SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

GLADSTONE – 7TH NOVEMBER 2023

Trainer A Stephens advised stewards that the swelling to the injury present at Gladstone on OUR GOLD CLAIM had gone down in the days subsequent and would undergo further examinations during the week. Stewards advised A Stephens to continue to follow up with more information regarding the gelding when it becomes available.

GENERAL

Stewards accepted the reasons tendered by trainers R Vale, J Manzelmann and K Smyth regarding the late declarations of riders.

Trainer S Kendrick was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of LR67(1) due to the late declaration of the rider on WAR TOO ALL.

R Wiggins was given permission to ride AUTUMN SHOW 0.5kg over its allotted weight.


Race 1: TAB BREEDERS PLATE QTIS 2YO FILLIES MDN PLT - 1050M

I'LLTELLYOUGO – Jumped away awkwardly.

SOCIAL CHANGE – Fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Slow to begin and hampered shortly after by VALLEY OF OWLS which shifted out. Laid in when placed under pressure near the 300m. When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey A Layt stated that besides the minor incident at the start, he could offer no tangible excuse with the performance. Trainer T Button stated that SOCIAL CHANGE had missed the start in its previous trial and after missing the start again today, ran to his expectations. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

VALLEY OF OWLS – Shifted out on jumping, hampering SOCIAL CHANGE.

VALOROUS PERFORMER – Jumped away awkwardly.


Race 2: TAB BREEDERS PLATE QTIS 2YO COLTS & GELDINGS MDN PLT - 1050M

ASK ME MATE – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a lead position near the 700m. When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey A Sewell stated that his mount raced greenly throughout various stages of the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination after compounding noticeably, which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainers’ representative was advised that ASK ME MATE would be required to trial prior to its next future race start.

ASTAPOR – Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the home turn. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.

ASTRA STAR – Jumped away awkwardly. Shifted in and bumped INVADING JILLY near the 650m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

BEATS FLOWERS – Slow to begin. Failed to muster any speed in the early stages.

INVADING JILLY – Bumped by ASTRA STAR near the 650m. Momentarily held up near the 500m. Upon returning to scale, Jockey R Wiggins reported that his mount felt awkward over the final stages and he initially thought INVADING JILLY may have bled. Due to this he refused to place his mount under any more pressure over the final 150m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainers’ representative was advised to report back on the filly in the days subsequent.

OUTBACK BANDIT – Raced wide and ungenerously in the early stages of the event.


Race 3: ROCKHAMPTON ENGINEERING & MAINTENANCE QTIS MDN PLT - 1600M

RED FLASH – Had to shift out to avoid the heels of RYCAM LAD which shifted in marginally near the 1150m. Jockey J Stanley was advised to exercise more care when shifting in future. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey Silvera explained that when his mount struck interference whilst trying to be restrained, he ended up being posted three wide in the run as a result. He further explained that as RED FLASH was rising significantly in distance from its last start, he elected to race wide throughout from the 1100m in an attempt to get the gelding to settle, rather than push forward to race closer to the lead, as he was of the opinion that it would be using too much of his mount up. Stewards noted the explanation.

RYCAM LAD – Raced wide in the early stages.

AUTUMN SHOW – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

DIAMOND VICTORY – Was declared a late scratching at 12:12pm on vet’s advice after becoming fractious in the float en-route to the track. Trainer D Rideout advised stewards that DIAMOND VICTORY would now be retired. Trainer Rideout was advised that if DIAMOND VICTORY resumes a racing career, the mare would be required to officially barrier trial and provide a veterinary clearance of fitness.

REGAL FIELD – Slow to begin.

TOPTIMISTIC – Slow into stride.


Race 4: THOMOS BETTA HOME LIVING BM70 HCP - 1600M

MOMACK – Jumped away awkwardly.

MAKEDON – Jockey W Satherley was fined $400 under the provisions of AR132(5) for using his whip 16 times in totality.

SRINI – Stood flat footed and as a result was slow to begin.

NATIVE BEE – Dipped on jumping as the start was affected and as a result was slow to begin.


Race 5: TONY MADDEN ARCHITECTS OPEN HCP - 1100M

CAPTAIN FOX – Approaching the 800m, had to steady for a number of strides to avoid the heels of BLUE KENTUCKY MOON which shifted in when insufficiently clear to do so. Jockey W Satherley was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear.

SPELLCATCHER – Slow to begin. Held up for clearing racing room until approaching the 200m.

MEDIA EMPIRE – Reared on jumping.

KAHAYLAAN – Slow to begin.


Race 6: GREAT NORTHERN QTIS 3YO MDN HCP - 1200M

TEEKUP underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 4:04pm after an examination revealed blood present in the filly’s nostrils due to a possible head trauma identified by the veterinarian. Stewards ordered that all bets placed on TEEKUPP be refunded with the following deductions to be placed on all successful wages:

1st Place (MOUNT MARGARET) – 1c win, 1c place
2nd Place (CHERRY ROSE) – 1c Place
3rd Place (MONDAY CHOICE) – 1c Place

Trainer S Rundle was advised that TEEKUPP would require a veterinary clearance prior to the filly’s next future race start.

The start of this race was again delayed for CHERRY ROSE to be re-shod. As the filly was unable to be re-shod, and permission was granted for CHERRY ROSE to race bare behind.

The start was further delayed after RUSSIAN LAD had to undergo a veterinary examination at the start after being fractious once loaded in the barriers and was passed fit to start.

STREET GOD – Raced wide throughout.

ROBUST BOY – Raced wide throughout.

RUSSIAN LAD – Upon returning to scale, Jockey J Stanley reported that his mount initially travelled well, however was inclined to hang out from the 800m placing him at a severe disadvantage. Trainer K Smyth was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record.

BOLD TYRANT – Raced wide without cover throughout.

CHERRY ROSE – Bounded on jumping. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.

HE'S SO READY – Raced wide with cover throughout.

MOUNT MARGARET – Apprentice O Kendal was fined $400 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 4 more than permitted.


Race 7: GET YOUR RJC GALA BALL TICKETS BM60 HCP - 1400M

MOORABINDA MICK – Bumped with ROSE OF TAORMINA shortly after the start.

FRESH PRINCE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

NASHA – Jumped away extremely awkwardly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced and almost unseated. Shifted out to obtain clear racing room near the 250m. When questioned regarding the performance, J Stanley stated that in the circumstances, he wasn’t overly disappointed with the performance of NASHA. He added that his intentions were to be somewhere in the leading pack, however after the incident at the start, it was always going to place him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race being at the tail of the field. He further added that he was satisfied with the way NASHA finished off its race.

CANNY IMPACT – Jockey J Huxtable was fined $300 under the provisions of AR132(5) for using his whip 15 times in totality, 1 more than permitted.

ISLERO (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.

ROSE OF TAORMINA – Bumped with MORRABINDA MICK shortly after the start.


Race 8: DICK SULLIVAN MEMORIAL BM55 HCP - 1200M

BUNGARRIBEE LAD – Raced in restricted room and was held up from entering the home straight until obtaining clear running at the 200m.

MR TANGLES – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

NIC ME SOME – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up for majority of the home straight before eventually being able to shift out to obtain clear racing room passing the 100m.

DESERT MOON – Had to steady momentarily to avoid the heels of MR TANGLES which shifted in near the 100m.

DRAGON'S SNIP – Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainers’ representative was advised to report back on the conditions of the gelding in the days subsequent.

WAR TOO ALL – Shifted in on jumping bumping FLAMENCO ROSE. Raced wide throughout.

PEGGIE BOOM – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

FLAMENCO ROSE – Bumped on jumping by WAR TOO ALL.
