Race 3 - BOOK FOR CHRISTMAS MEETING SATURDAY 14TH DECEMBER Maiden Handicap 1100M
THE GENERAL TALKS – After hearing further submissions by trainer B Thomson in relation to the embargo of a satisfactory trial being placed on the gelding, stewards varied the embargo to a warning given that it is the first instance of any behaviour of the nature and a relatively inexperienced rider. Stewards were also mindful of the circumstances of apprentice M Campbell becoming dislodged were that the gelding had whipped around upon arriving at the barriers resulting in Ms Campbell becoming unbalanced and being dislodged. Stewards were of the opinion that because the behaviour was not prolonged and THE GENERAL TALKS has a clear record in relation to pre-race behaviour some leniency ought to be extended. Ms Thomson was advised however, that should another instance of similar behaviour occur that THE GENERAL TALKS may face an embargo.
GENERAL
Following the running of this meeting, Jockey T. Chambers reported soreness in her right shoulder after SNAZZY SNITZEL dropped its head in the barriers in Race 5. As the on-course QAS Officers had already left the course, Jockey Chambers was unable to be examined and was advised that if symptoms persist, she will need to seek medical attention and provide stewards with an update.
Race 1: GREAT NORTHERN CLASS 6 PLATE (1400 Metres)
KATHY'S BEAU – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

Cormack reported that BENCOOLEN had been travelling well throughout the event until a point near the 200m where asked for an effort, the gelding failed to respond and had gone to the line in a disappointing manner. Jockey Cormack further added that the gelding’s most recent start and trip to the Doomben on the 9th of November may attributed to the seemingly flat performance.
SPIRIT OF GIVING – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly throughout. Upon returning to scale, Jockey A. Sewell reported that his surcingle had become undone in running.
