QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ROMA RACE CLUB – 23TH MAY 2020. WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD (SAND) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R. HitchenerStewards – B. McErleanClerk of Scales – B. McErleanJudge – ClubVeterinarian – Dr T McClymontStarter – S. Crouchley General Due to no on course patrons or bookmakers there was no betting conducted on today’s meeting. Race 1: ROYAL ON 99 QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000m URSA MAJOR- Was declared a late scratching at 11:00am due to no rider being available. BRIGHT COPPER- Fractious in the barriers. Post-race Veterinary examination revealed the presence of blood in one nostril. As the Vet was satisfied the presence of blood was as a result of external trauma caused after being fractious in the barriers, no further action was taken. Stewards questioned Trainer C Smith in relation to the seemingly improved performance. Mr Smith advised that the filly was having its first start in his stable today and was therefore unable to explain the horses past performances. He added that the filly had worked reasonably in preparation for today’s event, and with the drop in class to country grade for today’s event, he had expected and improved performance. NEPTUNE’S BOUNTY- Slow to muster early speed. DISCO DOUGIE- Eased when placed in restricted room near the 700m. Jockey B Richardson advised the gelding was reluctant to travel through the heavy kickback and as a result was disappointing in today’s event.
