Williams SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT MACKAY – 16TH NOVEMBER 2023 – RACE 1 – LADBROKE IT! BM60 HCP- 1800MJockey D Evans plead guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 14 times prior to the 100m, 9 more than permitted. His license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days from midnight 21st November until 1st December 2023. Jockey Evans also pled guilty to a charge under AR132(5) for his use of the whip 18 times in totality, 4 more than permitted. His license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to be served concurrently with the prior penalty. In assessing penalty, stewards were mindful that this was a severe breach of AR132(7)(a)(ii) as well as a breach of AR132(5), the degree of culpability as well as considering jockey Evans’ guilty plea, co-operation, and disciplinary record. GENERAL Stewards’ accepted the reasons tendered by trainer S Rundle in relation to the late declaration of the rider of TEEKUPP. As R Wiggins was unable to fulfill his engagement due to a transporting error, a replacement was made as per race day summary. R Wiggins provided stewards with evidence of the error, which was accepted by the stewards and no further action was taken. Race 1: MP SECURITY BM70 HCP - 1050M OCEAN EMPEROR – Bumped upon jumping by MAGIC ON ICE. SABOR – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. KAHAYLAAN – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. ACRES AWAY – Began awkwardly contacting the outside barrier partition and was slow to begin as a result. Held up for clear racing room until leaving the 400m. MAGIC ON ICE – Jumped inwards on jumping bumping OCEAN EMPEROR. Raced keenly in the early stages and has to be momentarily restrained off the heels of OCEAN EMPEROR. Laid inwards when placed under pressure leaving the 200m. Race 2: RJC GALA BALL THIS SATURDAY BM65 HCP - 1500M EDIFICATION – Slow into stride MAKEDON – Carried wider approaching the 100m when SRINI shifted outwards. SRINI – Shifted outwards approaching 100m carrying MAKEDON wider on the track. NASHA – Jumped outwards at the start. Jockey J. Stanley was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. PARAMEDIC (NZ) – Bumped upon jumping by MURRAJONG ROAD. Raced wide throughout. App B. Johnson was questioned in relation to the performance of the gelding in today’s event. Ms Johnson stated that in her opinion that PARAMEDIC was disappointing and could offer no explanation to the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor abrasions to the bumpers. Trainer J Wigginton advised stewards’ that he would undertake to report back on the condition of PARAMEDIC (NZ) in the days subsequent. ISLERO (NZ) – Held up for clear running until the 350m. MURRAJONG ROAD (NZ) – Jumped outwards at the start bumping PARAMEDIC. When questioned in relation to the performance of the gelding trainer K. Smyth stated that MURRAJONG ROAD worked well this week and he could not offer any explanation to today’s performance. A subsequent post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer K Smyth was asked to report back on the condition of MURRAJON ROAD (NZ) if anything becomes apparent in the days subsequent. Race 3: CHRISTMAS RACES 9 DECEMBER MDN HCP - 1050M POTESTAS – Began awkwardly. PLAYFUL KISS – Laid inwards under pressure over the concluding stages. TEEKUPP – Bumped upon jumping by GREEN PARK and slow to begin. SWEET CATENA – Raced wide throughout. DIVINE KAMEHALANI – Raced keen in the middle stages. Held up for clear running until 400m when switching out of the heels of GREEN PARK to obtain clear racing room. Jockey D. Evans was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 4 more than permitted. GREEN PARK – Jumped outwards at the start bumping TEEKUP and slow to begin as a result. Raced wide early. Laid out noticeably under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. PONGA'S GIRL – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages. Race 4: WENDY MULRY TRAVEL 0 - 55 HCP - 1050M DESERT MOON – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Held up for clear running from the 600m until obtaining clear running at a point approaching the 250m. ALIKICK – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not competing for the past 12 months and was cleared to start. LONERGY – slow to begin and failed to muster any early speed. Improved onto the heels of a tiring NO BETTER AFFAIR near the 50m and shifted outwards. NO BETTER AFFAIRE – Jockey W. Satherley was reprimanded under AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out fully to the finish. When considering penalty stewards were mindful of jockey Satherley’s clear record and the fact that NO BETTER AFFAIRE was tiring and stewards could not be completely satisfied that NO BETTER AFFAIRE would have beaten LONERGY home. KAMARCHER – Raced wide throughout. ETHELDA – Raced wide throughout. PEGGIE BOOM – Held up for clear racing room until leaving the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have suffered a bilateral nostril bleed. Trainer C. Taylor was advised of the provisions of AR79(4). Mr Taylor advised that he would now consult with the connections in relation to the racing future of PEGGIE BOOM. Race 5: MILNE BROS 0 - 55 HCP - 1300M OBLIQUITY – Slow to begin. When questioned in relation to the performance of the gelding, jockey J Stanley stated his mount travelled well throughout however when he asked OBLIQUITY for an effort, his mount failed to respond and proved disappointing. Trainer C. Taylor advised that OBLIQUITY worked well this week and was ridden quietly early due to the barrier today. He also stated that he was disappointed with today’s run and would undertake to report back on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. WAR TOO ALL – Raced wide throughout. YUBETIDO – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. ROSE OF TAORMINA – Held up for clear running until leaving the 250m. Jockey A. Layt was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
