GENERAL
Overweights permitted as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
A medical clearance was provided by jockey Tasha Chambers.
 
Race 1: TAB RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1500 metres
 
LYRICAL LOVER – Bumped with HYPERION STAR soon after the start.
 
EMPIRE CLUB – Apprentice Tahlia Fenlon was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to her mount on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
THUNDER KNOB – Jockey Adam Sewell was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
COMMANDER'S WATCH – Awkward into stride.
 
INDIANA FALLS (NZ) – Jockey Tiffani Brooker dropped her whip near the 200m.
 
PHOENIX FLYER – Held up for clear running until leaving the 300m.
 
HYPERION STAR (NZ) – Bumped with RUFFIN’ IT soon after the start. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 2: ST PATRICK RACE COMMITTEE OPEN Handicap 1100 metres
 
PLENTY – Raced ungenerously for a short distance leaving the 900m when being restrained. Jockey Justin Stanley reported that his mount travelled well until leaving the 600m, however failed to improve when placed under pressure. The rider further advised that he felt something may have been amiss with the gelding so did not ride out fully over the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
VILLA VILLEKULLA – Jumped inwards sharply at the start.
 
CABALO ESCURO – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BARACHIEL – Jumped outwards abruptly at the start.
 
SPRING CREEK – Jumped in the air at the start losing ground in consequence.
 
JAY JAY – Tightened and checked at the start.
 
POET'S GIRL – Tiffani Brooker was the approved rider replacement for Tasha Chambers after Ms Chambers was found to be overweight.
 
 
Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
SHAMEDY – Brushed with PARA PARK CHANCE near the 450m when shifting out to improve.
 
ACRES AWAY – Jockey Justin Stanley advised that he elected to race forward after the gelding began well and the early tempo was moderate.
 
PARA PARK CHANCE – Slow to begin. Brushed with SHAMEDY near the 450m. Jockey Adrian Layt could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
BRIGHT BEAN – Jumped out at the start hampering CHUCKA DUMMY.
 
CHUCKA DUMMY – Hampered soon after the start. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 4: HIGGINS COATINGS PTY LTD BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1600 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed slightly due to Singapore race 3 running behind schedule.
 
WAY BEYOND – Jockey Tiffani Brooker advised that her mount failed to run on after travelling well until the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
LOUIS JANUARY – Hung out under pressure over the final 400m. Jockey Ashley Butler advised his mount proved to be disappointing after hanging out badly over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
GRANT'S PATCH – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 5: HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER KIND QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres Q
 
COUNTRY BOYZ – Raced briefly in restricted room near the 400m when GRAND ASCENT shifted outwards.
 
READY TO GROOVE – Hung in under pressure over the final 200m.
 
TOP SPY – Slow into stride.
 
GRAND ASCENT – Shifted outwards near the 200m.
 
Race 6: BOOK YOUR TABLE CAP SALES Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
YANDOOBIE – Attempted to buck for a considerable distance approaching the 800m resulting in SENSATIONABULL and SOFTEN IT UP being checked. Hung out noticeably in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near hind leg, which was treated and no stand down period was issued. Trainer S Rundle was advised that the gelding must trial satisfactorily before resuming racing.
 
CAERUS (NZ) – Hung in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned, Justin Stanley advised that after being caught wide from the barrier he elected to progress forward and endured more work than anticipated. The rider also added he was of the view that the gelding may be better suited when ridden more conservatively in future. A post-race veterinary examination
 
SECRET SONNETS – Tightened and checked soon after the start.
 
ROCK DREAMER (NZ) – Jumped inwards sharply at the start.

SENSATIONABULL – Checked near the 800m.
 
SOFTEN IT UP – Checked near the 800m.
 
TORQUE ESPAGNA – Bumped with SECRET SONNETS soon after the start.
 
Race 7: FAREWELL BRENDAN PARNELL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1100 metres

RUTTO – Began awkwardly. Eased off heels near the 800m. Tightened for room near the 300m.
 
SAW THAT COMING – Began awkwardly. Jockey Adrian Layt was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
GABRIELLE – Due to no other available rider, Tasha Chambers was permitted to ride 1.5KG overweight. Ms Chambers was fined $100 under AR190(3) for accepting a mount when subsequently found to be overweight. In adopting this approach, Stewards were mindful of a penalty issued for an earlier race under identical circumstances and the overall effect of both penalties.
