QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ROMA PICNIC CLUB – SATURDAY, 30 MARCH 2019 WEATHER – OVERCAST/SHOWERS TRACK RATING – SOFT (SAND) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. Bougoure was fined $100 for failing to declare the rider of LADY BELZONE by the prescribed time. GENERAL: Stewards inspected the track at approx. 6:30am. After consultation with Club Committee Members and Racing Queensland, stewards elected to reschedule the race times to later in the day to allow additional time for the track to recover due to the rainfall received in the last 24 hours. Amended times: Race 1 3:00pmRace 2 3:30pmRace 3 4:00pmRace 4 4:30pmRace 5 5:00pm RACE 1: HALL CHADWICK QTIS MAIDEN PLATE- 1000M Stewards permitted the late scratching of DIXIE LEE at 8:15 due to the rain affected track. Stewards accepted the late declaration of rider S. McGovern of LUCKY DRAW. Start of this race was delayed when LUCKY DRAW dislodged its rider, got away from the clerk of the course and galloped for a distance before making contact with the outside fence. Subsequently was examined by veterinarian and declared a late scratching at 2:56pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested in LUCKY DRAW be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers: 0 cents in the dollar for the win #33 cents in the dollar for place of winner #316 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #215 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #9 As LUCKY DRAW received lacerations, swelling and bruising to near fore leg and near hind stifle, trainer M. Patterson was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. CATCHYA SARGE – Slow to begin. Apprentice S. Lacy reported that the filly raced greenly throughout. PUMP ACTION – Began awkwardly. Trainer S. Mesken pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 106 in that she negligently allowed the horse to be saddled with an extra piece of packing, namely, a towel, which resulted in apprentice M. Kennedy returning to scale 1kg overweight. Ms Mesken was fined $200. In determining penalty, stewards took into account that the negligence had not materially affected the horse’s placing as well as Ms Mesken’s previous good record and forthright evidence. TEKKEN – Began awkwardly. RACE 2: STATHAM CHEESMAN BM 60 H’CAP- 1000M Prior to declaration of correct weight Starter T. Sheehan advised stewards that the barriers had malfunctioned and that he did not effect to start. Stewards took further evidence from riders, starter and reviewed the footage. It was established that multiple runners did not obtain a fair start as a result of the starter not effecting the start. Therefore stewards declared the race to be void under AR 205. The starter advised that the barriers underwent multiple tests prior to race 3. RACE 3: MORGANS FINANCIAL/BENTLEY RB 0-45 H’CAP- 1000M Stewards permitted the late scratching of ADAYONDEK at 8:41 due to rain affected track. Stewards permitted the late scratching of KICKSTARTER at 12:25 due to transport difficulties. The start of this race was delayed when ANAKYN DARAXES became fractious in the barriers. Subsequently was examined by veterinarian and declared a late scratching at 4:27pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested in ANAKYN DARAXES be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers: 11 cents in the dollar for the win #813 cents in the dollar for place of winner #814 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1 Trainer K. Hickmott was advised that a further barrier certificate will be required prior to racing again. Apprentice S. Tomlinson– QAS examined his right foot as a result of ANAKYN DARAXES being fractious in the barriers and was cleared to resume riding. MUDCRAB – Blundered at the start. SEA PRAISE – Apprentice S. Lacy advised that when placed under pressure failed to respond and in her opinion did not handle the increase in weight. RACE 4: AGL OPEN LADY'S BRACELET H’CAP- 1200M Start of this race was delayed when Apprentice T. Townsend (CRAWFISH) had to reweigh. MY COUSIN BOSSY - As there were no other riders available stewards permitted App. N. Morton to ride 3kg overweight. POTEMKIN – Began awkwardly. VANTAGGIO – Slow to begin. RACE 5:TOPX ROMA BM 55 H’CAP - 1200M Stewards permitted the late scratching of ANGEL OF LEON at 8:41 due to the rain affected track. THE CONSIGLIERE – Slow to begin.
