SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
MACKAY 12 APRIL 2022
 
Jockey S Fawke was fined $400 pursuant to AR228(b) in that he conducted himself improperly by using obscene language whist engaging in a conversation with stewards. When considering penalty Stewards took into account Mr Fawke’s guilty plea, his forthrightness and the degree of the language used.
 
GENERAL
 
The following weight alterations were authorised by Stewards.

Race 1: ROCKHAMPTON BUSINESS MACHINES Maiden Plate 1500 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed until rider N Thomas had viewed the photo finish. After viewing the photo correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.
 
EXALTED – Difficult to load. Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the inside barrier petition.
 
HANGIN' HIGH – Jockey R Wiggins was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m.
 
MACKENZIE COUNTRY – Shifted inwards shortly after the start and made contact with MUMBO BOWLER. Raced ungenerously over the early stages.
 
MUMBO BOWLER – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Near the 500m momentarily raced in restricted room when HANGIN’ HIGH shifted inwards. R Wiggins (the rider of HANGIN’ HIGH) was warned to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Near the 200m when attempting a narrow run was checked and lost ground when HANGIN’ HIGH shifted outwards and MILKY ROCKET shifted inwards.  
 
 
Race 2: THE RED LION HOTEL QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
ALEACO – Over raced through the early stages. Momentarily raced in restricted room near the 900m.
 
SHE'S WINNING – Shifted outwards at the start and was slow to begin as a result.
 
DEVIL KICK – Forced wider on jumping by WINNING WAYS which shifted outwards. Slow to begin. Raced wide over the early stages. Raced greenly over the concluding stages and laid inwards.
 
MARSHY – Jumped away awkwardly
 
SOPHIA'S READY – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 3: HAMISH SUMMERS-LAWRIE MEMORIAL Class 3 Plate 1600 metres
 
The track was downgraded to a Soft 5 prior to this race.
 
Prior to declaration of correct weight rider M Murphy viewed the photo finish and was satisfied with the Judges placing with correct weight declared.
 
LETS TORQUE A DEEL – Over raced through the early stages due to a lack of early speed. Laid outwards near the 600m.
 
POETIC FINAL SAY – Over raced early stages due to the lack of early speed.
 
ANGOLA MISS – Over raced early stages when there was a lack of early speed. Laid inwards approaching the home straight.
 
KOTABHARU – Over raced through the early stages due to the lack of early speed in the race.
 
 
Race 4: THOMO'S BETTA HOME LIVING FURNITURE & ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES OPEN Handicap 1600 metres
 
BERNIE'S TIGER – Over raced through the early and middle stages.
 
MONSIEUR MACRON (NZ) – Was resaddled prior to the start. Jumped awkwardly and shifted inwards contacting TEZOFF on its inside. Made the bend approaching the 600m awkwardly and shifted ground outwards.
 
SHIRANDA – Bumped by TEZOFF at the start. Over raced early stages.
 
TEZOFF – Contacted by MONSIEUR MACRON which shifted inwards at the start. Laid inwards in the home straight.
 
REST OF THE WORLD – Raced keenly through the early and middle stages. Shifted off heels approaching the 400m to obtain clear racing room. Laid inwards over the final 200m. T Fenlon was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for using her whip consecutively prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 5: GREAT NORTHERN OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
BARACHIEL – Slow to begin. B Pengelly was reminded of his obligations to ensure he fully rides his mount out to the finish line.
 
STUBAI – Bumped with POETIC HEART at the start. Raced keenly through the early stages. Raced wide middle stages.
 
CABALO ESCURO – Over raced early stages.
 
MOCIAL CHIEF – Over raced early stages. Laid inwards in over the concluding stages.
 
POETIC HEART – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped with STUBAI.
 
PLENTY – Over raced early stages.
 
 
Race 6: TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
FIRE KING – Jockey R Wiggins was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on nine occasions prior to the 100m four more than permitted.
 
JUNGLE BEAT – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced ungenerously while being restrained over the early stages and shifted outwards as a result. Continued to lay outwards over the middle stages. Near the 700m momentarily had to be steadied off the heels of YANGSEA which laid inwards despite the efforts of its rider.
 
YANGSEA – Over raced early stages. Laid inwards near the 700m. Laid inwards in the early part of the home straight.   
 
CHESTER'S ANGEL – Laid inwards in the home straight.
 
SUNDARA – Rider J Stanley advised his mount had hung inwards throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have recovered well with no abnormalities found. Trainer A Coome advised the filly had previous hung during its races.
 
BOOM TIME BABY – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 7: AUTISM AWARENESS Class 2 Handicap 1300 metres
 
Stewards delayed correct weight until they were satisfied MATADOR had reared on its own accord and was subsequently declared a runner.
 
MATADOR – Reared as the start was effected losing ground. Trainer R Vale was advised MATADOR was stood down for a satisfactory barrier trial. Improved onto heels near the 600m.
 
BAUHINIA BEANS – Shifted wider on the track near the 300m when BOLD AND LUCY shifted ground.
 
MARTO – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied momentarily near the 400m when BOLD AND LUCY shifted outwards. M Philpot (the rider of BOLD AND LUCY) was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for the manner she shifted ground.
 
TRAQ – Tightened for room shortly after the start losing ground.
 
WINE TALKS – Slow to begin
 
BOLD AND LUCY – Held up for clear racing room until approaching the 400m before shifting out to obtain clear running.
 
TRICKY BEANS – Apprentice M Castle was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m three more than permitted.
 
CHESTO'S DREAM – Began awkwardly tightening TRAQ shortly after the start. Over raced early and middle stages. Raced wide middle stages.
 
 
Race 8: THE ARCHER - SATURDAY 7 MAY Class 1 Handicap 1050 metres
 
DIRTY DIARY – Due to not racing in the previous 12 months was examined by the veterinarian pre-race and cleared to start.
 
ZARNADO – Authorisation was granted by the Stewards for ZARNADO to race without the cross over nose band due an administration error.
 
STARHATTAN – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
HINVICTUS – Laid inwards over the concluding stages.
 
MERIDA'S BOW – Raced wide early stages. Laid inwards in the home straight.
 
MASSABIELLE – Jumped awkwardly and bumped with OUR ARIANA. Raced wide for the majority.
 
OUR ARIANA – Jumped awkwardly and raced wide over the early stages before settling at the back of the field.  
 
ROSETTES – Laid inwards throughout the run home. Apprentice M Castle was fined $200 for using her whip on eight occasions three more than permitted under AR132(7)(a)(ii)
 
BETTER BE GREAT – L Miller was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions one more than permitted prior to the 100m.
