General
Due to the meeting being rescheduled from Sunday 27 June 2021 resulting in multiple riders being unable to attend today’s race meeting, stewards permitted the riding changes as per the stewards race day summary.
 
Race 1: THE REAL GROUP PRESENTS WILLIAM PIKE Maiden Handicap 1500 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed owing to the bridle of REFUTATION being required to be replaced behind the barriers after it broke during the loading process.
 
BOOM RAIDER – Slow to begin. Rider R. Wiggings was fined $800 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. In determining penalty stewards took into account this was Jockey Wiggings twelfth offence since 8 August 2020.
 
GOLD CHORUS – Slow to begin.
 
AVESUM PIXIE DUST – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
THORBEN – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: COLIN & RUBY DODSON MEMORIAL Class 6 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider a protest lodged by R Stewart, rider of 3rd placegetter, PRINCESS RULES, against LINGALONGA LASS and THE EGYPTIAN, who dead heated for first, alleging interference over the final 200m. Stewards also considered a protest lodged by R Wiggins, rider of PRINCESS RULES, against LINGALONGA LASS who dead heated for first, alleging interference over the final 200m. Stewards also considered a protest lodged by D Johnston, Trainer of LINGALONGA LASS against THE EGYPTIAN, who dead heated for first, alleging interference over the final 200m. After considering all the evidence Stewards found that approaching the 150m PRINCESS RULES shifted out marginally contacting the hind quarters of LINGALONGA LASS resulting in LINGALONGA LASS being turned in and brushing PRINCESS RULES for a number of strides. Stewards also found that THE EGYPTIAN laid out under pressure over the concluding stages but made minimal contact with PRINCESS RULES.  Bearing in mind the initial contact between PRINCESS RULES and LINGALONGA LASS and the lack of any significant interference resulting from this shift to THE EGYPTIAN, Stewards dismissed all protests.
 
 
 
THE EGYPTIAN – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
FANAAR (NZ) – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
PRINCESS RULES – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. Approaching the 150m shifted out contacting the hindquarters of LINGALONGAL LASS, resulting in PRINCESS RULES being buffeted for a number of strides.
 
LINGALONGA LASS – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 150m had its hindquarters contacted by PRINCESS RULES and was inconvenienced for a number of strides.
 
SCORCHA – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Race 3: TAB CALCUTTA - 8 JULY QTIS Two-Year-Old & Three-Year-Old Maiden Handic 1100 metre
 
The start of this race was significantly delayed owning to the four protests in race two and also I’M STROLLING requiring farrier attention behind the barriers.
 
TABMAN – Hampered on jumping away.  Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
BLUE JACKET – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and couldn’t be fully tested in the run to the line.
 
KASINOVA KID – Slow to begin.
 
DEVILSPREDICTION – Hampered on jumping away.
 
SECRET KING – Hampered on jumping away.
 
WHOA LOLA – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
BEGS BELIEF – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
 
TAKEN BY THEFT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Race 4: 2021 CLUB 150 APPRECIATION RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1300 metres
 
MYSTERY ELEMENT – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from one nostril. Trainer Mr L. Wright was advised of the provisions of AR79(8).
 
PROVOCATIVE MAN – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Rider J Baker was suspended under AR132(5) for using his whip on nineteen occasions in total. Jockey Bakers license to ride in races was suspended for 8 days to commence midnight 30 June 2021 to Midnight 8 July 2021. In determining penalty stewards took into account this was Jockey Bakers second offence under this rule since 8 August 2020.
 
COOP'S STAR – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 5: PAVSCORP ROCKHAMPTON CUP RACEDAY - JULY BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1050 metres
 
ELEGANT ZOUS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
DONE IT AGAIN – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BOUND TO ME – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
ALL NATIVE – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
OUR STORMY GIRL – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
ROSAIRE – Hampered on jumping away. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
TINDER – was declared a late scratching at 10.49am due to no available rider.
 
MALVAGIO – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Race 6: WENDY MULRY TRAVEL ROCKHAMPTON CUP TOUR QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1400 metres
 
NATURAL EMPEROR – Slow into stride. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
OLLIE'S STAND – Rider C. McIver was reprimanded under AR132(5) for using his whip on 17 occasions in total. In determining penalty stewards took into account this was Jockey McIver’s first offence since 8 August 2020. MISS TOO FLY – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
HIDDEN GODDESS – Rider C. McIver was suspended under AR132(5) for using his whip on seventeen occasions in total. Jockey McIver’s license to ride in races was suspended for 8 days to commence midnight 3 July 2021 to Midnight 11 July 2021. In determining penalty stewards took into account this was Mr McIver’s second breach since 8 August 2020.

Race 8: TAB TATTERSALL'S GOLD CUP OPEN Handicap 1600 metres
 
ABSOLUT ARTIE – Rider reported that ABOLUT ARTIE failed to travel at any stage of the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr R Vale stated that he will have the gelding scoped and report back on the condition of ABSOLUTE ARTIE in the days subsequent.
 
BARACHIEL – Slow into stride.
 
SAYL (GB) – Raced wide throughout the event. Jockey M Potgieter reported that after being trapped wide throughout, his mount weakened noticeably when placed under pressure. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr R Vale stated that he will report back on the condition of SAYL (GB) in the days subsequent.
 
INCHING CLOSER – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 400m.
