SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Rockhampton 9 July 2021 – Race 6
Stewards concluded an adjourned inquiry into the circumstances which resulted in Hi Harry clipping heels and blundering approaching the 200m. After hearing submissions, Jockey M. McGillivray (Usurp) was found guilty of a charge or careless riding for allowing his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear. Jockey McGillivray’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 19 July 2021 and to conclude midnight 31 July 2021.
 
GENERAL
Following a race day inspection of the Trainer Nick Walsh’s stables by members of the QRIC IIT, Mr Walsh was fined $300 for employing an unlicensed stable employee and also $200 for failing to keep an updated treatment record book.
 
Race 1: NUTURF BM65 Handicap 2213 metres
 
ELIZANO – When questioned in relation to the gelding’s performance, Jockey J. Orman stated that his mount failed to respond to his riding on entering the home straight and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
BANTU BAY – When questioned in relation to the gelding’s performance, Jockey B Pengelly stated that his mount failed to respond to his riding entering the home straight and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. He added in his opinion BANTU BAY may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
TONTEIN – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Overraced in the early and middle stages.  Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAGIC WISHES – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting the gate enroute to the barriers and was passed fit to start. Stood flat footed as the start was affected and was slow to begin. Trainer Mr W. Hill was advised that MAGIC WISHES would be required to gain a further barrier certificate prior to accepting for a future race.
 
Race 2:2 DRACARYS STALLION Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
YARRALINDA – Slow into stride.

ISIS CARMELLA – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 3: PFK OPEN Handicap 1050 metres
 
CHEZBLACK – Slow to begin.
 
LINGALONGA LASS – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 4: COMPLETE ELECTRICAL - MAGIC MILLIONS CAPRICORNIA GUINEAS 3YO Handicap 1500 metres
 
MAESTOSO – Jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of NAMAZU which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey R. Wiggins, rider of NAMAZU, was reminded of his obligations to be clear when shifting ground in future.
 
SPIRIT'S CHARM – Hampered on jumping away. Rider S. Collett was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m, three more than permitted. When determining penalty stewards took into account this was Jockey Collett’s second offence since 8 August 2020.
 
Race 5: CLAUDE GREEN Class 1 Handicap 1050 metres
 
LUCIFER'S LOOT – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
FREE DAWN – Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.  Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages after MOCIAL CHIEF shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey J Bayliss, rider of MOCIAL CHIEF, was reprimanded under AR131(a).
 
EVEREADY – Hampered on jumping away. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MOCIAL CHIEF – Hampered on jumping away.
 
CHARLOTTE RULES – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ROSETTES – Hampered shortly after jumping away. Passing the 100m became awkwardly placed on the heels of LUCIFER’S LOOT which laid in under pressure. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
 
SCORIA STAR – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
ONLY EMMA – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
Race 6: PHIL PEEL JEWELLER Class 3 Handicap 1500 metres
 
ARZANI – Rider B Pengelly was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. In determining penalty stewards took into account this was Jockey Pengelly’s fifth breach of this rule since 8 August 2020.
 
SVINDAL – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
KARENO – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 7: PAVSCORP ROCKHAMPTON CUP Handicap 1600 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockeys R. Wiggins (Hail Manhattan) and A. Bulter (Bollente) to view the stewards patrol footage to ascertain if they had ground to lodge an objection. Both Jockey Wiggins and Butler declined to lodge an objection and as Stewards were satisfied, correct weight was declared.
 
HAIL MANHATTAN – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 200m. Carried wide over the concluding stages. Rider R. Wiggins was suspended for 8 days under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted. Jockey Wiggins license to ride in races was suspended from midnight 13 July 2021 to conclude midnight 21 July 2021. In determining penalty stewards took into account this was Jockey Wiggins thirteenth breach of this rule since 8 August 2020.
 
RIGHT OR WRONG – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after being fractious in the tie up stalls and was passed fit to start. Rider N Callow was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. In determining penalty stewards took into account this was Jockey Callows first breach of this rule since 8 August 2020.
 
BOLLENTE – Passing the 300m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of FLY FOR YULONG which shifted out when insufficiently clear to do so. Jockey N Thomas, rider of FLY FOR YULONG, plead guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear. Jockey Thomas had his licence to ride in races suspended for nine days to commence midnight 10 July 2021 and to expire midnight 19 July 2021.  
 
SIR BARNABUS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200m and had to shift in to improve.
 
RED STINA – Slow to begin.
 
SLOW HANDS – Passing the 1400m had to be restrained after improving onto heels.
 
THE TAX ACCOUNTANT – Slow to begin.
 
GUNNOBE – Slow to begin.
 
FACTORY WARRIOR – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
BERING SEA – Trainer C Attard was fined $200 under LR67 for the late declaration of M. Potgieter on race morning.
 
FLY FOR YULONG – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight. Passing the 300m shifted in contacting BOLLENTE, resulting in FLY FOR YULONG having its hindquarters turned.
 
CINNAMON MISSILE – Passing the 200m became awkwardly placed on the heels of BOLLENTE after being carried in by SIR BARNABUS. Jockey M. Hellyer, rider of SIR BARNABUS was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mount when they shift ground in future.
 
Race 8: TAKALVANS QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap 1100 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow connections of second placegetter ALOTTA ATTITUDE to view the photo finish. After being satisfied of the judges placings, correct weight was declared.
 
KIPCHOGE – Raced wide throughout the event. Hung in when placed under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
MISHANI REBEL – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after breaking through the front of the barrier partition, galloping a short distance before being restrained and was passed fit to start.
 
BITTERGREYMAGIC – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
PERSAGA – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
FLASH HOMBRE – Hampered on jumping away. Shortly after jumping away had to be restrained after improving onto heels.
