Trainer R Vale reported that after racing October at Rockhampton, both KNIGHT’S SWORD and THE EIGHTH I AM were treated for stomach ailments due to spoilt hay being consumed. GENERALTrack upgraded to a Good 4 after race one.Overweight permitted as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.Trainer S Kendrick was fined $100 under LR67(1) on each occasion for failing to declare riders by the prescribed time in race 4 (FOGGY DEW & WAR TOO ALL) and race 6 (CANNY BE BETTER). Race 1: ROCKHAMPTON MAZDA BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1500 metres BONDURANT – Jockey A Butler advised he felt the gelding was slightly disappointing and one paced throughout. EDIFICATION – When questioned regarding today’s performance, Trainer C Taylor stated that he felt that the gelding racing over 1500m, second up from a spell, would derive fitness benefit from the outing and was not overly disappointed in the performance. MOENAVE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SRINI – Slow to begin. NASHA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Race 2: GET YOUR TICKETS RJC GALA BALL QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metresPrior to the running of race 2 the stewards upgraded the track to a good 4. MISHANI AVIATOR – Over raced during the middle stages. Held up for clear racing room until leaving the 400m. I'M BLUEY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid out in the early stages of the home straight. DRAGON'S SNIP – Jumped in the air at the start as a result slow to begin. Jockey J Murphy advised after missing the start and settling at the rear of the field his mount over raced in the early and middle stages which resulted in the gelding racing three wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion to the near side hind. PARA PARK CHANCE – Laid in under pressure over the final 400m. Race 3: ADLEC SOLAR & ELECTRICAL OPEN Handicap 1050 metres ASPEN LAD – Jumped in the air at the start and began awkwardly. Held up for clear racing room early in the home straight. GOLDEN ATHENA – Laid in under pressure over the final 300m. Jockey W. Satherley was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. MISTER LARRABEE – Began awkwardly. Inclined to hang in under pressure down the home straight. Briefly inconvenienced near the 350m. Jockey D. Evans was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. RECONDITE (IRE) – Slow into stride. CHILL OUT MISS – Laid in under pressure over the final 300m. Race 4: CARLY-MAE PYE MEMORIAL Class 1 Handicap 1050 metres PARAMEDIC (NZ) – Slow to begin. RUBUNKAR – Carried wider around the 900m turn. Raced wide throughout. FOGGY DEW – Near the 800m commenced to over race, then raced ungenerously for some distance. Held up for clear racing room in the early stages on the home straight. Jockey D. Evans was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. BOLD AND SMOOTH – Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 900m. Inclined to lay out under pressure on occasions in the home straight. AMRAP (NZ) – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin. As a concrescence settled further back then intended. Carried wider around the 900m turn. GRAND ASCENT – Slow to begin. Rounding the 900m turn commenced to over race and shifted out resulting in AMRAP being caried wider out onto RUBUNKAR. Raced wide over the final 800m. MISS DAURIAN – Jockey N. Summers was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. Race 5: GREAT NORTHERN RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400 metres SKYMASTER – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages. NATIVE BEE – Slow to begin. THE LAST SAGA – Bumped at the start by PARISIAN LADY. ROSE OF TAORMINA – Jockey J. Murphy was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. YUBETIDO – Hung in under pressure down the home straight. GIVES ME CHILLS – Near the 400m was briefly tightened for room on the inside of ROSE OF TAORMINA when that horse improved tightly on the inside of SKYMASTER, which shifted in marginally. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor abrasions to both hind bumpers. Trainer R Vale was of the opinion that the mare may have been in season as she had proved to be very restless and agitated during the day. PARISIAN LADY – Began awkwardly bumping with THE LAST SAGA. BODY AND SOUL – Slow to begin. Race 6: TAB Class 3 Plate 1300 metres ANTAGONISER – Raced wide early. Laid in under pressure down the home straight. CANNY BE BETTER – Began awkwardly. Held up for a clear run in the initial stages of the home straight. DESERT MOON – Over raced early and middle stages. ISLERO (NZ) – Began awkward and was slow to begin.
