Chinchilla 15th June 2013

L Appo was fined $100 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m on (TANQUERAY LADY R3) and (PERFECT PUZZLE R5).

Race 5. I French (PROMISE ACT) was reprimanded for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m on.

RACE 1 ROMA VET CLINIC MAIDEN HCP. 1000M

SHOHANNA (J Letherby) was very unruly in the mounting yard making it impossible for the rider to mount. When mounted on the track the mare continued to be difficult causing the rider to be dislodged.

The mare was withdrawn at 1:00pm. Subsequently all monies invested on SHOHANNA were refunded and a deduction of 5c win and 6c place declared under the previous deduction scheme as stewards were unable to access the APN deduction calculator. Trainer J Curtain advised stewards that SHOHANNA would be retired immediately, stewards however advised J. Curtain that if the mare continued racing she would be required to successfully barrier trial prior to further nomination.

WE GOT YA (C Bryen) was restless in the stalls and jumped slowly.

FAMECHON BARONESS (N Ogura) was forced to race wide throughout.

MACDYE (M Mc Gillivray) shifted out in the straight causing DACK’S MISTRESS (L Appo) to steady.

RACE 2 CHURCHIE OPEN HCP 1000m

BEACHCOMER (L Tilley) which jumped with its head in the air was then ridden forward to take up the lead where it over raced for a short distance.

OLYMPIAS FLAME (B Newport) attempted to get her head into the adjoining stall and jumped awkwardly.

EDITIVE (N Ogura) shifted out at the start.

ALPHONSE (M McGillivray) shifted out across ANNETTES PUMPKIN (S Morris) which was slow to begin.

ALPHONSE was tightened by ANNETTES PUMPKIN at the 800m.

VOLUNTARY (R Goltz) shifted in under pressure on the home straight.

RACE 3 ROMA GAS SUPPLIES RUGBY SLIPPER 2YO QTIS HCP 1000M

Stewards enquired into the reasons for Appr B Newport having to re-weigh as a result of him not claiming his full allowance on PERFORMIA. Stewards took evidence from the clerk of scales and B Newport. After considering all of the evidence Appr Newport was advised by stewards that he was responsible to ensure that he weighed out correctly however they took into consideration the statements made by the Clerk of Scales and on this occasion issued a reprimand to Appr Newport.

On returning to the mounting yard the rider of GEEJAY (L Tilley) reported that his barrier did not open at the same time as the other barriers and that his mount had to make heavy contact to force the barriers open. As patrol footage confirmed that the stall had not opened with the other gates causing GEEJAY to lose considerable ground the gelding was not afforded a fair start and was declared as a non runner.

Stewards on declaring correct weight ordered that all monies on GEEJAY be refunded with the following deductions to apply.
Winner BRADY’N’ME less 5c win 10c place
2nd URULOKI less 8c place
3rd PERFORMIA less 15c place

Stewards requested the starter to test the barriers prior to the next race.

RACE 4 THE SOUTHPORT SCHOOL CLASS B HCP 1200m

Appr B Newport reported that GRAND SUITE did not handle the sand surface.

A protest 4th ZIPOLITE (L Tilley) v 3rd DEVILS HALO (S Morris) was entered , the grounds being alleged interference at the 200m .After taking evidence from all parties concerned and viewing the patrol footage, the protest was dismissed as steward s did not believe that there was sufficient loss of ground to alter the placings.

At the 200m ZIPOLITE attempted to take a tight run between HEARTY CLANG (J Letherby) and DEVILS HALO which closed when DEVILS HALO moved inwards away from BUSKER BLUES (C Bryen) to its outside. As a result ZIPOLITE had to change course to the outside to obtain clear running. HEARTY CLANG was also placed in restricted room at the 150m. C Bryen and S. Morris were reminded to exercise caution and straighten their mounts when they shift ground.

RACE 5 ST MARGARET’S BENCHMARK 69 HCP 1640m

On the 1400m turn out of the straight CURRAWEE LASS (S Morris) moved in causing TANQUERAY LADY (L Appo) to steady.

THE WATER BOMBER (I French) over raced during the middle stages.
