SUPPLEMENTARY:
17 October 2014
From Tara Race Club (4/10/2014) – Race 2 – Stewards today concluded an inquiry to the reasons for MUNDO NOVA being restrained near the 750m. It was established that near the 750m MUNDO NOVA, which shifted out marginally, had to be restrained from the heels of ROBERT’S COMMAND, which shifted in whilst hanging in. Stewards in considering this incident took into account the racing manners of both horses at this point of the race however, apprentice E. Ljung was nevertheless reminded of her obligations to make a greater effort to straighten her mount when shifting ground.
Race 1 FAIRVIEW PLATE MAIDEN SET WEIGHTS – 1000M:
Stewards accepted the reasons for the late declaration of C. Bryen as the rider of MR HARPER.
BERT’S LEGACY – Tightened for room and lost ground at the start. Rider reported at scale that the mare did not handle the track surface in today’s event and in her opinion was disappointing.
HOLLA LEGS – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Raced wide during middle stages of the event.

PAM’S GIRL – Bumped another runner shortly after the start. Raced wide during the middle stages.
Race 2 THE BEND PLATE CLASS 3 SET WEIGHTS – 1000M:
PHASE was fractious in the enclosure and dislodged its rider. Upon arrival at the barriers stewards ordered a veterinary examination of PHASE and following this inspection the horse was declared a late scratching at 2:14pm on veterinary’s advice after suffering skin lacerations to its hind fore legs. Prior to correct weight stewards ordered that all monies placed on PHASE be refunded in full with the following deductions applicable:
3 cents in the dollar for the win #7
6 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #7
10 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #3
14 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #2
R. Fraser, the trainer of PHASE, was advised that PHASE would be required to provide a veterinary certificate prior to its next start. Trainer R. Fraser was further advised that PHASE would also incur a warning in relation to its pre-race manners.
SHEZA ROUGHIE – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to muster early speed.
SHEARER’S MAGIC – Made contact with another runner on jumping away.
ON ICE NOW – Bumped by another runner on jumping away. Jockey G. Geran was questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance and stated that after being bumped by another runner at the start he was forced to race back further than anticipated. He further added that the mare would benefit from today’s event and would be seeking further ground in future events.
MUNDO NOVA – Stood flat footed and lost ground. Trainer W. Wehl was advised that a warning would now be placed on the mare.
Race 3 PEASANT HILLS HCP CLASS 1 – 1200M:
ANSOUIS – Slow to begin. Rider reported at scales that the mare had a tendency to hang out throughout the event. In the days subsequent to the event it was reported to stewards by the trainer that Ansouis had abrasions on its hind bumpers which may have affected the horses performance and he would now have bandages placed on its current gear.
CAPTAIN SPUR – Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start threw its head in the air and commenced to hang in making contact with another runner.
THE WATER BOMBER – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
ASTRO NASCENTE – The trainer’s representative was questioned regarding the improved performance in today’s event and stated that the gelding had been working well and that they expected a good performance on the familiar track.
Race 4 SANTOS GLNG HCP – 1640M:
Stewards considered an objection lodged by apprentice N. Morton, the rider of REGAL PRINCE, which finished second against STORM MAGIC (C. Rogers) being declared the first place getter on the grounds of alleged interference near the 100m. It was established that STORM MAGIC laid in under heavy riding and shifted in near the 100m inconveniencing REGAL PRINCE. Bearing in mind the proximity of this incident to the finishing post and the margin between the two horses at the finish, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the interference suffered to REGAL PRINCE could justify an amendment of the placing’s and correct weight was declared on the judges numbers semaphored. At a subsequent enquiry jockey C. Rogers was reprimanded.
SHAKES – Was slow to begin.
TESTASCANA – Was slow to begin.
VAN ROSSUM – Raced wide in the early stages.
STORM MAGIC – Raced wide in the early stages.
