GENERAL
 
Due to Trainer D. Gardiner experiencing transport difficulties en-route to today’s meeting with two vehicles, both runners JUST BINGO (8:14am) and I’M BLUEY (9:57am) were declared late scratchings by order of Stewards at their respective times.
 
Stewards granted permission for the following overweights:
 
Race 4.         Justin Stanley – +1kg
Race 5.         Corey Bayliss – +1kg
Race 8.         Corey Bayliss – +1/2kg
 
Due to the forecasted weather, Stewards conducted today’s meeting under the provisions of the Caring for Racing Animals in Extreme Heat Policy.
 
Jockey A. Spinks was fined $1000 under the provisions of AR185 for changing gear after weighing out, in that after he had weighed out for CAVANTE at the correct weight in Race 6, he had removed his lead bag, which was not declared at the scales, with the intention of substituting that weight by drinking a volume of water. In determining the penalty, stewards took into account Mr Spinks’ clear record in relation to the rule, his guilty plea and penalty precedents.
 
 
Race 1: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP  1300 M
 
ONE PERCENT – Jockey R. Wiggins reported that his whip had broken in running at a point near the 200m.
 
ICONIC PRINCE – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
 
RUN FREDA RUN – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
HANK THE HUSTLER – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages while racing ungenerously.
 
JUST BINGO – Declared a late scratching at 8:14am due to transport difficulties.
 
POPPY'S PRIDE – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
MY PEPPERJACK – Slow into stride. Near the 900m, overraced onto the heels of POPPY’S PRIDE and continued to overrace thereafter for some distance and had to be restrained again from the heels of POPPY’S PRIDE near the 750m. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
 
Race 2: TAB BREEDERS PLATE QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE  1050 M
 
HEROIC TALENT – Slow to begin. Raced erratically in the early and middle stages. Trainer S. Rundle was advised that a warning would be placed in HEROIC TALENT’s record due to its racing manners.
 
LOUIS AUGUSTE – Raced wide in the early stages. Stepped inwards near the 100m and had to be corrected by its rider.
 
NOSEY NEO – Slow to begin. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Upon returning to scale, Jockey S. Cormack reported that his mount raced ungenerously from a point near the 900m until near the 700m.
 
TARONG – Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
WHO ASKED ZOU – Began awkwardly and slow to begin. Jockey L. Tilley reported that his mount felt awkward in its action throughout and trailed the field for majority, taking no competitive part in the event.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing signs of heat stress. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for a poor performance.
 
BOLLA BOLLA BABE – Jockey C. Graham reported that her mount was inclined to race ungenerously upon entering the home straight whilst racing in clear room.
 
DON'TDOUBTHELADY – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: WADE HUNT IT QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  1050 M
 
The start was delayed approximately 6 minutes when multiple runners proved difficult to load.
 
STELLAR LEGEND – Fractious prior to the start. Shifted inwards on jumping impeding LITTLE TOWN FLASH. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left hind leg. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that STELLAR LEGEND would require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.
 
ROTHFURY – Jockey A. Spinks pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 10 times prior to the 100m, 5 more than permitted (12 in totality). Jockey Spinks’ licence to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 21st November 2024 to midnight 29th November 2024.  
 
BEEARETEE – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously throughout.
 
DUBIOUS LOVE – Raced wide in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SAY IT LOUD – Slow to begin. When questioned on the performance, Jockey J. Stanley stated that his mount travelled well however was one paced throughout. Jockey Stanley further added that he believes SAY IT LOUD would be better suited over further distances.
 
WINNING BLITZ – Reluctant to load prior to the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced greenly in the home straight. Trainer S. O’Shea was advised that WINNING BLITZ would be stood down to trial for being reluctant to load.
 
LITTLE TOWN FLASH - Impeded on jumping by STELLAR LEGEND which shifted inwards and DALT JAZZ which shifted outwards. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey C Graham stated that after being impeded at the start she was further back than anticipated and her mount had never travelled well throughout.
 
PITLECO LASS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
LITTLE IFFY – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted outwards. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
DALT JAZ – Shifted out on jumping and impeded LITTLE TOWN FLASH.
 
 
Race 4: JOIN AS AN RJC MEMBER OPEN HANDICAP  1200 M
 
TIGER LEGEND – Bumped with MONTENEGRO MAN on jumping. Blundered near the 50m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a fracture to the offside shoulder. TIGER LEGEND was humanly euthanised and postmortem samples were collected for analysis. Jockey A. Butler was examined by QAS officials and cleared of any injury other than mild soreness to his right-side ribs.
 
MONTENEGRO MAN – Bumped with TIGER LEGEND on jumping.
 
STAMPE – Checked near the 50m when TIGER LEGEND blundered.
 
BRAD – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, bumping with CALM SEEKER (NZ). Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Bumped with CALM SEEKER (NZ) passing the 200m. Checked near the 50m by STAMPE which had to check and shift out to avoid TIGER LEGEND which had blundered.
 
CALM SEEKER (NZ) – Bumped on jumping by BRAD which had shifted in. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Bumped by BRAD passing the 200m. Checked near the 50m when BRAD had to be checked and carried wider.
 
 
Race 5: CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS AT CALLAGHAN PARK BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP  1811 M
 
CHASING JACKLEY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
YUBETIDO – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing signs of heat stress and a poor post-race recovery.

DEEL WITH ME – Slow to begin.
 
BILPA MOREA (NZ) – Stood flat footed as the start was effected (4L). Trainer M. Kropp was advised that a warning would be placed on BILPA MOREA (NZ) for standing flat footed.
 
SHADOW PROJECT – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 6: BECOME A RJC GOLD CLUB MEMBER BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP  1050 M
 
The start of the race was delayed when GILBERT’S GOLD broke through the barriers and galloped a short distance before being captured by the clerk of the course. The gelding subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 4:04pm on veterinary advice.
 
BARNEY RABBLE – Laid outwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
NOBLE HEART – Slow to begin.
 
RUBUNKAR – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out making contact with the outside barrier partition. Raced keenly throughout.
 
CAVENTE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
GILBERT'S GOLD – Declared a late scratching at 4:08pm on veterinary advice after breaking through the barriers prior to the start. Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered all monies invested on GILBERT’S GOLD to be refunded in full and deductions to apply as follows:
 
9c on the dollar of the winner CALL ME MARILYN (1st)
16c on the dollar for the place of the winner CALL ME MARILYN (1st)
12c on the dollar for second place PRETTY SLICK (2nd)
13c on the dollar for third place NOBLE HEART (3rd)
 
Trainer P. Dillon was advised that GILBERT’S GOLD would require a veterinary clearance and to trial prior to its next race start.
 
PENMAN – When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey C. Graham reported that her mount was unable to receive any respite whilst racing in the lead, and when racing in clear room her mount commenced to hang. Jockey Graham further added that the gelding failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure over the concluding stages and went to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing signs of heat stress.
 
 
Race 7: GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND CLASS 3 PLATE  1200 M
 
EARLY FUSION – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides near the 900m. Laid outwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
GROWL – Held up for clear racing room from the 400m until the 150m when shifting inwards to off the heels of DEVIL DEVIL to obtain clear racing room.
 
INVICTUS LAD – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
DEVIL DEVIL – Hung inwards despite the efforts of its rider near the 900m and was then carried inwards by GOTTA HERO and placed EARLY FUSION in restricted room.
 
GRAYSONG – Trainer M. Stephens reported that the gelding cast its off-fore shoe in running.
 
I'M BLUEY – Was declared a late scratching at 9:57am due to transport difficulties.
 
MARTINI MOMENT – Began awkwardly. Commenced to overrace approaching the 900m and soon after had to be restrained from the heels of GOTTA HERO when that runner crossed to the lead. Jockey C. Graham reported that the mare felt awkward in its action for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer J. Manzelmann will be contacted in the coming days regarding the condition of the mare.
 
CANNON HILL – Slow to begin. Held up for clear racing room until the 300m.
 
GOTTA HERO – Jockey A. Spinks was reprimanded under AR131(a) in which he shifted inwards near the 900m and carried DEVIL DEVIL inwards onto EARLY FUSION, resulting in that runner being placed in restricted room.
 
 
Race 8: FARM AND GARDEN PRODUCTS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP  1400M
 
PIPISTRELLE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ALEACO – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
LA PITTRICE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAGIC GAME – Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early stages.
