GENERAL

As jockey L. Tilley was not riding at today’s meeting after sustaining an injury at Grafton on the 21/7/24, rider replacements were approved as per the race day summary.

Stewards approved a late gear change in race 4 on 22/7/24, removing blinkers off ARACELI. Trainer R. Vale was fined $200 under AR206(2) for failing to request a gear change by the prescribed time.

As jockey J. Huxtable was unable to make weight in race 3 on CHASETON stewards approved jockey J. Murphy as the replacement rider. Jockey J. Huxtable subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge under AR190(3) for accepting a ride in which he was overweight, Mr Huxtable was fined $300.

After the running of race 4, stewards were notified that the results which had been sent to Racing Australia was incorrectly displaying the winner DISCOVERED GOLD as a scratching. After consultation with the staff responsible for disseminating the results to Racing Australia, it was determined that due to a clerical error, DISCOVERED GOLD had errantly been marked as a scratching when the results were sent through. After being notified of this error, the results were then resent to Racing Australia a short time later with the correct results.

Race 1: GREAT NORTHERN MDN PLT – 1400M

JUKE BOX JIMMY – Jumped awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

MR GREY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and bumped near the 100m when PHANTOM FLIGHT shifted in abruptly when placed under pressure.

JUST BINGO – Rider J Stanley reported that his mount travelled well during the run, however upon straightening, JUST BINGO didn’t respond to his riding and was very disappointing. When questioned regarding the performance, trainer C Taylor could offer no explanation, however stated that he would now be reassessing the immediate racing future of JUST BINGO and undertook to report back on any decisions in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

PHANTOM FLIGHT – Slow to begin. Bumped with MR GREY near the 100m when it shifted in abruptly when placed under pressure, despite the efforts of its rider.

RIVERVIEW RED – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

SCRUB CHAIN – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after jumping with FRASER’S RIDGE.

BEEARETEE – Slow to begin and hampered shortly after when OFFANGO shifted out on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages and shifted out abruptly near the 700m when becoming awkwardly placed on heels of DALT JAZ and raced wide from that point on.

FRASER'S RIDGE – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after jumping.

Race 3: CAULFIELD CUP DAY 19 OCTOBER C3 PLT – 1050M

GROWL – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. Eased from the heels of CHASETON near the 700m when the pace slackened. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

RUBUNKAR – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages and raced wide throughout.

MISS DAURIAN – Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

CHASETON – Near the 700m had to be restrained from the heels for a number of strides of CALL ME MARILYN when that runner steadied the pace. When assessing the incident, stewards were mindful that LAST LAUGH which was racing tight to CALL ME MARILYN when assuming the lead, as well as the racing manners of CHASETON prior to the incident were factors in the incident and therefore reminded jockey G Cartwright of her obligations in regard to steadying the pace and took the matter no further.

TSUNAMI FORCE – Raced wide in the early stages and carried wider rounding the home turn when MISS DAURIAN laid out.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Good (4).

Race 4: TAB MDN HCP - 1050M

RUSSIAN LAD – Hampered on jumping. Awkwardly placed on the heels when rounding the home turn and shifted out abruptly. Raced greenly in the home straight and had to be corrected on several occasions.

ARACELI – Shifted out on jumping.

TIME TO GET READY – Began awkwardly.

Race 5: KELE PROPERTY GROUP C6 PLT - 1300M

PREPOTENT – Over raced in the early and middle stages. When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance trainer J. Kuhn stated that the gelding was second up for her stable today and was expecting an improved showing considering the small field size today, she further added in her opinion PREPOTENT failed to handle the track surface in its most recent start.

SANTORINI SUMMER – Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.

Race 6: DYNAMIC ELECTRICAL AND REFRIGERATION BM58 HCP - 1400M

BARRY'S LANE – Overraced in the early stages and laid in under pressure from the 300m onwards. When questioned regarding performance, jockey J Stanley reported that he wasn’t overly disappointed with BARRY’S LANE efforts, however believed with the weight the gelding had to carry and the work it had to do to gain a position off the speed, it was detrimental to its overall performance. He added that his mount was inclined to lay in during the home straight which made it difficult to ride out.

ALEACO – Had difficulty obtaining clear running until a point near the 100m.

ALL THE SHOPS – Pulled hard onto the heels of BARRY’S LANE near the 700m and shifted out after being restrained.

LEICA BITA FUN – Slow to muster early speed and laid in under pressure from the 400m onwards.

LUVIN' OUR GRACE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.

MIL CIENTO – Bounded on jumping and raced wide throughout. Taken wider near the 700m when ALL THE SHOPS shifted out. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey J Huxtable stated that the gelding had travelled well but when asked for an effort it only responded fairly and was disappointed in the manner MIL CIENTO had finished the race. Trainer K Smyth stated that he believed that MIL CIENTO may not have handled the firm track today and would report back to stewards if anything becomes apparent with the gelding in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of the thumps.

STREET GLORY – Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room until a point near the 200m.

Race 7: DIAGEO C1 HCP - 1200M

SEISME – Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right fore. Trainer R. Vale was advised that SEISME would require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.

D'ESPRIT – Stewards inquired into apprentice S. Willis’s vigour shown over the concluding stages, it was determined that Ms Willis had decreased her vigour momentarily before the finish line, however stewards could not be completely satisfied that her actions had cost her 3rd place due to the margin, proximity to the line and the manner in which D’ESPRIT finished off the race. Nonetheless apprentice Willis was reminded of her obligations under the provisions of AR131(b).

ROBUST BOY – Trainer’s representative A. Coome stated that he whilst he wasn’t overly disappointed with the performance, he was expecting the gelding to finish its race off better than it had on this occasion. He added that the decent drop back in distance from its previous start may have been a factor in the performance and would now look to give the gelding a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.

TAKERU – Raced wide throughout.

ROMAN QUEEN – Slow into stride.

MISS RINEHART – Declared a late scratching at 8:40am due to no suitable rider available.
