GENERAL
 
Prior to the running of race 1 stewards along with a delegation of riders conducted an inspection of a section of the track between the 500m and 550m. After discussions, the riding group was happy to proceed with the meeting. A further assessment was conducted after the running of race 1 with no issues detected.  
 
Due to transport difficulties Apprentice A. Donald was absent from today’s meeting. Replacements as per steward’s summary.
 
Race 1: $500K CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE CARNIVAL QTIS
Two-Year-Old Handicap 1100 metres
 
IN EVIDENCE – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
DRAGON'S SNIP – Jockey J. Murphy was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m.
 
TRACK TALE – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
KARAKAROO – Began awkwardly.
 
LEIBERT LASS – Began awkwardly. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: ST PADDY'S DAY TICKETS ON SALE QTIS Three-Year-Old
Handicap 1100 metres
 
JUST SUPER – Upon returning to the scale, Jockey A. Butler advised that his mount raced greenly throughout.
 
IT'S GERRY – Began awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CITY MISSION – Began Awkwardly. Raced ungenerously though the early and middle stages.
 
Race 3: TAB Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
CHAIN OF FIRE – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Blundered at a point near the 900m placing its rider unbalanced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
ROYAL TONIC (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay in from the 700m. Shifted out near the 500m forcing JACK’S ECHO wider.
 
ARCTIC SUMMER – Began awkwardly.
 
JACK'S ECHO – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Forced wider near the 500m when ROYAL TONIC (NZ) shifted out.  
 
Following the event stewards and a delegation of riders inspected a section of the track near the 900m. Following discussion, the riders were satisfied to proceed with the meeting.
 
Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN OPEN Handicap 1400 metres
 
MASTER JAMIE – Began awkwardly.
 
MONTENEGRO MAN – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
GUNTANTES – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BERING SEA – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
KOTABHARU – Jockey J. Taylor dropped his whip near the 150m.
 
Race 5: CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE 2 APRIL Class 3 Plate
1300 metres
 
POLICE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide in the early staged before obtaining the leading position near the 900m.
 
EDIFICATION – Slow into stride.
 
LA FEMME DE FORTE – Began awkwardly.
 
TOY BLAZE – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 6: THE NEW LOOK CALLAGHAN PARK Class 1 Handicap
1100 metres
 
CHALKLEY – Fractious in barrier. Began awkwardly.
 
SO NOBLE – As Jockey A. Butler was overweight, he was subsequently replaced by jockey R. Wiggins. Jockey A. Butler was fined $200 under AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
 
MR TANGLES – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey N. Summers was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m.
 
SHE'S OUT THERE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 7: THE PAT WELSH 47@7 RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1600 metres
 
SPIRIT OF GIVING – Began awkwardly.
 
TONTEIN – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 700m until the early part of the home straight. Apprentice M. Potgieter was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m
 
STAR OF LEON – Tightened for room on jumping. Raced wide without cover for the majority. Apprentice T. Fenlon was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m
 
MENSCHKEIT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up momentarily when entering the home straight. Laid in when placed under pressure from the 500m.
 
HEROIC ANGEL – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
PRIZED BENEFIT – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
