SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Mackay Turf Club 22 October 2021 – Race 8
Approaching the 100m, SEQUABLUR had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SABOR, which laid in under pressure. Jockey N. Day, rider of SABOR, was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.
 
 
Race 1: RQ SUPPORTS RACING INDUSTRY SAFETY Maiden Handicap 1500 metres
 
Sudden Suspect – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Anacheeva Lad – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home. Approaching the 800m had to be steadied after improving onto heels.
 
 
Race 2: G & L DUNNETT PLASTERBOARD CONTRACTORS PTY LTD BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1500 metres
 
Indernile – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Coach – Passing the 1200m raced in restricted room for a number of strides to the inside of Jackpot Jay, which shifted in under riding. Jockey N. Day rider of Jackpot Jay was reprimanded under AR131(a). Lost off hind plate leaving the 700m.
 
 
Race 3: WOOLLAM CONSTRUCTIONS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1600 metres
 
Marto – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.
 
Helluva Hoffa – Slow to begin.
 
Trust In Aloha – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.
 
Prompt Reply – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Race 4: GOODY'S EARTHMOVING PTY LTD Class 6 Handicap 1300 metres
 
Spirit Esprit – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages. Rider reported that his mount failed to travel in the early and middle stages and added that the gelding may appreciate stepping up in distance this preparation.
 
Nuremburg Castle – Rider W. Peel was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. In determining penalty stewards noted that this was Apprentice Peels sixth breach of the rule in the past twelve months.
 
Sequablur – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
Race 5: GREAT NORTHERN Class 3 Handicap 1300 metres
 
Villa Villekulla – Held up approaching the 400m before shifting ground outwards to obtain clear running.
 
Bold Hunter – Over raced early stages.
 
Scorpios Sunset – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight by Deck Of Aces which shifted out abruptly to improve.
 
Antagoniser – B Pengelly was fined $300 for returning to scale in excess of .5kg over the weight he weighed out at pursuant to AR211(1)
 
Gaius Julius – Passing the 400m had to steady off heels when Villa Villekulla shifted out for clear racing room.
 
Deck Of Aces – Passing the 600m shifted out abruptly to improve into clear running and in doing so contacted Scorpios Sunset.
 
Race 6: CHRISTMAS AT CALLAGHAN PARK Class 1 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed until trainer D Whyte and Jockey N Thomas of Whoshotthemagician had viewed the Stewards films of the final 300m. After viewing the replays correct weight was declared on the judges’ placings.
 
Schweid As – Raced wide without cover throughout and made the bend awkwardly. Had to be steadied near the 250m when Kipchoge laid inwards and Stargirl improved on its inside.
 
Kipchoge – Raced wide with cover throughout. Laid inwards in the home straight.
 
Hinvictus – Raced wide without cover. Laid inwards in the home straight.
 
Bluindi – Held up from the 600m until near the 450m.
 
Stargirl – Shifted outwards near the 250m to obtain clear racing room.
 
Whoshotthemagician – Held up for clear room passing the 300m. Raced greenly over the final stages. 
 
Bold Zip – Jumped awkwardly and was slow away as a result.
 
Race 7: CALLAGHAN PARK FUNCTIONS AND EVENTS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1050 metres
 
Sirfina – Raced wide briefly over the early stages. Trainer T Cook advised the Stewards the gelding was scratchy in its action post-race. A veterinary examination failed to disclose any abnormalities.
 
Santorini Summer – Trainer J McConachy was fined $100 for presenting the gelding with the incorrect gear pursuant to AR106(2)
 
Cold Power – Slow to begin and was hampered at the start. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards home straight
 
My Boy Sam – Laid outwards in the home straight. Apprentice jockey W Peel was fined $500 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on seven occasions two more than permitted prior to the 100m. 
 
Wicked Wench (NZ) – Had to be steadied near the 200m when improving onto heels. Rider N Day advised the Stewards he was concerned with the action of the mare with a post-race veterinary examination failing to detect any abnormalities
