Fawke, B. Appo, A. Butler and Apprentice W. Peel were all indisposed, stewards permitted changes as per the stewards race day summary. Race 1: THE REAL GROUP RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 Handicap 1400 metres Highmaster – When questioned in relation to his riding out of the gelding over the concluding stages, Jockey R. Wiggins stated that his mount began to weaken under pressure and became aware over the final 100m that blood was present on HIGHMASTER and as such elected to not place his mount under pressure over the final strides. Marto – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Became awkwardly placed on the heels of NATIVE BEE for a number of strides passing the 300m. Attique - Jockey L. Tilley was fined $300 under the provisions of AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Following the running of this event, Jockey M. McGillivray was examined by the Queensland Ambulance Officers and was stood down from his remaining engagements. Jockey McGillivray was advised that he would require a medical clearance. Race 2: KELE PROPERTY GROUP Maiden Handicap 1400 metres Magnate – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 300m. Doctor Deep – Stewards permitted Jockey R. Wiggins to ride the gelding 2kgs over the handicapped weight as there was no other available rider. Scandina – Rider reported that her saddle slipped passing the 400m placing her at a disadvantage over the concluding stages. Mount Dumaresq – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Girl On Top – Slow to begin. Race 3: BILL REID RACING BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1600 metres Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey R. Wiggins, rider of second placegetter MATADOR, to view the stewards footage to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection. After doing so, Jockey Wiggins declined to lodge an objection and correct weight was given. Trust In Aloha – Reared as the start was effected and missed the start (5 lengths). Trainers representative A Coome was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare. Duble Gaze – Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying signs of the thumps. Bonville (NZ) – Trainer Mr R. Hay was advised that warning would be placed on the record of the gelding after being standing flat-footed Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1050 metres The start of this race was delayed three minutes owing to both PARKBURN and CRAIC both requiring resaddling. Dogga's Dance – Raced wide throughout the event. Parkburn – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. So Silent – Raced wide throughout the event. Craic – Slow to begin. Secret Sushi – was declared a late scratching at 2.10pm due to no available rider. Race 5: TAB OPEN Handicap 1300 metres Correct weight was delayed to allow connections of second placegetter, ONLY WANNA SING, to view the photo finish. After satisfied with the judges placings, correct weight was declared. Poetic Heart – Following Jockey M. McGillivray being stood down by Ambulance Officers, stewards acceded to the request for late scratching of the gelding at 2.38pm. Bogey Man – Held up for clear running passing the 100m and had to shift out to improve. Gypsy Biker – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Indernile - Jockey N. Day was fined $200 under the provisions of AR211(1) for returning to scale overweight. Cavellton – Jockey L. Tilley was fined $400 under the provisions of AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Slow to begin. Velaro – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Race 6: ST PETER'S CAULFIELD CUP SAT 16 OCTOBER Class 1 Handicap 1050 metres Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey B. Pengelly, rider of third placegetter ANTAGONISER, to view the patrol films to ascertain if he had grown to lodge an objection against the winner. After doing so Jockey Pengelly elected not to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared. The Graduate – Hampered on jumping away. Antagoniser – Jumped away awkwardly. Ale Magic – Hung out when placed under pressure in the straight despite the efforts of its rider. Sabor – Held up for clear running passing the 200m and had to shift out to improve. Passing the 100m had to shift out to avoid the heels of ANTAGONISER who was carried out. One More Field – Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 100m when having to shift in to avoid the heels of ALE MAGIC, which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider. Camarosa – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300m and had to shift in to improve.
