After hearing submissions on penalty Ms Seymour’s race day licence was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight the 23rd of July to midnight the 3rd of August 2022. GENERAL Stewards permitted the following weight alteration Race 4: J Stanley - IN ORDER - +1kg to 55kg Race one was rescheduled to 12.30pm due to the late arrival of the ambulance on course. Some publications and websites incorrectly showed the track rating as a Good 4 instead of a Soft 5. As the track conditions had not been altered by any Raceday Officials on the day the correct track conditions were corrected accordingly. Race 1: BOOK A TABLE FOR CAULFIELD CUP Maiden Handicap 1050 metres KICK ON COMMAND – Began awkwardly making contact with QUE CEE SPADE. FI DE COUER – The start of this race was delayed further when the filly proved difficult to load. Slow to begin. Raced keenly over the early stages and improved onto heels and had to be steadied near the 800m. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised a warning was placed on the filly due to it being difficult to load. SHE'S OUT THERE – Laid outwards in the early stages of the home straight. Laid inwards over the final stages. CASH GAME – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid inwards in the home straight. Apprentice T Fenlon was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. MONEY TRAVELS – Slow to begin. QUE CEE SPADE – Bumped on jumping by KICK ON COMMAND. Race 2: APPRECIATION TO ALL RJC STAFF QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres EXECUTIVE STRESS – Raced wide over the early stages. Lay inwards over the final stages. HEROIC KNIGHT – Jumped away awkwardly shifting outwards. ROGUE ENCOUNTER – Jumped away awkwardly bumping with CITY MISSION. Inclined to hang out throughout. CITY MISSION – Bumped at the start by ROGUE ENCOUNTER. WINDSKI – Shifted in across heels to obtain clear running near the 200m. TOUGHY ROCKET – Fractious prior to the start getting its head down on a number of occasions. Jumped away awkwardly. Race 3: CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL LOCAL TRAINERS QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres MONEY MUNCHER – Raced keenly over the early stages. Raced greenly in the home straight and laid outwards under pressure over the final stages. SAVVY SONG – Raced greenly in the home straight and laid outwards under pressure over the final stages. POWER LOAD – Difficult to load. Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Raced greenly over the early stages. Was forced to steady from heels near the 900m when MISHANI VIRUTE shifted in marginally. Jockey T. Brooker (the rider of MISHANI VIRTUE) was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) SWEET CINZIA – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN Class 6 Handicap 1300 metres CAVELLTON – As Jockey B. Pengelly was overweight he was subsequently replaced by Jockey A. Layt. Jockey Pengelly was fined $100 pursuant to AR190(3) for being unable to make the correct weight. Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Over the final stages was awkward in its action and eased by its rider. A post-race veterinary examination failed to disclose any abnormalities. Trainer A Coome advised it was his intention to spell the gelding prior to resuming racing. IN ORDER – Over raced through the early stages. AERIAL COMBAT – Lost its off fore plate during the running. Race 5: CONGRATULATIONS JIM & SARHA ON THEIR ENGAGEMENT Class 3 Plate 1050 metres SANTORINI SUMMER – Raced wide over the early stages. FIGHT IN THE DOG – Made contact with WHOA LOLA at the jump. Laid inwards over the final stages. Jockey T Chambers was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. WHOA LOLA – Contacted by KNIGHT’S SWORD and FIGHT IN THE DOG on jumping. KNIGHT'S SWORD – Jumped away awkwardly then contacted the hind quarter of WHOA LOLA shortly after the start. Race 6: A DAYS GRAZE CATERING QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres MR DEMOLITION – Slow to begin and was hampered by runners either side at the jump. HURRICANE HALL – Shifted inwards under pressure over the final stages. READY BY MIDNIGHT – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly over the early stages. TURF EDITION – Began awkwardly and shifted ground outwards at the start. Tailed off from the 500m and took no further competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to disclose any abnormalities. BAY'S SPIRIT – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly in the early stages before shifting wider at the 900m. Lay inwards rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay inwards from the 700m. Race 7: TAB BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1600 metres FORTIFIED (NZ) – Shifted off heels near the 400m to obtain clear racing room. Laid outwards making contact with BACK WHEN leaving the 300m. Laid inwards over the concluding stages. SRINI – Pushed wider on the track near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed SRINI to be lame in the off-hind leg. The trainers representative was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding’s next start. BACK WHEN – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. TRICKY BEANS – Near the 900m shifted outwards off the heels of ROSHAN forcing SRINI wider on the track. Raced greenly in the home straight. Apprentice C Collis was suspended for a period of 14 days from midnight 29/07/2022 to midnight 12/08/2022 pursuant to AR131(b) in that he failed to ride TRICKY BEANS out fully to the finish line costing TRICKY BEANS the opportunity of second place. Following the running of this race Stewards inquired into an incident in the weighing area involving Jockey A Butler and Apprentice C Collis. After taking into consideration the evidence tendered, Jockey Butler pleaded guilty to a charge under AR228(b) in that following the running of race seven, whilst in the scales area, he directed obscene and offensive language towards apprentice C. Collis. Jockey Butler was fined $800 , $400 of which to be wholly suspended for a two-year period. Race 8: BECOME A RJC MEMBER TODAY! BENCHMARK 55 Handicap1200 metres BLUE JACKET – Dipped and put in an awkward stride near the 550m. CENTAUR – Laid outwards in the home straight. CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN – Held up on the home turn and was inclined to lay inwards in the home straight. NEW YORK WORLD – Hampered on jumping. Near the 700m had to be steadied off the heels of GYPSY ROZAY. DOLLAR DOLLAR (NZ) – Raced wide without cover throughout. GYPSY ROZAY – Began awkwardly and made contact with NEW YORK WORLD. Over raced through the early stages and near the 900m was placed in restricted room making heavy contact with the rail. Continued to race greenly for remainder of the race. SHALUNA – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted when leading today Jockey J Stanley advised it was not his intention to lead in today’s race, however after making a good beginning he elected to improve forward and take a leading position rather than racing wide throughout or restraining his mount to obtain a position with cover. Stewards noted Jockey Stanleys explanation. LYNRIC LASS – Was declared a late scratching at 4.45pm after refusing to load. All monies invested on LYNRIC LASS were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applied. 5 cents in the dollar for the win - #12 8 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #12 4 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #2 6 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #5 The connections were advised LYNRIC LASS was required to complete a satisfactory barrier trial prior to resuming racing.
