Race 1: Castlemaine Perkins Class 2 H'cap - 1800m

CALIFORNIA JOHAN (J. Stephens) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with AIR WAVES (J. Letherby).


Race 2: XXXX Gold Maiden Plate - 1000m
1st Ciara Gold 2nd Fine Shakira 3rd Avya Xena 4th- Pic The King

BAGGER’S VERSE (T. Bannon) was inclined to lay out shortly after the start and hampered CHEELAR (R. Hall).

Approaching the 700m, AVYA XENA (J. Stephens) shifted in and away from FINE SHAKIRA (M.Cant), resulting in PIC THE KING (A. Coome) having to be checked.

After passing the 700m, AVYA XENA had to be eased to avoid the heels of FINE SHAKIRA, which was taken in by CIARA GOLD (A. Butler). Apprentice A. Butler, rider of CIARA GOLD, was issued with a reprimand and advised to ensure he allows sufficient room to his fellow riders in future.

ONE MORE SPIN (J. Letherby) raced wide without cover throughout.


Race 3: XXXX Bitter QTIS 2-YO H'cap - 1000m
1st Elegance On Ice 2nd Rytarga 3rd Banker’s Trust 4th- Craiglea Rapper

JEDILAD (D. Simmons), KICKDAHABIT (L. Dillon) and CRAIGLEA RAPPER (K.Wharton) were all slow to begin.

TRACE OF GLORY (J. Stephens) jumped away awkwardly.

BANKER’S TRUST (A. Coome) and ELEGANCE ON ICE (A. Butler) bumped on a number of occasions approaching and passing the 600m.

Jockey A. Erhart, rider of PHOEBE FOR ME, which performed below expectations, explained that the filly did not feel comfortable on today’s track surface and also was not entirely comfortable in its action. A post race veterinary examination of PHOEBE FOR ME failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

KICKDAHABIT shifted out abruptly after passing the 800m and proved difficult to ride. KICKDAHABIT trailed the field for the remainder of the event. A post race veterinary examination of KICKDAHABIT failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer L. Rowe advised that KICKDAHABIT would be sent for an immediate spell and would resume on the grass track.

When questioned regarding the performance of TRACE OF GLORY, J. Stephens explained that after jumping away awkwardly, the horse resented the kick back and as a result shifted wider on the track after passing the 800m where it raced for the remainder of the event.


Race 4: Hahn Premium Light Maiden Plate - 1300m
1st Bold Grey 2nd Last Arch 3rd The Communicator 4th- Commet’s Kingdom

PEBS MAGIC (M. Cullen) was slow to begin.

Near the 700m, GREENVALE GIFT (T. Bannon) commenced to weaken and shifted in, resulting in LAST ARCH (A. Coome) being tightened for room.


Race 5: Tooheys New Class 1 H'cap - 1300m
1st Berrima Boogie 2nd Dandy Kat 3rd Puro Sangue 4th- Blue Bom Square

PERICOLO (D. Simmons) overraced in the middle stages and near the 1000m had to be steadied off the heels of MIGHTY MALOUVER (T. O'Hara).

NARRATION (C. Beets) raced wide without cover throughout.





Race 6: Tooheys Extra Dry Class 5 H'cap - 1150m
1st Manila Warrior 2nd Pelennium 3rd Aunty Flo 4th- All That Cash

PARIS BOY (A. Coome) reared at the start and lost ground.

D. Green, rider of GRANDE VARGUE, reported that the gelding slipped behind on jumping away and lost ground.

PELENNIUM (J. Letherby) knuckled shortly after the start.



Race 7: Hahn Premium Open H'cap - 1100m
1st Gobou 2nd Rock Of Mufasa 3rd Let It Hail 4th- Vulcan

Trainer L. Applewaite was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for FORADE by the prescribed time.

FORADE (J. Letherby) was slow to begin.

GOBOU (A. Coome) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 200m.

A. Butler, rider of RED MESHACH, which performed poorly, explained that the gelding was not suited to the fast tempo in the early stages and failed to handle today’s track.


Race 8: Amstel Class 3 Plate - 1000m
1st Craiglea Apollo 2nd Sonns Suzay 3rd Proud Zaha 4th- Love Snack

BALLYVADDY (J. Letherby) was slow to begin.

MANDS BOND (D. Missen) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with WANNSEE (M.Cant), resulting in both of these runners losing ground.

GERVASI (S. Evans) laid in under pressure over the final 200m.

GERVASI raced wide throughout

J. Letherby, rider of BALLYVADDY, which after being slow to begin trailed the field throughout, explained that the gelding was not suited to today’s track conditions.

C. Whiteley reported that SENGA SINGS did not handle today’s track conditions.
