RAMSAY PHARMACY ROCKHAMPTON QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 METRES
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 mins.
 
CASH GAME – Jumped away awkwardly. On entering the home straight was hampered and became awkward in its stride after LYNN’S LANE rolled in marginally contacting the hind quarters of CASH GAME.
 
LILY OFTHE GLEN – Slow to begin and inconvenienced shortly after jumping. Trainer advised that the filly had lacerations to the off fore leg.
 
LYNN'S LANE – Laid in under pressure in the straight. Jockey M Murphey was find $600 for using his whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m, 3 more then permitted under the rule.
 
SIP IT SLOW – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SCORIA STAR – Raced fierce in the early stages of the event. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
 
RACE 4: PATLAW SECURITIES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 METRES
 
DISCO LIGHTS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 800m was hampered by JINABELLE which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.
 
BOLD AND LUCY – Slow to begin. Approaching the 800m was hampered by JINABELLE which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.
 
JINABELLE – Severely hampered on jumping away. Ran off making the first turn and continued to overrace throughout the event. Trainer R Williams was advised JINABELLE would be required to gain a further barrier certificate prior to a future race start.
 
SAINT NO MORE – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages.
 
ARTEMIS GIRL – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after competing in the past 7 days and was passed fit to start.
 
READY BETTY - Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after competing in the past 7 days and was passed fit to start.
 
FINAL CRIME – Hampered on jumping away.
 
PRINCESS AMITY – Had to be restrained after improving onto heels passing the 700m.
 
MATAGORDA – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
 
Following the running of this event Jockey J Bayliss was again examined by the on course Ambulance Officers and was stood down from his remaining engagements. Jockey Bayliss was advised that he would require a medical clearance prior to any future engagements.
 
RACE 5: LJ HOOKER ROCKHAMPTON RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1100 METRES
 
AT THE HELM – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
LOUIE THE LEGEND – Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight.
 
DIP DYE – When questioned regarding the performance of the Mare, apprentice M Potgieter advised that the mare failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
DJEBEL READY – Fractious as the start was effected and jumped awkwardly. Rider reported that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event. A post race veterinary examination reveal a poor post race recovery.
 
OUTSPOKEN – Trainer R Williams advised that the mare would be retired.
 
 
RACE 6: MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM EVERYONE AT THE RJC RATINGS BAND 0 - 70 HANDICAP 1600 METRES
 
DON'T WAIVER – Overraced in the early stages.
 
SCHAPPOSE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
STONE WARRIOR – Rider was reprimanded for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, one more then permitted under the rule.
 
HADRIAN – A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery.
 
TOKAREV – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
 
COMBATTANT DE RUE – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
 
RACE 7: HAPPY RETIREMENT NEVILLE "MAGPIE" MITCHELL CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1300 METRES
 
OKIE – When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey A Butler stated that from the wide barrier he settled at the rear of the field but OKIE never travelled at any stage of the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer P Bannon was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to a future race start.
 
ASK NINO – Overraced in the early stages. Jockey N Seymour was reprimanded for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more then permitted under the rule.
 
AMOREM – Held up for clear running from the 300m to the 200m.
 
DUAN PHOENIX - Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after competing in the past 7 days and was passed fit to start.
 
 
RACE 8: RACING TUESDAY 29 DECEMBER 2020 MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP QUALIFIER O 1200 METRES
 
BETTER REFLECTION – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
MR PHENOMENAL – Slow into stride, Passing the 1000m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of MACHA TYCOON which shifted in when insufficiently clear to do so. Jockey B Appo rider of MACHO TYCOON pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding and was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 19th December to midnight 26th December 2020.
 
NIEWAND – Knuckled on jumping away.
 
JAY JAY – Slow into stride.
 
LITTLE HUNTER – Trainer advised of a change of tactics to settle midfield with cover if possible. Settled back.
 
 
RACE 9: BECOME A CLUB 150 MEMBER IN 2021 RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1600 METRES
 
BONVILLE - Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after competing in the past 7 days and was passed fit to start.
 
CRAIGLEA ARION – As Jockey A Spinks was unable to fulfill his engagement due to transport difficulties, stewards permitted Jockey B Appo to ride CRAIGLEA ARION.
 
TONTEIN – Overraced in the early stages. Approaching the 900m had to be restrained after improving into heels.
 
OR ELSE – Underwent a prerace veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. A post race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to the near hind leg.
 
FLAT TO STACK – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift out approaching the 400m to improve. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
GLADISHING – Became awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 200m and had to shift in to improve.
