Race 7: KIDS CHRISTMAS AT CALLAGHAN PARK 17 DECEMBER OPEN Handicap 1100 metres

The start of this race was delayed approximately two minutes owing to BOSS BABY proving difficult to load.

Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider a protest lodged by L Hatch trainer of third placegetter RHYME NOR RHYTHM, against MASTER JAMIE being declared second alleging interference over the final 200m. After considering all the evidence Stewards found that approaching the 200m RHYME NOR RHYTHM who was held up for clear running attempted to improve into a narrow run and in doing so made contact with the hindquarters of MASTER JAMIE turning that gelding in. Shortly thereafter RHYME NOR RHYTHM laid out at the same point MASTER JAMIE commenced to shift in under pressure causing RHYME NOR RHYTHM to have to steady. Bearing in mind the initial interference being caused by the shift or RHYME NOR RHYTHM and the secondary interference being as a result of both runners shifting ground Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had such incident not occurred RHYME NOR RHYTHM would have finished in advance of MASTER JAMIE and therefore the protest was dismissed.
