GENERAL
Trainer R Vale was fined $100 under AR106(1) in that he failed to enact a gear change, that being a crossover noseband, for SO YOU BATTLE by the prescribed time.
As J Byrne was unable to make the first race due to flight issues, he was replaced on MR DUDWEY by non-claiming apprentice C Graham.
As Jockey A Butler was unable to make the weight on his mount BENCOOLEN in Race 11, he was subsequently replaced as per the stewards’ race day summary. Jockey A Butler was fined $200 under the provisions of AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
Stewards inquired into the reasons for the scratchings of KNIGHT’S SWORD, KNOWITALL JACK (NZ) and SEISME from the fourth race on the program, all of whom are trained by Mr. R Vale. Trainer Vale explained that KNIGHT’S SWORD had undergone a recent blood test and after receiving the results of those tests, he was not satisfied with them and therefore withdrew the gelding on that basis. Trainer Vale then further explained that KNOWITALL JACK (NZ) had raced at Thangool on the 13th April 2024 and whilst he was hopeful the gelding would be able to back up in this event, he eventually scratched on the morning of the races after not being satisfied with the recovery. Trainer Vale then stated that SEISME had a stone bruise and was unable to compete in the event. Subsequently, Mr. Vale furnished veterinary certificates for KNIGHT’S SWORD and SEISME’s scratchings. Stewards noted the explanation and took the matter no further.
