Race 2: EXPLORERS INN CLASS 4 PLATE – 1000M No racing incidents. Race 3: SNAP FITNESS ROMA BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP – 900M CRISTOVAO – When questioned by Stewards in relation to the gelding’s seemingly improved performance today, trainer G. Arnold advised that at the horse’s most recent start at Kilcoy it was slow to begin and settled in a rearward position which placed it at a significant disadvantage, particularly on the tight Kilcoy circuit. He added that because the gelding was able to lead in today’s race he had expected an improved showing, particularly bearing in mind the gelding’s run two starts ago at Chinchilla where it was placed third. YOKIA – Stewards questioned jockey C. Bryen in relation to his riding from the 600m. Jockey Bryen advised that after being loaded into the barriers, the gelding became fractious on two occasions and then became awkward on jumping away. He added that he rode his mount aggressively in the early stages, however from the 600m he became concerned with the horse’s action and felt that something may have been amiss with the gelding and, for this reason, he elected to ease his mount out of the race from leaving the 600m. Jockey Bryen went on to say that during the preliminary the gelding felt free in its action and he had no concerns at this stage. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding immediately following the race revealed no apparent abnormalities. A secondary veterinary examination which was undertaken on the gelding also revealed no significant findings. Trainer W. Baker undertook to advise Stewards should anything come to light in the coming days regarding the horse’s post-race recovery. MISS MOSS – Bumped on jumping away.
