GENERAL
 
Trainer Ricky Vale was reprimanded under the provisions of LR36(6) for failing to scratch the dually accepted runner SENNAPROST by the prescribed time. When considering penalty, stewards took into consideration this was Trainer Vale’s first breach under the rule.
 
Stewards approved the following overweight:
 
Race 3.         Raul Silvera Olivera – +0.5kg
 
 
Race 1: TAB BM65 HANDICAP (1500 Metres)
 
OUR TURN NOW (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Held up in the home straight for clear racing room until a point near the 300m.
 
BOLD SMUGGLER – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
DIASONIC – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
TOMYDONKA – Was declared a late scratching at 1:16pm on veterinary advice after an examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left hind. Trainer M. Kropp was advised that TOMYDONKA would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next future race start.
 
 
Race 2: GREAT NORTHERN OPEN HANDICAP (1100 Metres)
 
MEDIA EMPIRE – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with the inside barrier partition. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
DOUBTING EYE – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with the outside barrier partition.
 
JANEAN – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with the outside barrier partition.
 
MASONRY MAN – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
 
 
Race 3: RQ SUPPORTS RACING INDUSTRY SAFETY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300 Metres)
 
BOLD BLAZE – Bumped on jumping by SOUTHAVEN, which shifted in, and lost ground. Held up in the home straight for clear racing room until a point near the 300m.
 
SOUTHAVEN – Shifted in on jumping, bumping BOLD BLAZE. Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
IMPERIAL BLOSSOM – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
ARTHUR'S DREAM – Was carried wider near the 50m by SCRUFFY, which shifted out abruptly, and in turn brushed with BADLIFEDECISION.
 
SCRUFFY – Over raced in the early stages. Raced ungenerously over the concluding stages and shifted out abruptly near the 50m, carrying ARTHURS DREAM wider which in turn brushed with BADLIFEDECISION, before being corrected by its rider.
 
BADLIFEDECISION – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide in the early stages. Near the 50m, brushed by ARTHURS DREAM which was carried wider by SCRUFFY. Upon returning to scale, Jockey J. Murphy reported that he had dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
MISHANI TALENT – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: MAMSELLE CORDAY BM65 HANDICAP (1300 Metres)
 
SRINI – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SPIN DOCTOR – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ALL THE SHOPS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
JUNGLE BEAT – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. When questioned in relation to the performance, Jockey R. Silvera Olivera stated that his mount felt flat throughout and failed to respond when asked for an effort after being trapped wide throughout. When questioned for a comment on the performance, Trainer J. O’Sing stated that in his opinion getting trapped wide proved detrimental in today’s performance. He further added that being second up today may also be attributed to the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
SENNAPROST – Approaching the 800m became awkward in its action and shifted inwards contacting the running rail and commenced to over race for some distance thereafter. Apprentice M. Apel reported that her mount felt awkward in its action on a number of occasions throughout the event. Trainer R. Vale reported he was overall disappointed in today’s effort and stated that he intends conduct blood tests and would advise of any abnormalities to stewards. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
SPIRIT OF GIVING – Held up for clear racing room until a point near the 250m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: PARADIS IMPERIAL MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 Metres)
 
BIGCAT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
GEE EM CEE – Bumped heavily with PITLECO LASS on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly throughout.
 
CRAIGLEA BRONTE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
PEAKING TOM – Raced wide throughout.
 
PITLECO LASS – Jumped outwards abruptly at the start bumping heavily with GEE EM CEE, resulting in Jockey G. Cartwright becoming awkwardly unbalanced.
 
RUN FREDA RUN – Laid in noticeably in the home straight and had difficulty obtaining clear running until the 200m.
 
SHEKINAH – Shifted wider near the 400m to obtain clear racing room.
 
HEROIC DESIRE – Steadied from the heels of PEAKING TOM near the 450m and shifted wider to obtain clear racing room.
 
STREET NEEDS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
 
Race 6: TONY MCMAHON RECOGNITION BM60 HANDICAP (1100 Metres)
 
JOEY D'OR – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice N. Olzard stated that JOEY D’OR had travelled well in the early stages, however after being trapped wide throughout, the gelding had knocked up and failed to respond to her riding urges over the concluding stages.
 
BOLD AND SMOOTH – Jumped away awkwardly.

THE HAIRDRESSER – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
DEFROSTED – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 200m clipped the heels of THE HAIRDRESSER which shifted in and blundered. Jockey R. Silvera Olivera pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of DEFROSTED which clipped heels and blundered. Jockey Silvera Olivera’s license to ride to races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence midnight 29th of October 2024 and to conclude midnight 11th of November 2024. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the mare to have a ruptured right fore tendon and minor lacerations to the left fore. Trainer K Hansen was advised that DEFROSTED would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next future race start.
 
 
Race 7: MELBOURNE CUP DAY AT CALLAGHAN PARK RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1600 Metres)
 
The start of Race 7 was delayed allowing the on-course ambulance officers to attend to someone on course. Once a second ambulance had arrived, the start time of Race 7 was scheduled to be run at 5:50pm.
 
BO BO BEWARE – Upon returning to scale, Jockey J. Stanley reported that his mount was inclined to hang in the early stages of the event. He further added that the gelding was inclined to hang in the home straight, which resulted in BO BO BEWARE being difficult to ride out over the concluding stages.
 
BORNEES LAD – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
ROSE OF TAORMINA – Jumped away awkwardly. Was inclined to hang in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
D'ESPRIT – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Apprentice M. Apel reported that her saddle had slipped shortly after the start and as a result had difficulties restraining her mount, therefore elected to allow her mount to stride out to the lead.
 
MADAME LEXIS – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Trainers representative R. Thompson was fined $100 under the provisions of AR106(2) in which he incorrectly fitted pre-race earmuffs under the bridle, resulting in MADAME LEXIS racing in the incorrect gear.
 
TOY DANDY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
