When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer P. Duncan stated that he had made changes to the filly’s gear by removing the tongue-tie. MR GREY – Bumped with TOUCHOFCLASS (NZ) shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted and whether there was an opportunity to obtain a position closer to the rail in the event, jockey W. Satherley stated that after starting from the widest barrier, it was his intention to obtain a position one off the rail in a forward position as instructed, however due to a number of runners improving to his inside he was unable to obtain his desired position. Jockey Satherley further added that given the tempo of the race, leaving the 1200m he thought it was his best option to remain in the 3-wide position rather than to restrain and lose momentum during that point of the race.
