Race 1: TAB QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres ANSWERING – Raced greenly under pressure. BIKER – Slow to begin. Hung in under pressure in the home straight. HARCH ROAD – Bumped with ALL POWERED UP at the start. Raced greenly under pressure. ALL POWERED UP – Bumped with HARCH ROAD at the start. Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly under pressure. MISHANI AVIATOR – Proved difficult to load. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Hung inwards rounding the turn near the 900m and crowded MISHANI STAR for some distance. Checked off heels when over racing for some distance approaching and leaving the 800m. Connections were advised that a warning has now been placed against the racing manners of the gelding. MISHANI STAR – Slow to begin. Crowded for racing room for some distance around the turn near the 900m. Rider J Taylor advised that his saddle shifted during the run and as a result he was placed at some difficulty to ride his mount out fully. Race 2: GREAT NORTHERN Maiden Handicap 1200 metres RAPID INSTINCT – Bumped with ATHENA’S SECRET at the start. COURAGEOUS ONE – Began awkwardly. VALENTINA EXPRESS – Rider R Wiggins was at a loss to explain the seemingly disappointing performance apart from the mare racing second up from a spell and failed to finish the race off as expected. Trainer R Vale advised that he was of the opinion the horse raced flat and may have got its tongue back during the run, so it was the intention to adding a tongue tie for the mare’s next start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. APRIL LOVE – Over raced in the early and middle stages. ATHENA'S SECRET – Slow to begin. Bumped with RAPID INSTINCT at the start. TAMINGO FOLLIES – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. Race 3: KNAUF GYPSUM PTY LTD BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1400 metres CENTAUR – Over raced in the early stages. SHADOW GODDESS – Very slow to begin. GOLDSCHLAGER – Slow to begin. Briefly tightened around the turn near the 900m. Race 4: BUTLER PARTNERS OPEN Handicap 1100 metres DYNAMIC VERSE – Slow to begin. TRU BLU TANGO – Fractious in the barriers. Raced keenly in the early stages. VAST KAMA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey A Thompson was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. Race 5: DLV FINANCE RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 Handicap 1050 metres I AM A HIT – Crowded on jumping. BAD EDUCATION – Bumped at the start by SWEET FANTASY. Raced wide in the early stages. Rider A Thompson lost use of his irons close to the finish after his left foot became entangled in the breast plate strap and as a result was unable to ride out fully to the finish. NOT ANOTHER – Fractious prior to the start. EVERLASTING STARS – Jumped out at the start and crowded I AM A HIT. Tightened and crowded for room near the 800m when SWEET FANTASY shifted inwards. Held up for clear running until switching wider near the 400m. SWEET FANTASY – Raced wide early stages. Rider C Whiteley was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground inwards near the 800m, resulting in EVERLASTING STARS being crowded for room. Race 6: 6 GRANT & SIMPSON LAWYERS QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1300 metres The start was delayed due to the cross over nose band on FLOP TURN RIVER having to be re-adjusted after the runner was placed in the barriers. BETTER RAIN – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery rate. Trainer T Smith was advised that if anything were to show in the ensuing days in relation to recovery of the gelding, he is to notify stewards accordingly. TIOGA PASS – Slow to begin. Shifted out near the 200m briefly inconveniencing BETTER RAIN. EYE PEE OH READY – Rider R Wiggins was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the below par performance of the gelding. Trainer R Vale reported he believed the gelding failed to handle todays track conditions. FLOP TURN RIVER – Slow to begin. TEQUILA DANCER – Raced wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field near the 900m. Jockey A Thompson was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. Race 7: EMPIRE APARTMENT HOTEL BENCHMARK 58 Handicap1200 metres WINE TALKS – Reluctant to load. Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Raced wide throughout. AKATINO (GER) – Slow into stride. I AM CLEVER – Held up for clear racing room until leaving the 200m. LINGJUN TOPGUN – Raced wide throughout. THE GRADUATE – Over raced in the early stages. VALTINO – Held up for clear racing room until leaving the 300m. LYNRIC LASS – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure. Race 8: 8 FRENCHVILLE SPORTS CLUB RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap1600 metres There was a delay to the start due to farrier work being required on NATIVE BEE prior to the start. YAMUMZA – Raced wide in the early stages. HYPERION STAR (NZ) – Slow to begin. Hung in under pressure in the home straight. BONAUGURA – Hung in under pressure in the home straight. It was noted that the cross over nose band broke during the run. Jockey R Wiggins was reminded of his obligations to ensure he rides his mounts out fully to the finish. MARTO – Held up for clear running until the 300m. VANA STAR – Began awkwardly which resulted in Apprentice A Donald striking her left leg on the barrier structure. A Donald was reminded of her obligations to ensure she rides her mounts out fully to the finish. A Donald was examined by the on-course ambulance officers and clear of any significant injury. SAW THAT COMING – Fractious prior to the start. Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. NAUGHTY POSSUM – Slow to begin.
