The declaration of correct weight was delayed when PATRICK’S MY MATE, the 5th placegetter, ridden by jockey L. McCoy, lodged a protest against 2nd placegetter, BOLD ADMIRAL, ridden by apprentice T. Townsend, alleging interference in the home straight.  After taking submissions from all parties and viewing the available patrol footage, stewards were of the opinion that at a point approaching the 100m when obtaining a run to the inside of BOLD ADMIRAL, PATRICK’S MY MATE was placed in restricted room and was forced to shift out across heels to obtain clear running when BOLD ADMIRAL laid in under pressure. Taking that into consideration, and the official margin declared by the Judge, stewards felt that the interference received was not substantial enough to warrant a reversal of placings, and therefore the protest was formally dismissed and stewards declared correct weight on the semaphored numbers.
