QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB FRIDAY 4TH OCTOBER 2024 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SOFT 5 (1-2), GOOD 4 (3-7) RAIL – +0.5 MPENETROMETER – 5.32 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. SuliStewards – H. Gillett, S. Stehbens, G. Wust GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweights: Race 1. Ryan Wiggins – +1/2kg Race 4. Tasha Chambers – +1kg The following runners all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing within the previous seven days and were all cleared to start: Race 4. LAMENTUMRace 5. LEICA BITA FUNRace 5. MR GREY Race 6. GRAND DE LAGO Race 7. MIL CIENTO RACE 1: TAB MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300 Metres) The start of the race was delayed when FRACTIONAL proved difficult to load. ICONIC PRINCE – Was fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. FRACTIONAL – Proved difficult to load. Trainer C. Taylor was advised that a warning would be placed on FRACTIONAL’s record for being difficult to load. MADNUS LEE – Raced wide throughout. Upon returning to scale, Jockey M. Murphy reported that MADNUS LEE felt awkward in its action over the final stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to real any significant abnormalities. TWILIGHT STEPS – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. ME TIME – Upon returning to scale, Jockey R. Wiggins reported that ME TIME was inclined to hang in throughout the event. SHEKINAH – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. NEVA BREEZE – When questioned regarding the performance in today’s event, Jockey J. Murphy stated that he was overall disappointed with NEVA BREEZE’s efforts stating that after travelling well in the early stages, the filly commenced to overrace but settled soon after, and when asked for an effort in the home straight NEVA BREEZE failed to respond to his riding urges. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. TOY DANDY – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. BIKER – Was flat footed as the start was effected and as a result was slow to begin. READY TO GROOVE – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Overraced and wide in the early stages. RACE 2: GREAT NORTHERN HANDICAP (1200 Metres) MILL ROSSA – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed MILL ROSSA to have bled from one nostril. Trainer M. Currie was advised that MILL ROSSA would be stood down from racing until the completion of a 1000m gallop in the presence of stewards. LETMELETGO – Raced wide in the early stages. LEADERSHIP SPILL – Jumped away awkwardly. DOUBTING EYE – Raced wide throughout. Near the 1000m, had to momentarily steady from the heels of LETMELETGO, which had shifted in, and had to shift wider. Jockey J. Huxtable was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear. DOLLAR DOLLAR (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Following the running of RACE 3, the track was upgraded to a GOOD 4. RACE 3: CITY PRINTING WORKS QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP (1050 Metres) GREYLIST – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. SUN WORSHIPPER – Jumped away awkwardly and dipped shortly after the start. Near the 600m, became awkwardly placed onto the heels of SPITZBERG and had to be momentarily steadied. WHAT A DOOZY – When questioned regarding the improved performance in today’s event, Trainer’s representative stated that the track conditions in WHAT A DOOZY’s recent starts were not complimentary to the filly’s chances. The representative further stated that the filly had been working well recently and the stable was confident in an improved performance. GOTTA HERO – AMBERINGER – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J. Murphy reported that AMBERINGER had raced greenly throughout, proving difficult to ride out over the concluding stages. He further stated that he and the trainer discussed possible gear changes prior to the filly’s next start. SPITZBERG – When questioned regarding the improved performance in today’s event, Trainer I. Prizeman stated to stewards that in SPITZBERG’s first and only start the gelding had begun awkwardly and as a result trailed the field for the remainder of that event. Trainer Prizeman also stated that SPITZBERG had been working well in the lead up to today’s event and had shown promise in its recent trials, and in his opinion was expecting a forward showing. Stewards noted Trainer Prizeman’s explanation. A post-race sample was collected from SPITZBERG for analysis. Stewards also intend to obtain betting reports and ascertain more information on the event. DUBIOUS AUTHORITY – Shifted in on jumping, impeding EXCEL ROAD. EXCEL ROAD – Impeded on jumping by DUBIOUS AUTHORITY which shifted in. NOVEMBER FOAL – Slow to begin. RACE 4: JOIN US FOR MELBOURNE CUP DAY CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1050 Metres)ZIN ZAN READY – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. CHAMPINSKY – Shifted in on jumping, impeding SEISME. TOUR DE FIELD – Shifted out on jumping, impeding PINK SOLITAIRE. SEISME – Jumped away awkwardly and was impeded shortly after by CHAMPINSKY which shifted in. WHITTLESFORD – Jumped away awkwardly. Near the 800m, had to steady from the heels of LAMENTUM which shifted in. Apprentice B. Johnson was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear. LAMENTUM – Began awkwardly. MISS DE BOOM – Hung in and made the bend awkwardly near the 600m. PINK SOLITAIRE – Slow to begin and was impeded shortly after the start by TOUR DE FIELD which shifted out. Overraced in the early stages. RACE 5: PAC PLUS BM55 HANDICAP (1600 Metres) EL OF A SENORITA – Bumped with MIGHTY JUDD near the 550m. Was held up for clear racing in the home straight until a point near the 350m. LEICA BITA FUN – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. MIGHTY JUDD – Slow into stride. Bumped with EL OF A SENORITA near the 550m. MR GREY – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. PHEEBLE'S SPIRIT – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. STREET GLORY – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey R. Wiggins was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) for using his whip 15 times in totality. SHADOW PROJECT – Jumped away awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to the off-side stifle. RACE 6: ROSSCO’S PIZZA BM70 HANDICAP (1400 Metres) GRAND DE LAGO – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up in the early stages of the home straight and had to shift in to obtain clear racing room near the 450m. KATHY'S BEAU – Raced wide in the early stages. BENCOOLEN – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. SRINI – Slow to begin. I PROMISE YOU – Near the 850m, had to momentarily steady and shift out to avoid the heels of KATHY’S BEAU which shifted in. Jockey J. Stanley was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear. FROSTIN' – Bumped on jumping by MILKY ROCKET which shifted in. Overraced in the early stages. POET'S DAY – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. ALEACO – Raced wide throughout. Near the 200m, had to momentarily restrain to avoid the heels of BENCOOLEN which laid in. Jockey R. Wiggins was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift in. MILKY ROCKET – Shifted in on jumping, bumping FROSTIN’. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. RACE 7: DYNAMIC ELECTRICAL AND REFRIGERATION BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (1200 Metres) SUISSE SCANDAL (NZ) – Shifted out on jumping, impeding DEFROSTED. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. MIL CIENTO – Fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Reared on jumping, dislodging Jockey R. Wiggins shortly after the start. Slipped over in the back straight prior to being captured by the clerk of the course. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer K. Smyth was advised that MIL CIENTO would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. Jockey R. Wiggins was examined by the on-course QAS officers with a sore left hand/thumb. Jockey Wiggins was cleared of any other significant injuries. BO BO BEWARE – Stewards granted permission for BO BO BEWARE to race in Visors, instead of the declared gear of Blinkers. Trainer K. Smyth was fined $100 under the provisions of AR106(1) for presenting BO BO BEWARE to race with the incorrect gear. SOFTEN IT UP – Raced keenly in the early stages. FLY LIKE HELEN – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Overraced in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice O. Kendal was reminded of her obligations in ensuring she rides her mount out fully to the finish. DEFROSTED – Slow to begin and was impeded shortly after the start by SUISSE SCANDAL (NZ) which shifted out. Taken wider rounding the home turn near the 600m by the riderless horse.
