HudsonStewards – S. Larkins, E. Suli, G. Wust, S. Stehbens & H. Gillett SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT ROCKHAMPTON 12TH JULY 2024 – RACE 9 – BM55 HCP – 1600M I’M BLUEY – Trainer C. Taylor reported that I’M BLUEY had pulled up well following yesterday’s run, however, could not offer an explanation for the disappointing performance. Trainer Taylor advised that it may be his intentions to give I’M BLUEY a short spell before re-assessing the gelding’s immediate racing future. GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweights at today’s meeting: Race 2. J. Stanley – +1/2kgRace 3. L. Tilley – +1/2kg J. Stanley – +1/2kgRace 5. L. Tilley – +1/2kg R. Wiggins – +1kg T. Chambers – +1kg J. Stanley – +1/2kgRace 6. T. Chambers – +1kgRace 7. J. Missen – +1kg J. Stanley – +1/2kg Race 1: DLV FINANCE QTIS 2YO HCP - 1200M ASTRA STAR – Jumped away awkwardly. Unable to obtain clear racing room in the home straight until a point near the 200m. MORE STYLISH – Shifted out on jumping, bumping ASK ME MATE. Raced keenly in the early stages. ASK ME MATE – Bumped on jumping by MORE STYLISH. Raced keenly throughout. Race 2: NUTURF BM65 HCP - 2215 M En-route to barriers ADMIRAL ASH dislodged Apprentice A. Donald and was captured by the clerk of the course straight away. Apprentice A. Donald was assessed by the on-course QAS officers and was cleared to take her engagement. HERE HE LOOMS – Raced keenly in the early stages. TORQUE LEICA STAR – Slow into stride. RED VICAR – Raced wide in the early stages until a point near the 1600m. ADMIRAL ASH – Raced keenly in the early stages. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in today’s event, Apprentice A. Donald advised stewards that as there was no genuine pace in the race, she was advised by the trainer to make use of her inside barrier and to take a position in the lead. Trainer J. Manzelmann confirmed with Apprentice Donald’s statements and advised stewards that he was unaware of his obligations to advised stewards regarding changes with riding instructions. Trainer J. Manzelmann was issued with a reprimand under the provisions of AR100(1)(a). HADMYTIME – Jumped away awkwardly making contact with the outside barrier partition. Race 3: WENDY MULRY TRAVEL QTIS 3YO HCP - 1100M DESERT KOBY – Shifted out abruptly on jumping hampering TAHKIAN BUBBLES. Jockey J. Huxtable reported to stewards that he was not overly disappointed with the performance due to the fact that his mount was unable to gain respite in the lead after being pressure by HELL and HANGIN’ AROUND. DRAGON'S SNIP – Tightened between runners on jumping. CONNEWARRE – As Jockey L. Tilley was overweight, he was subsequently replaced by Jockey N. Thomas and was still ridden at the advertised +1/2kg. Jockey L. Tilley was fined $200 under the provisions of AR190(3). HELL – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. TAHKIAN BUBBLES – Hampered on jumping by DESERT KOBY which shifted out abruptly. Race 4: PHIL PEEL JEWELLER BM65 HCP - 1500M CUSACK – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. MOCAMBO – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Had to be eased momentarily when KICK ON COMMMAND shifted out under riding near the 300m. Jockey R. Dolan was reminded of his obligations to ensure his mounts are clear of other runners when shifting ground. MIO SORRENTO – Raced wide throughout. Bumped with PEPPERDINE rounding the home turn and bumped again shortly after. KICK ON COMMAND – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. PEPPERDINE – Had to be steadied when the pace slackened to avoid heels near the 700m. Bumped with MIO SORRENTO rounding the home turn and bumped again shortly after. Near the 200m, bumped with KEFALONIA on a number of occasions. Raced in restricted room near the 100m when CUSACK shifted in when placed under pressure. MURRAJONG ROAD (NZ) – Bumped on jumping by LOOSE UNIT which shifted in. Had to be steadied when the pace slackened to avoid heels near the 700m. Held up and had difficulty obtaining clear racing room until a point near the 200m. Inclined to hang in noticeably in the home straight when placed under pressure. LOOSE UNIT – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, bumping MURRAJONG ROAD (NZ). KEFALONIA – Near the 200m bumped with PEPPERDINE on a number of occasions. Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS CAPRICORN GUINEAS QTIS 3YO HCP - 1500M SIR GRACE (NZ) – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Raced wide with cover in the early and middle stages. RED DEFCON – Slow to begin. ADIELLA – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey L. Tilley stated that after being trapped wide in the early stages due to the virtue of the wide barrier draw, he was unable to obtain a position close to the inside rail. Jockey Tilley advised that in his opinion ADIELLE may have been better suited settling in a mid-field position closer to the rail to the outside of FINE SHOT. Jockey Tilley further stated that once it became apparent he was not a realistic chance, he elected to not place his mount under any further pressure. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer J. Dann stated that after today’s performance, ADIELLA would now be sent for a spell. REPLACE THE ACE – Raced wide throughout. SAILOR'S RUM – Raced wide in the early stages. Raced keenly in the early stages. BRAVE AGENDA – Raced wide throughout. ITZA MOTZA – Slow to begin. Race 6: REGIONAL INSURANCE BROKERS/GREENSTEEL - CLAUDE GREEN MEMORIAL QTIS C1 HCP - 1100M WITHIN REASON – Bumped with EVERLASTING STARS shortly after the start. BOOMING LAD – Near the 900m, became awkwardly placed on heels after shifting in and away from WHITSUNDAY SESSION who had laid in before being immediately corrected by its rider. NOBLE HEART – Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight until a point past the 100m. EVERLASTING STARS – Tightened on jumping when WHITSUNDAY SESSION shifted in and bumped with WITHIN REASON shortly after the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room until a point near the 150m. STREET GLORY – Stewards permitted STREET GLORY to race without a tongue-tie after it was presented without one. Trainer J. Wigginton was of the belief that he had removed the gear, however had failed to do so. Trainer J. Wigginton was fined $200 under the provisions of AR106(1) for presenting STREET GLORY without its tongue-tie. Raced keenly in the middle stages. D'ESPRIT – Was declared a late scratching at 2:50pm on veterinary advice after the mare had struck its head in the stalls after becoming fractious. Trainer R. Stenhouse was advised that D’ESPRIT would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. ROTH 'N' BUBBLE – Jumped away awkwardly. WHITSUNDAY SESSION – Shifted in on jumping tightening EVERLASTING STARS. Raced wide throughout. Upon returning to scale, Jockey J. Stanley reported that his mount was inclined to hang in throughout the event. FLYING MAPLE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Following the running of this race, stewards were notified by the sample collection officers and veterinary staff that WITHIN REASON was unable to be sampled appropriately within a reasonable timeframe and as a result the filly posed a significant safety risk to itself, sampling officers and stable staff. Acting under LR33A(a), stewards ordered that WITHIN REASON be stood down until a time where a satisfactory blood sample be taken whilst the horse behaves in a safe and reasonable manner. Race 7: TAB ROCKHAMPTON CUP - 1600M NAMAZU – Laid out under pressure near the 200m when tiring. WAPITI – Raced wide throughout. ENUFF HE SAID – Near the 200m, momentarily eased after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of UNDER THE CAP which was taken in by HYPE (IRE). Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. HYPE (IRE) – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. MOENAVE – Slow to begin. UNDER THE CAP – Stewards permitted Apprentice C. Collis to ride his mount 1kg overweight. Apprentice C. Collis was reprimanded under the provisions of AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Eased near the 200m when HYPE (IRE) shifted in when under riding. Jockey T. Voorham was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear. FORTIFIED (NZ) – Bounded on jumping.
