Apprentice A Jones was examined by the QAS officers and cleared of any serious injuries however was stood down from her remaining ride as a precautionary measure due to the heavy fall. An inquiry was conducted into the reasons for ASSUIE NUGGET (IRE) falling near the 200m. After taking evidence from Apprentice A Jones, jockey J Stanley (ROVERS PEPPER) and jockey C Whiteley (ENUFF HE SAID) it was established that approaching the 200m, AUSSIE NUGGET (IRE) had improved towards a narrow run between ROVERS PEPPER to the inside and ENUFF HE SAID to the outside. Due to ROVERS PEPPER shifting outwards marginally when yielding ground and ENUFF HE SAID shifting inwards marginally, resulted in AUSSIE NUGGET (IRE) clipping heels and falling. Stewards could not be satisfied to the requisite standard on the available evidence that AUSSIE NUGGET (IRE) was fully established into the run before the shift from both ROVERS PEPPER and ENUFF HE SAID and consequently AUSSIE NUGGET (IRE) was placed on the heels of both runners in advance before clipping heels and falling.
