Burgess Starter – T. Williams Race 1: GREAT NORTHERN QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1100 metres The track was upgraded to a soft (7) following the running of the event. KARAKAROO – Shifted out on jumping. DRAGON’S SNIP – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. MISHANI EAGLE – Steadied from the heels of KARAKAROO shortly after the start. Laid in when paced under pressure in the early part of the home straight. MISHANI TWILIGHT – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey Jason Taylor was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m. MISHANI PROMISE – Began awkwardly. Race 2: CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE 2ND APRIL Class 3 Plate 1100 metres BIGGER THAN THORN – Began awkwardly. Inclined to hang out for the majority. Trainer T. Chambers was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. SIBERIAN ROUTE – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. No Further Racing Incidents. Race 3: DLV FINANCE Maiden Plate 1100 metres LENNY ROCKET– Race wide throughout. Cast a plate near the 500m.ROYAL TONIC (NZ) – Over raced middle stages. TONKA WAKAN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a catastrophic injury to the off-fore fetlock and as a result the gelding was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds. SHUT IT DOWN – Began awkwardly and struck the inside barrier partition.RUN PEGGY RUN – Fractious prior to the start and then began awkwardly. Race 4: LJ HOOKER ROCKHAMPTON QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap1050 metres EXECUTIVE STRESS – Inclined to hang in from the 650m. GLEN ISLA MILER – Raced keenly in the early stages. SWEET JINA – Bumped on jumping. MISHANI JEWEL – Began awkwardly. Race 5: AUSSIE DAY COUNTRY ON KERSHAW BENCHMARK 70Handicap 1500 metres A FIGHTING FURY – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance apprentice N. Seymour advised that in her opinion the gelding failed to handle to track conditions of today’s event. She further advised that in her opinion the higher weight carried in today’s event was also a contributing factor to today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered a poor post-race recovery. KINGS COUNTY – Began awkwardly. RAPAPORT (NZ) – Upon returning to scale Jockey A. Butler advised that in his opinion his mount was not suited to todays track conditions and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer J. Wehlow advised that the gelding would be now sent for a spell. DELANEY’S GIRL – Slow to begin. MAGNETIC DRIVE – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. ALEACO – Began awkwardly. Race 6: RENEW YOUR 2023 RJC MEMBERSHIP Class 4 Handicap 1300 metres CINNAMON MISSILE – Fractious in barrier. POLICE (NZ) – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Bumped with EDIFICATION near the 350m. EDIFICATION – Held up for the majority of the home straight. Bumped by POLICE (NZ) nearing the 350m. ROADHOUSE – Jockey J. Taylor was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 7 times prior to the 100m. SEERESS – Jockey H. Richardson was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m. GOLDEN ATHENA – Slow to begin. SIDEARM – Trainer J. Wigginton was fined $100 under AR194 for failing to present the gelding to the mounting yard by the prescribed time. Race 7: TAB OPEN Handicap 1100 metres AMMOUNDI BAY – Bumped on jumping. Laid in whilst placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight. PLENTY – Fractious in barrier. Slow to begin. SVINDAL – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the start and was passed fit to start. KRAVITZ – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. I PROMISE YOU – Began awkwardly bumping AMMOUNDI BAY. SUCH A WHIT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 8: SAVE THE DATE ST PARTICK'S DAY 18TH MARCH RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1500 metres KELLERS SHELTER – Raced wide without cover in the early stages. Commenced to weaken from the 400m taking no further competitive part in the event. When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance, Jockey A. Butler advised that after attempting to obtain a forward position, he was caught wide and as a result elected to take the position outside the leader near the 800m. He further added that the gelding then failed to respond when placed under pressure from the 400m and in his opinion proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed …… COMMANDERS WATCH – Jockey A. Spinks was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 8 times prior to the 100m. PALACE HOUSE – Fractious. Began awkwardly. Laid in when rounding the home turn. STAR OF LEON – Began awkwardly. MENSCHEIT – Raced wide throughout. Jockey N. Summers’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m to commence midnight 28/1/2023 and to conclude midnight 4/2/2023 LINGJUN TOPGUN – Slow to begin. HEROIC ANGEL – Began awkwardly. Race 9: NEW LOOK CALLAGHAN PARK COMING SOON RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1200 metres FUTURE IDEA (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Laid out when paced under pressure in the home straight. AWESOME SPIRIT – Tightened for room on jumping. Trainer D. Rideout was fined $100 under the provisions of AR106(1) for presenting the gelding in the incorrect gear. ROCKETING TO WIN – Commenced to weaken from the 500m taking no further completive part in the event. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Jockey C. Whiteley advised that in his opinion the gelding failed to handle the softer track conditions of todays event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
