KINGS COUNTY – Began awkwardly and wasslow to begin. Over raced early. MUSIC SCENE – Raced keenly early. Race 2: ACE WEDDING HIRE & PARTY HIRE Class 6 Plate 1300 metres COURTESY BUS – Stewards questioned apprentice T Fenlon regarding tactics adopted. Apprentice Fenlon stated that her instructions were to lead on the gelding which is consistent with its recent pattern however shortly after the start it began to over race and refused to settle despite her effort. Stewards noted the comments. Race 3: HAPPY 65TH BIRTHDAY MICK THOMPSON Class 3 Handicap 1500 metres POETIC FINAL SAY – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. KOTABHARU – Bumped on jumping. I AM CLEVER – When asked to comment regarding the geldings perform jockey J Stanley stated that after travelling well, he felt that nearing the 300m it was flat and not responding to his riding and was disappointed with its performance. Trainer T Smith advised that following today’s performance it would now be sent for a spell and also noted that the gelding has performed better on firmer surfaces. FLEETINGLY – Bumped on jumping. Jockey D McGillivray was charged pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip seven times prior to the 100m, two more than permitted and was fined $400. TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) – Stewards question Jockey A Sewell regarding tactics adopted. Jockey Sewell stated that after beginning awkwardly and slow to begin, he then elected to ride forward and with no speed shown by runners to his inside, the gelding was allowed to stride forward and assume the lead near the 1300m, and that the tempo set was not excessive due to the lack of early speed by the other runners. Stewards noted his comments. Jockey A Sewell was charged pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip seven times prior to the 100m, two more than permitted and fined $300. AUSSIE TYCOON – Apprentice M Philpot was replaced by apprentice T Fenlon due to her non-arrival within the prescribed time and was fined $200 pursuant to AR128(1). Race 4: RJC TRAINER 20/21 RICKY VALE Maiden Plate 1400 metres MY MATE VINNY – Laid inwards in the home straight. SIR EX BE – Hung out in the home straight. Bumped with YUBETIDO near the 150m. YUBETIDO – Held up in the early part of the home straight. Hung in and bumped with SIR EX BE near the 150m. SCORPIO RISING (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination was requested when its rider reported that the gelding was making abnormal respiratory noises. No apparent abnormalities were detected. INFORMER – Began awkwardly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 600m and 300m. RADIANT ROMANCE – Began awkwardly shifted inwards hampering another runner. REGAL FIELD – Slow to begin then hampered. ALITA – Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer D Tunnah was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly regarding its starting manners. Race 5: RJC JOCKEY 20/21 RYAN WIGGINS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1300 metres BOLD ENFORCER – Began awkwardly. Checked near the 900m and lost ground. CHOSEN DISTANCE – Steadied near the 600m when impeded by a riderless runner. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. KILKENNY DAZZLER – Began awkwardly. Checked and lost ground near the 900m to avoid a fallen rider. TOY BLAZE – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. SUPER ROOSTER – Slow to begin. Checked near the 900m and lost ground. BAY'S SPIRIT – Over raced early. Checked near the 900m and lost ground. TAHLIA GOLD –Required farrier attention before leaving the enclosure. Apprentice T Fenlon was charged pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip seven times prior to the 100m, two more than permitted and was fined $300. SUN LILY – Near the 900m when over racing on heels, the offside stirrup strap broke causing Jockey Adam Sewell to be dislodged and several trailing runners to be checked. Jockey Sewell was assessed by QAS and whilst no immediate injuries were noted he was stood down from his remaining engagements. Jockey Sewell was advised that he would require a medical clearance and successfully complete a cognitive test prior to resuming. Race 6: RJC APPRENTICE JOCKEY 20/21 ELYCE BEAK QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1050 metres Prior to this event the track was downgraded to a Soft 6. SHERWOOD PRINCE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 300m obliged to alter course to obtain clear running. BEAN DEADLY – Near the 700m shifted out abruptly to avoid heels. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. LE RUBIS – Slow to begin. ALBERT'S IN CHARGE – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Tired over the concluding stages. Post-race veterinary examination failed to detect any abnormalities. DAUNTING PRINCESS – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Shifted wider on the track near the 700m when BEAN DEADLY shifted outwards. STILL FEELING IT – Bumped on jumping. Race 7: HORSE OF YEAR 20/21 MYSTERY ELEMENT BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1050 metres SWEET VENOM – Hampered on jumping WHO SHOT MAGGIE – Began awkwardly then raced wide. SCORIA STAR – Fractious in the barriers. Raced wide. Held up in the early part of the straight then laid out over the concluding stages. ARARRAC – Steadied near the 850m. CHESTO'S DREAM – Raced wide. SHARINDI – Began awkwardly shifted in making heavy contact with SHEMADEMEDOIT. Raced wide with cover. WHOA LOLA – Hampered on jumping. LINGJUN TOPGUN – Began very awkwardly unbalancing its rider. Trainer William Weeks was charged and pleaded guilty pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting his runner in the incorrect gear and was fined $300. SHEMADEMEDOIT – Bumped heavily on jumping. ALEYSA'S QUEEN – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Race 8: BLACK NUGGET HOTEL Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres DEEP BREATH – Raced wide throughout TEELING – Heavily bumped by the tiring CINDERELLA MAN passing the 350m. TRIPTONIC – Hampered on jumping. Laid inwards and shifted ground in the home straight to obtain clear running SEBERTON – Reluctant to load with a warning being placed on its record. Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages and became awkwardly placed on heels through the early stages. Had to shift ground passing the 350m when avoiding another runner which had been hampered. Stewards questioned rider C Spry regarding the manner he rode the gelding over the concluding stages. Mr Spry advised that after having to be restrained near the 350m he tried SEBERTON again, but it failed to respond to his urgings and felt it was floundering in the track conditions. He further advised he was aware it had previously bled and did not want to place it under any further undue pressure when it was failing to respond to his urgings.The Stewards noted Mr Spry’s explanation. BOLD AND LUCY – Had to shift ground in the home straight to obtain clear racing room. CINDERELLA MAN – Jumped away awkwardly. Shifted in abruptly near the 350m under pressure making heavy contact with TEELING. OUR ARIANA – Shifted inwards at the start bumping another runner. Over raced early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race. NO HARM DONE – Raced wide throughout.
