GENERAL
As apprentice D McGillivray was unable to attend today’s race meeting, stewards approved changes as per the stewards race day summary.
 
Race 1: GAVIN NORTHFIELD APPRECIATION Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
MAGNATE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
PRINCE OF MOROCCO – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the winning post by GEOFFROY, which improved into a narrow run.
 
GEOFFROY – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight till approaching the 100m and was able to obtain a narrow run between PRINCE OF MOROCO and ONE MORE FIELD.
 
STELLAR WITNESS – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 2: CHRIS WARD APPRECIATION Class 3 Plate 1050 metres
 
AUXIN – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SANTORINI SUMMER – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from both nostrils on the first occasion. Trainer Mr J McConachy was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).
 
BOLD HUNTER – Reared on jumping away. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
MAN O' ROSS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
MIRACULOUS – Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
MORE THAN LIKELY- Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 3: WILLIAM PIKE AT CALLAGHAN PARK - 8-10 JULY
BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1800 metres
 
RUFFIN' IT (NZ) – Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer advised the gelding would now be spelled.
 
MANHATTAN SPECTOR (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Lost near fore plate in running.
 
EXELANT MOSH – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 4: CLUB 150 BATTLERS CUP BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 2200 metres
 
MEATBALL – Hampered on jumping away.
 
BROMES -Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
LEFKAS ISLAND – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
LITTLE ARNIE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from both nostrils on the first occasion. Trainer Mr T Button was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).
 
TONTEIN – Jumped away awkwardly contacting the outside barrier partition. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAGIC WISHES – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Race 5: THE REAL GROUP NEWMARKET 9 JULY Class 1 Handicap
1500 metres
 
NO HARM DONE – Slow to begin.
 
RIGHT BOWER – Raced wide in the early stages of the event.  Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
NAVARRE – Raced wide throughout the event. Rider C. Caserta was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. In determining penalty stewards took into account this was Jockey Caserta’s fourth offence since 8 August 2020.
 
Race 6: PAVSCORP ROCKHAMPTON CUP - SATURDAY 10 JULY Class
2 Handicap 1200 metres
LODESTAR – Passing the 300m was momentarily inconvenienced after brushing MISS READY NOW when attempting a narrow run.
 
OYASHIO – Hampered on jumping away. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
CAPTAIN FOX – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Rider J Baker was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. When determining penalty stewards took into account this is Jockey Bakers second offence since 8 August 2020.
 
HINVICTUS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 700m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of LODESTAR. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and had to shift out to improve.
 
ROSTRUM – Slow to begin.
 
KARENO – Disappointed for a run approaching the 300m and had to shift out to improve.
 
DEVINE APPROACH – When questioned in relation to performance, jockey A Sewell stated that his mount put in an awkward stride on entering the home straight and failed to let down.
 
MISS READY NOW – Slow to begin. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 300m after LODESTAR improved to its outside.
 
POETIC PETE – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Race 7: ROCKHAMPTON BUSINESS MACHINES TATTERSALL'S SPRINT
OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey B El’Issa to view the stewards patrol footage to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection. As Jockey El’Issa declined to lodge and objection stewards declared correct weight.
 
BOLD XAVVI – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
GYPSY TOFF – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
HEZHOME – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
REVENIRE – Approaching the 150m had to be restrained after racing in restricted room between MARENO and GYPSY TOFF. In the incident GYPSY TOFF laid in resulting in REVENIRE contacting the hindquarter of GYPSY TOFF.
